Title: ok...2 problems with my PS2. MAJOR HELP NEEDED!!!
Post by: Joker on May 30, 2001, 11:32:51 AM
ok I recently moved and for the time being I do not have the Big Screen TV I am use too...I have no internet so i\'m using a friends PC.

ok here goes...

1st problem : Very low sound
I have my PS2 set up with the cords that came right out of the box and through a VCR...for some reason the TV sound is normal but anything that goes in the PS2 has to have the volume next to maxed to hear it normally.

2nd problem: Fading from dark to light
When I was hooking it up I had a DVD in to know when it would work...anyways after watching it I noticed the movie was going from very light to very dark. Even on pause so it wasn\'t part of the movie...

Any help is greatly appreciated.

PS: Don\'t say look in the book cause I don\'t have it :(

You can\'t watch a DVD through a VCR due to the Macrovision so there is your problem there.

The audio could be dampened by your VCR as well.

You have it hooked up this way because of only one input on the TV I assume?

You ought to either use a stereo as a switcher and plug both the VCR and PS2 into seperate inputs (Macrovision isn\'t effected by a stereo).  Or just bypass the VCR all together.

The TV is fairly decent so I\'ll see first if I can bypass the VCR all together

im sure it says in the manual you cant put your ps2 through a vcr, u cant play dvds, but games are fine, at least it was when i tried.if you got the scart ( as came with ps2) going into your vcr, have u got a scart going to your tv from your vcr, or the other type of cabe (think its analouge or something) maybe thats why

The dark to light bit is to do with the vcr,go straight into your TV,that should help it.

well vidoholic wraped it all up ina  nutshell :)

everything he said is exactly why you are having these problems, the ONLY way to bypass this if you dont have rca cables in the back of your t.v. is to go down beyond rca cables, you need PS2 rfu adptor :( the sickest piture quality you can get with the PS2.  Iv seen a grip of people at my work that buy those things caUSE THIER T.V.S ARE SO OLD! and i tell them if you would buy a tv with s video then the picture clarity difference is like night to day!!!, but alas they think im trying to sell them a t.v. sucks for them :)

i strayed away fromt he point, listen to what video said and you hould be fine, and if you really want to watch dvds\'s then shell out a few bucks and get an rfu adaptor ... ughhhhhh rfu
