One really dissapointing thing about GT3...
« on: December 24, 2000, 01:45:10 AM »
IT HAS THE SAME TRACKS!!!

This is one thing that bothered me with GT2, is that there were only a few NEW tracks, with the same \'old\' ones found in GT1 that we were all getting sick of.

GT3 comtains two new tracks, and 13 old ones, 2 of which are rally tracks.

I wish Polyphony spent as much time on the tracks as they did the cars, because racing the same tracks over and over again gets very tedious, even with the whole new graphics engine.

I still love rippin\' \'round the old tracks, some of the best courses ever designed imo,  so I don\'t mind. GT4 is sure to have heaps of new tracks... I hope? :)

Yeah, I agree with you Racer. It would be nice if it was 13 new tracks and 2 old. But I hope they\'ll do that for GT4. :)

why not just have 13 old tracks and 13 new ones ? what is even worse is that its delayed AGAIN...until March..so SONY can have it as a so called "Re-launch" game when they "Re-launch" the PS2 in the US

they should only keep the best of the the old tracks.

Also, didnt polyphony say they had trouble fitting all the game on a single DVD?? then how could they add more tracks, for their second game, they enhance graphics even further! you get more polygon data, more texture data... but you still get one DVD! surely they couldn\'t have you put in a DVD choose a car, change the disc, choose a track and race! and then when the race would be over, put in the car DVD again!

People say that GT2 is a good example of a multi disc racing game, but I disagree! GT2 basically uses the two disc to separate arcade and sim mode, but both disc have relatively the same cars and tracks on them, just with a modified physics engine!

I still want to get it, but hey, it lowered the "must-have" tag away.

Now I\'m not 100 prosent sure about it; maybe. We\'ll see if it\'s worth buying.

But with heaps of good looking cars and nicely done tracks, I think it\'s the car-simulation to get for PS2.

If they\'re having trouble stuffing more information on the DVD it\'s because they\'re using footage supplied to them by manufacturers in the car shops and menus.  They take that stuff out and there\'s probably plenty of room for new tracks.

I gotta disagree about GT2 not having enough new tracks, that game has twice the tracks of GT and some of the GT tracks aren\'t included like SSRII (one of my favorite tracks argh!) so there were plenty of new tracks added for that game to make anyone happy.

Something that could make the old tracks seem new would be more variations of them like they did with Autumn, Grand Valley, Seattle and the SSR tracks... or if at all possible, in the future I\'d like to see a track editor.

I havent played Gran Tourismo 2 yet (funny huh),

But im glad i havent, so now i can get more enjoyment when 3 comes out.
I met him 15 years ago, I was told there was nothing left, no reason, no concious, no understanding and even the most rudamentory sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong, I met this 6 year old child with this blang pale emotionless face and, the blackest eyes, the devils eyes, I spent 8 years trying to reach him, and then another 7 trying to keep him locked up because I realised what was living behind that boys eyes was purly and simply evil.

The track thing isn\'t exactly new and shocking news. I already knew about it, but it doesn\'t make me want the game any less! It\'s still my #1 game for PS2! I hope nobody will \'reconsider\' buying the game just because of that. IMO it\'s still as strong and awesome as ever.

Cannot wait. :)
