Can you use Dualshock1 controllers to play PS2 games?
-
Yes it sure can play ANYTHING on ps2,
although the feature that on how hard (or soft) you press a button will affect your action on screen is absent... Sorry if this doesn\'t make sense but thats the best i can describe it :D
-
I think analogue buttons is what you mean.
G-R, where in New Zealand are you?
-
No, you both don\'t get what I mean.
can you use the original Dualshock controllers to play playstation 2 games. that\'s a 2 not a 1. and not dual shock2, the dual shock for PSone/X, which doesnt have the pressure sensitive buttons.
I\'m wondering to find out whether or not I need to by another Dualshock2 right now or if I could wait.
-
The Playstation 1 Dual Shock works perfectly with the PS2. My mates and I play DOA2 all the time and I have only one Dual Shock 2. The only pheriphals that don\'t work with the PS2 on PS2 games are the PS1 Memory card and PS1 Multi Tap.
The bottom line: Don\'t buy another dual shock 2 controller yet. Use your old PS1 contollers.
P.S. - Oh, by the way, the PS1 digital controls (without anologue or dual shock) doesn\'t work on the PS2 at all. You will have to buy another controller if you don\'t have dual shocks.

Sweet as. Thanks for that, I got two analouge controllers so that\'s all good

this question just comes in mind:
I know it\'s possible to use ps1 controllers on the ps2, but is it possible to use ps2 controllers on your ps1?

I tried the samething and realized that PS2 cards have 8,000 k. PS1 has a lot less obviously.

well you can dave back up copys of your PS1 mem card saves on your PS2 mem cards - i use it if i need to make room on my PS1 mem card
plus if i remember it only takes up 1kb on the PS2 card

Not true. The standard controllers work on games that do not need the anolog joysticks.
They worked fine on Tekken Tag Tournament the first day I got the system.

Over here third party PS1 memory cards sell for as little as US$ 7. You could probably buy some used ones for even less. You should just buy one and back it up to the PS2 card like sublime said.
