It isn\'t surprising, but the Playstation 2 version of Crazy Taxi is making "craaazy" money for Acclaim. It is the number one selling Playstation 2 title at both GameStop and Electronics Boutique, two of the most prominent videogame retail chains.
"Crazy Taxi has quickly emerged as the \'must have\' title of the Spring, as it was our #1 selling title for the PlayStation 2computer entertainment system, as well as our #4 overall selling product for the week," said Doreen McKenzie, Divisional Merchandising Manager of Console Sales for GameStop. "Consumers\' awareness for the product is only surpassed by their enthusiasm and it appears that Acclaim has delivered a real winner to retail." According to Pete Roithmayr, Vice President at Electronics Boutique, "Crazy Taxi has been our #1 PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system title since its release."
The original version of Craxy Taxi was developed by Sega developer Hitmaker for Dreamcast and arcade, where it was a smash-hit. The Playstation 2 version was converted (with the help of Hitmaker) and published by Acclaim. Despite being an Acclaim title, Crazy Taxi is the first Sega title to land on the Playstation 2. It\'s early sales success bodes well for Sega\'s future potential as a third party, and is an excellent introduction for many Sony gamers to the gaming magic that Sega provides.
shows that people do value gameplay over graphics i guess!

I just played it today. The pop up is shocking. Cars pop up out of nowhere about 50 metres in front of you.
-
I rented it, and I thought it was pretty fun, considering I don\'t like car games (exc.- Twisted Metal1 & 2. Loved both of em).
I didn\'t think the popup was as bad as saaay- SUMMONER! That was a terrible draw distance. In fact, I hardly noticed some of the draw in on CT.

Hav\'nt played it yet, but Rumble raceing got a better review. I own that one, and like it alot. Two player is a blast.
-
Crazy Taxi and Rumble Racing are complete different games, the only same things are the arcade feeling and the speed.
-
I bought the game not long ago. It is a really great fun factor. It kept me playing for hours. Only one thing though, the "Crazy Box" is too damn hard. I only have like 3 or 4 more to do, but damnn, they are hard. Anyway, if anyone is considering to get this game, I would recommend it...

I have this game since last year on teh DC, and it was the best sega game i played after crazy tennis. i spent endless hours with my friends on it. but it\'s bad that this game does not have 2 player fun like rumble racing which is i think a better expirience.
What i like most about it is the music and the comments
of the people, and the crazy streets of san fransisco.
let\'s hope sega will decide to bring crazy taxi 2 to PS2, or maybe crazy tennis.
I heard rumers they might come on x-box.. i would hate to have to buy an x-box just to play one of them...that would be a nightmare on elim street!
-
i never really liked it on the dc, it always had real bad pop up. my gf wants me to get it so i may end up with it
-
i got it on the psx 2day but its nowhere near as good as the DC version!!
-
I own both, the DC and the PS2 version. I think they both look the same but the controller is a little better on the DC. Anyway, having a sega game on a Sony console is GREAT!!!
-
i\'m just gonna rent it!!! i really liked the dc version. :D
-
if i had the DC version, theres no way id even think about getting this version...but it is good to have another good, fun game on the PS2 that people can play

I heard rumors that you bought a PS2 because you didn\'t have a life. I guess we see its more than a rumor. :)

It came out yesterday (1st June) in the UK. I just got my copy this mornin, its great, but i prefer the controls on the DC version, its a lot easier to do the crazy dash on the DC
