Title: Saw PEARL HARBOR. My thoughts *NO SPOILERS*
Post by: Joker on May 27, 2001, 09:33:40 AM
First off...I showed up at the theater 2 hours early like I was told only to find a line stretching around the block.

So when I finally go inside I had to sit at the very front...my neck still hurts.

But it wasn\'t too bad of seats but still annoying. Anyways, the leading up to the bombing and the bombing itself were amazing. Best special effects for a war film that I can think of.

The only part that I found kind of (not entirely) boring was the whole love story between the 2 pilots and the nurse.

Anyways, long story short...a GREAT date movie. Such a shame I went by myself :(
The guys in the audience get to see sh1t blown up hollywood style and all the ladies get a love story between 2 best friends. So it definately has at least one thing that appeals to everyone in the audience.

Great movie...despite me being dateless, well worth the 12 dollar ticket  I had to pay.

I can\'t wait to see this movie! :D

I don\'t expect to see the deepest movie ever, or anything like that, but I expect to see some amazing effects and an overall kicka$$ movie experience. :)

I thought it was a candy coated BS expierence. It\'s like Titantic. The 40 minute bombing is nothing like the 20 minutes D-Day invasion of private ryan. But what Yamamoto (Who didn\'t want to have a war with US in the first place) said "I fear we have only awakened a sleeping giant" makes me proud to me an american...

No, nothing can compare to the realism of saving private ryan thats a fact, but it was still a good movie.

And yup, they showed the lord of the ring trailer...looks bloody cool too might I add.

Some really awesome stuff coming out over the summer.

Yeah, same here. I\'ll watch it for the experience, not for the splendid Bruckheimer story. ;)

$12 ... Damn thats alot... I thought 8.75 was alot.. Anyway I thought it was a great movie I went and bought tickets like 6 hours before and then wnet back and got seats in teh back.. it was perfect.... I though the visual quality of the movie was awesome.... the only thing that made it a bad experience was that the theater I was in was about 100 degrees packed ful of people so there was like no air to breathe

We have a movie cinema here that plays the new movies for $1.00. Its pretty sweet.

My girlfriend and I went and seen "Shrek" when it came out. Excellent movie.  Same with "Enemy at the Gates".

We also saw "Joe Dirt" and "The Wedding Planner". Two, very, very terrible movies..

Ah - I\'m happy that I\'m not alone in thinking that the new trailer is awesome ( \'tho I\'ve seen it only in crappy RealPlayer stream format, and I\'m waiting forward to see it in theater! ).

Well, like finnish news said, this summer-season in movies will be one big ride. Spectacle after spectacle. Two Big hollywood-movies have already comed out: Mummy Returns and Pearl Harbour ( I will go and see them both, as for the experience - just like sammy :) ). They just need to be experienced in theater with big screen and great surround.

Tickets here, btw, cost 7 bucks. ( that\'s 40 fim )

well...I will admit I went to a major expensive theater.

It\'s called SilverCity and its everything your normal theater is x10. It\'s not classy or nothing but the place is huge.

It holds 10 theaters inside and each one is enourmous. A new meaning to Big Screen. All the chairs are built up like a pyramid so no one is ever in your way and the chairs are like lazy boys...in fact if u go to see a boring ass movie thats the perfect place to fall asleep during it :)
Title: BURN HOLLYWOOD BURN.
Post by: ooseven on May 28, 2001, 02:20:23 AM
I am greatly considering not going to see this movie, which is a great pitty!

WHY ?

Well this the dissrespect this film has shown the REAL people FROM PERAL HARBOR.

WHO EVER though of the idea that to have as a LAUNCH party , where you get an AIRCRAFT CARRIER and park it over the ACTUAL spot where soo many have died and to have their bodies still trapped in the SUNKEN WAR ships should be SHOT !.

i mean talk about dancing in their graves or what.......

Anyway ill prb\' give it a couple of weeks be for i go and see it , that way my anger subsides.

BLOODY HOLLYWOOD should burn for this.

If it\'s not REWRITING HISTORY AKA BRAVEHEART and TITANIC.

They ARSE UP WITH THEIR LAUNCH PARTYES = PERAL HARBOR.

Oh and P.S. to HOLLYWOOD

if you think the acts of the BRITSH TROUPS duing the war of the INDEPENDENCE (THE PATRIOT) was bad, well just try and looking into the HIGHLAND CLEARLENCES in SCOTLAND where WHOLE COMMUNITIES WHERE WIPED OUT !

oh but i supose you just don\'t give a damn about that , and even if you did , you would prob\' muck that up too :rpissed:.

As no film has ever been made about it , and no media attention has been paid to it..........

:rpissed:.

A place by me has 30 theaters in it, all with stadium seating

Dear lord! How big those theaters truly are?

You lucky SOB\'s. Our theater ( the only one in here ) is pitifully small ( if compared to the screen size there ) with bad seats, and you\'ll always have to fear a tall guy entering the theater if he happens to sit in front of you ;)

But, that\'s the only theater I\'ve ever been to, so I don\'t know about superior quality.

Fortunately :)

Theaters here in Iceland are actually pretty good. And they all have very good sound systems and some have very big screens, and they\'re building a new one whith these lazy boy seats, and you can order food and stuff.

"stadium" sized seating? I find that kind of hard to believe, espeacially when u say theres 30 theaters inside.

I don\'t think its impossible (cause I know there out there) just far fetched.

If you go into Pearl Harbor expecting it to be a great war film like Saving Private Ryan you will definitely be upset.  Bruckheimer advertised it to look like a war film, yet the war was only a backdrop to the stupid love story.  I never saw one commercial making it look like it was about a damn love triangle and that really pissed me off.  Just think how great the movie could have been if it focused on the war.

btw-the movie is nearly three hours long with most of it, over two hours of it, being about the love triangle

A place by me has 16 screens all with stadium seating and DD.  I know there is a place near Schaumburg, IL that has 30 screens, I don\'t know if it is all stadium seating though.
