Get the Conan the Barbarian Collector\'s Edition DVD. YOU MUST!!
The movie itself is great, plus the added "lost" scenes make the movie deeper, although they are brief. This is an excellent addition to your PS2 DVD library. I\'m gonna watch it again!!

This movie has one of the greatest scores ever composed for a motion picture. This is Basil Poledouris\' masterpiece, but he\'s done a number of great scores as well as a lot of crap. You\'ve heard the opening theme everywhere, but the other pieces are equally amazing. When I worked for a bookstore in the 80\'s, we used to play "Anvil of Crom" at closing time to signal our intentions to the lagging customers. It became quite a ritual. Ah good times, good times.
BTW, Oliver Stone cowrote the screenplay.

Yup, Core, OS did co-write it, but, as was pointed out on the DVD, he had his sights set much higher.
Some of the bonus features of the movie included commentary from Ollie himself in which he stated that he had higher hopes for the movie(s) in which he was to participate.
He had hoped to make it an epic 11 story saga in the tradition of 007, and had many, many more characters and creatures involved in a massive script that was cut down at a later date by Dino De Laurentis. Later on in the footage it was said that the director was interested in doing a trilogy of movies, each progressing Conan\'s life and conquests, and exploring the aspects of his personality.
I am saddened by the tripe put out after this magnificent movie, and that includes the sequel and the short-lived TV series.
I don\'t know anything about Poledouris\' other works, but, I will try to find this Soundtrack at all costs. I believe I saw it somewhere, but can\'t remember what store it was...
I also think it may be too late to revisit the series, unless it will be a story about Conan after he reaches his much fabled kingdom.
