The drive on my PS2 has been vibrating when playing various games, so much so that you can hear it from another room and it causes the screen to shudder. It happens in both the vertical and horizontal positions. Has anyone else had this problem also?
-
nope that\'s never happened to me.... so I can\'t really help you so I guess I\'ll just...... leave.
-
so u ve had it in the vertical position? ya any time i see a person who has a ps2 problem they usually have had it in vertical position at some time. that seems to be a problem causer so........... well to bad for u. Im never gonna put my baby vertical.
-
Mine slowly started developing problems in vertical, but only playing DVDs. I put it horizontally, and it got much better, but with a few problems. Then I cleaned it, left it horizontal, and now it\'s fine.
The problems I experienced were:
1) Skipping on DVDs.
2) Jittery screen (White lines at top and bottom), especially during scene changes.
-
the worst problem ive ever had with mine is that when i am making a trick movie in the replay mode in SSX it always freezes in one spot... but still i think that is just a problem in the game.

I have never kept a system as clean as I have my PS2. I have heard way too many problems with people\'s PS2s on this board alone to treat it like I do my Dreamcast or Saturn. Course I treated my 3 PSXs like a Faberge Egg and they still broke. So far, no problems with my PS2. Of course I havent played it in so long.

Vert/Horiz I don\'t think makes a difference. I had to send my PS2 in but I\'ve never run it anything but vertical and still am after repairs.
Is there any sticker on your disc? That will throw its rotation off balance. If not, my man I\'d call 1-800-345-SONY if you\'re still under warranty, b/c it\'ll only get worse.

Well u might be right as far as the Hardware goes but ive definetly heard that in the Vertical position ur disc can be scratched.
-
Mine had problems awhile back but I got it fixed.
The only way you get scratches on your discs is if you have the ps2 vertical then lay it down flat while the game is running. And if you do that your an idiot because it says in the manual not to do this because it damages the discs.

lol ya i guess ur right. so the best thing to do to prevent ps2 problems is just use common sense i guess
-
I just use it... no Problems... :D
-
Well so far the only things wrong with my PS2 is that it won\'t send the vibrations to my controllers - just started to notice this and also it won\'t read my arcadestick - but i think somehow they are the same problem - oh well i can live without fixing these problems
-
You can make a little "thing" with paper and put it on the bottom of the CD drive, so the CD drive is a bit higher and there are no vibrations. Do you understand me? I had the same problems with the vibrations but I fixed it with this trick.
-
The only problems I see is just the saved replays in SSX the music messes up. 2 different songs blend together and it sounds horrible. but other than that it\'s ok;)

before I had a ps2..... I read a lot of things about problems with vertical and stuff like that.... so when I got mine I take really good care of it.... Like I cover the whole ps2 with a shirt so no dust will get in the drives and do damage...... I never put it in vertical.... and I never let anybody near it unless they ask.... especially MY BROTHER! He loves playing my video games behind my back..... Well I love hurting him when I catch him. :D
-
lol
I have broken 2 in the last 3 months.
-
my ps2 began rattling a little.... when the dvd tray moves out in vert, so, being really aware, and careful, i put in horizontal... so much for that 15$ stand!!!
(15$ for a stand? jeez)
-
well i have sent my ps2 in since last monday and they just started working on it the pther day so im happy, that mean in about 2 more weeks or 3 i will have my ps2 back and i can finally play RF! not to mention GT3
-
Falcon4: I know exactly what you mean. I paid 20 (cdn) for my friggin\' nice looking blue vertical stand. Oh, wait, at least for me, I\'ve got to keep it in horizonatal position. What a waste...
Peh, now that I\'ve fixed mine, I\'m happy with it. Not planning to buy a horizontal stand though (damn money-grubbin\' jerks!).
-
Make a \'thing\' out of paper, i love that!!
I\'ve had mine in both positions, mainly vertical. It tends to make more noise in the horizontal position tho, anyone know why?

man.... why would somebody buy a horizontal stand if it always sits horizontal?..... I mean what is the use of it?......

I was bored, so I bought a horizontal stand. That\'s the only reason.
