Title: Just a thought abot developers!
Post by: Ethan_Hunt on May 30, 2001, 09:19:46 AM
I was think about why maybe the first games that are released for a new console are usally crap, and one thing that hit me is most of the developers have gone froma 32bit machine,to a 128bit machine, that must really through some developers alot,to go to something with all that power!what do you all think?

I think the difficult thing is not the power. Every new console has a special hardware which is completly new (a big difference to the PC), so the developers must learn to create good games for this special hardware, this special hardware, and this special hardware.

yea i agree when devs first start developing for a new system it will be hard and take lots of time to really figure the system out

thats why a lot of launch games didn\'t even use the vector units - which would have helped them perform a lot better

but with time devs will firgure out any system

Just look at summoner compared to FFX.  Maybe that\'s not completely fair since Square is a huge company. But it is an example of jump from one generation of games to the next on the same system.
Now look at the jump from ff7 to ff 9 on ps1.  We\'re gonna see a even bigger jump on performance on ps2 than that.  This\'ll be awesome.

Develepers usually have a hard time finding a game for a new system that will be chart topping.........
Take The Nintendo Game Cube for instance, they dont have "the right" game for it "yet"...
But I dont think that the power of the system has anything to do with the difficulty of making a new game....
