Wow! A tryly great movie. WHile it is a very long movie, you should thoroughly enjoy almost all of it. Don\'t go into the movie thinking that you won\'t cry, because you will! I saw way too many teary-red eyes after coming out, through my own of course.
Good luck getting through this one without wet eyes!

Hehe, you must be a pansy too... Pansys always stick together..
Don\'t worry, my wife also cries in the movies.

That is one of the things that i loved about these forums,is because you could post stuff like that ,and people wouldnt take the piss, but i guess things are changing around here!

Sheesh, guys. Leave him alone. He cried, big deal. Personally, I don\'t cry durin\' movies, \'cept one..

Not sure why, but everytime I cry durin\' it.

I\'m a big softie, but I didn\'t cry while watching Pearl Harbour - the last 20-30 minutes of the film seemed like some laboured scheme just to get one of the main characters killed so the tears would start flowing - I didn\'t buy it. Seemed a bit forced to me, but I\'m in the minority there. Decent movie, not super-great, but not bad IMO. Great special effects, but I still feel the beach scene in Saving Private Ryan is still the best war scene ever in terms of pure visual effects and sound engineering.
I cried during Private Ryan, what a brilliant film.

You want a reason? Here is a spoiler than.
When Rafe\'s son Danny is playing with the flowers, than he goes and picks up Danny, then the camera pans out and shows the flowers are on Danny\'s grave, whew, that stomped on my heart. You guys know me as a heated debate-guy, because I get emotional over winning, well, I get emotional over powerful cinematography. Also, the scene described above was right after all of the caskets with the American flags are out and Cuba Gooding goes to the captains casket, well that is truly sad. I won\'t say I cried at any part, but I had very wet eyes and my heart was aching for the characters.
BTW, emotional guys get the chicks, so ha!
Saving Private Ryan\'s beginning when P. Ryan goes to visit the memorial and stops, crying at Tom Hanks grave, wow! That got the ole waterworks going.
Apollo 13 - when they are coming back and no one knew if they would make it and they lose radio contact, that got em flowing. It is just overpowering camera work and storytelling will get me going. Maybe I am a pansy, but at least I can admit it :)

Yes agreed. That is one of the GREATS.

I dont think I ever cried at a movie, but Pearl Harbor made me want to... not because how sad it was, but because it sucked so bad. Man, if I ever have to listen to Ben Affleck talk with a southern accent again I think I\'ll just go the easy rout and kill myself
phew I hated that movie.
-
Well - I have to ask you ( as well ):
Did you see the Lord of the Rings -trailer ( as it usually is attached to Pearl Harbor ), and if you did, what did you think of it?
:)
-
there wasn\'t one. I saw the LoTR trailer in another movie though and it loos great!
the trialers I can remember were:
Planet of the Apes (looks very dark, typical Tim Burton!)
Atlantis (probably a solid animation if you are into that sorta movie)
Princess Diaries (gay disney movie)
Evolution (looks very funny)
A.I. (looks awesome!)
Jurassic Park 3 (hmmm, I dont know about this one)
I think there were a couple others but my mind is not there right now.

I don\'t know if I\'d be proud of not being touched by certain movies. While I certainly don\'t cry over nothing, I\'m glad that there are still movies that can touch me. The movie that makes my eyes wet the most is... The Green Mile. Dang, that is such an awesome movie! To this date I think there are 5-10 movies that will make me wet-eyed. :)

I agree, looks kinda stupid, but that Anne Hathaway (the main character) is damn cute!

Yeah, that make-over is frightening - she\'s not very appealing at all before her make-over but afterwards she\'s absolutely gorgeous. Damn, it\'s amazing what those make-up people can do....heck they could probably even make ME look good. ;)
Eric - have you seen Bridget Jones\' Diary? Take your gf to go see it, it\'s a wonderful movie. I think my gf loves Colin Firth more than she does me....
-
Isn\'t it a chick flick? That is why I liked PH so much, it has alot of action, with the love story mxed in, so we both enjoyed it. She may think I am a bit odd if I suggest BJD. :)

A bit of a chick flick but very very funny. It\'s a British romantic comedy, my gf absolutely loved it and I liked it a lot too. She also loves Colin Firth and Pride and Predjudice (the book and the BBC mini-seires), and that had a lot to do with her wanting to see the movie (it\'s a modern day adaptation of P&P). I hate both Firth and P&P but I still liked the movie a lot. Renee Zelleweger does a really convincing job as a Brit.

I love saving private ryan but the only movie that made me cry was Bravehaert...damn thats a sad movie. :(

that trailer was awesome, with the ring and all, the battle, there were soo many people in that battle.
i think the lord of the rings will do great in the cinemas.
its a unbelieveable group of books to read.
J.R. Tolkein all the way!( did i spell it right?)
i also love dramatic and great cinema. the camer work was unbeleveable. at the end to make it more dramatic, even though i was wet eyed, they should have shown his grave then panned left and zoomed out. and look at all of the others lost in pearl.
other than that i give this movie 4 Stars.
the movie didnt seem too long, the story blended in perfectly with the historical events.
other movies that are up there with the best:
The Green Mile
Remember the Titans
Top Gun.
