i know, i just posted another star wars thread, but after seeing all 4 on cable recently again, they are my current flavor of the month to talk about, so i have another question
Who was the most powerful with the force???
i think its kind of a tringle between Vader, Luke and the Emperor...Yoda could have been, but i find it doubtful, or could t even be Leia (sp?)
Luke and Vader both overcome the emperors mind tricks...Luke beats vader...Emperor beats luke, luke beats emperor
ugh, who do you think is the most powerful
-
well, i voted luke, I think definitely by the end he was the most powerful. Darth Vader was powerful, but as Yoda said, the light side of the force was the more powerful. Yoda WOULD get my vote, but he was too old to really use his force to extent.
Definitely luke, he ascended and became the most powerful of them all
interesting this popped up cos I just came on after watching return of the jedi again, BRILLIANT movie
-
but the emperor would have killed him if Vader didnt turn to the good side again
-
Quite true... quite true. I dunno... maybe Luke had a hidden psyche up power within him that would have raged up if the emperor tried. Perhaps the emperor was more powerful... but in the end the general idea of the way it was scripted was to lead you to believe that Luke was the most powerful.... well that\'s the way I perceived it anyway. I still think Obi-Wan or Kwai Gon Jin in their younger days would have slawed them all ;)
-
i think it may perhaps be luke...emperor did overpower him with his lightning like powers...but Luke overcame his mind tricks, he also converted Vader back to the good side. I think the emeror was more powerful than Vader (Luke turned vader back, it wasnt vader breaking free of the dark side himself) and then vader
remember, luke was still young, and his training was started late. there is no way he could have mastered the powers of the force by the time Return of the Jedi took place...alright, in my opinion, its Luke
i think if they had of trained Leia she would have slawed them all :)
-
yeah true, but I still go with Luke. Like you pointed out he started training late, and he didn\'t even complete the training with Yoda fully.... so a lot of it was natural skill. If they trained him hard he\'d slaw them no worries
hahah yeah, Leia was a bit of a machine wasn\'t she, i reckon she take a few heads
-
it was luke......but hes not as strong as he will be, he still need to learn much in the way of the jedi
-
YODA!!! Why is no one voting for Yoda? Yoda is obviously the most powerful. Remember, he died of old age because NO ONE COULD KILL HIM! I\'m hoping we will see Yoda in a lightsaber battle in episodes 2 or 3 because he will WHIP ASS! You\'ll be changing your tune after that.
-
hmm, the person with the most force in them i would say has to be Anakin Solo, Han and Leia\'s kid. Hope the kids goes to the dark side too . :D
-
Anakin Skywalker.
Simply. He was born out of midichloreans - he was the propechy, the Force as man. [ reminds me of Christianity - if there would be Jesus Christ on Star Wars universe, it would be Anakin ]
Remember that it was Darth Vader who defeated emperor, and defeated the Dark Side. He, almost hopeless, had the POWER to manipulate force and turn himself to the light side once again... wich is a task impossible to ANYONE else.
-
well i agree that darth vader is the most powerful
since luke could not handle the emperor yet when vader took him on the emperor could do nothing - making me say he was the most powerful of the three
but i also say yoda - he doesn\'t stand at the top in the Jedi Council for nothing
-
Yoda was more powerful.
If you read any of the books, later in the series Luke has an epiphony that Yoda was far more powerful than all of them. That the reason Yoda exiled himself to Dagobah was that he had become TO powerful to remain in society.
Thats the same reason that Obi-wan went into seclusion.
He realized that Yoda could have easily defeaten the Emperor, but Luke was the one that HAD to.
Read the books.

ehh? Vader only turned back to the light side because of Luke. It was Luke who brought him back to the good side. And Luke resisted the emperor, Vader gave in. How can you say Vader is more powerful when Luke was powerful enough not to join the dark side in the first place. PLUS, luke defeated Vader.
and i dont interpret Anikin as being the chosen one. They thought he was the chosen one, but they were mistaken. Luke was in fact the chosen one. Luke was the one who would bring balance to the force, and he did.
Faithdies says:

the emperor was focusing all his power on Luke, he was concentrating far to hard to forsee Vader changing back to the light side. He was taken by surprise.
and Yoda wasnt the most powerful...if the medicloreans were an indication of how strong the force was with you, you find out in episode one that Anikan had a higher mediclorean count.

Since when has Episode 1 been an argument for anything Star wars. That movie was REWRITTEN to appeal to a larger group who grew up with star wars but dont know anything about it. For example, in Episode 1 C3PO is created by anakin Skywalker. Is it just me or is this a big loophole for the REST OF THE SERIES! Originally, C3PO was created in a factory at the same time and programming as R2D2, and that why they are companions, because they are brothers in robot terms.
Errrr.
Its very annoying.

Yeah you\'re right about that whole R2D2-C3PO thing. It just doesn\'t make sense. :sconf:

why the hell did luke HAVE to do it? supposedly he was their last hope. Thats why luke had to do it, he was the only one that could. Oviously i dont know as much about star wars as you, but as that is my understanding from the movies

where in the movies does it explain all this? or is it from the books? I think they are going to use the first three epsiodes as a way of explaining all this. there is no obvious loop hole yet, as the first part of the star wars saga isnt complete. The same as how episode 2 and 3 will show anikans transformation into darth vader and his turn to the dark side. (well mainly episode 3, but 2 will set it all up)
-
Yoda was powerful.. but Anakin had a bigger midichlorean count than Yoda. Or he had in Episode I anyway.
Perhaps Luke is more powerful, but it wasn\'t Luke who turned Vader - it was the love towards Luke inside Vader wich turned him to light-side in the end. Vader saw Luke being tortured and nearly killed, so he finally woke up. The love inside him, the love wich was still left towards his son turned him to the light-side. He killed his God just for the love towards his son. Luke had nothing to do with this process, really. It was Vader\'s battle, and Anakin finally won. I haven\'t readed the books, but I\'m talking about Lucas\'s Star Wars now. The star wars we all know.
And, Anakin turned out to be a \'ghost\' just like Yoda and Obi-Wan. They were all strong, the three strongest in Force in SW universe. Luke was Anakin\'s son, and if Anakin was the chosen one, of course it would effect Luke.
Luke was strong in Force, but not the chosen one, nor as powerful as Anakin. It WAS Anakin who defeated the Emperor, it was ANAKIN who brought the balance to the Force finally. Anakin turned to the light-side himself, Anakin defeated Emperor.
-
ahhhhhhhh, i was just thinking that as i was reading your post. Anikan actually was the chosen one, as he was the one to overcome the emperor. But what about luke defeating vader, plus resisting the emperor and staying on the light side?
[edit]
ARGH! what am i saying, just because he overcame the emperor, didnt make him the chosen one, the chosen one was to bring balance to the force, not to overcome he emperor...id say if anyone \'brought a balance to the force\' it was Luke... damn, i hope all this is explained

Are you sure about that? All I remember is Qui-Gon saying something like "he has the highest mitichlorean count I\'ve ever seen." Has he seen Yoda\'s test results? Maybe he was implying "highest for a human" and wasn\'t even considering Yoda, who is a different species altogether.
I think that for measuring force power, you need to stick with what\'s actually displayed in the four films so far. Obi-Wan, Vader, and Luke collectively used the force to levitate some boxes, crush some windpipes, jump really high, etc. YODA LEVITATED AN X-WING! And that was just a demo... If he can do that, imagine what else he can do. I think Yoda is obviously the most powerful.
-
"He has bigger midi-chlorean count than Yoda!"
Obi-Wan to Qui-Gon, watching the midichlorean-count-meter on Queen\'s ship.
Well, you could think that it was Luke who turned Vader to the light side, bringing balance to the force. But it\'s two-bladed sword, and it could be the other way around as well...
:)
-
yoda may have been the strongest with the force, but not so good physiacally as in fighting. anakin/vadr had the potential to be the strongest, with a higher count than yoda, but never fullfilled his potential. luke or yoda may not of been stronger than anakin if he did reach hes potentia, but he didnt as he joined the dark side. luke ended up stronger than vader, but you dont know how much more powerful he is going to be when he grows older.

yes, they did say it was a hgher count than yoda and...so he lifted an X-Wing as a demo, Luke and vader never showed their full poweres either. Neither did the emperor (i dont think). Vader deflected \'bullets\' rom guns, and the emperor had lightning. Fact of the matter is, they never show you ANYONES full power with the force, or if they do, they dont tell you. Personally, im leaning back toward Luke, as he wasnt at his peak yet.

You guys should all read the books. Yoda was a true lightside master. The darkside has more access to sheer power (Luke dabbling in the darkside was able to easily create huge castles and stuff), but when yoda needed it his power was there. Either him or Obiwan could have slain the emporer and Darth, but both knew that luke was the one to do it (they could read the future, though it was cloudy). In the dying days of the clone wars, Yoda chased down a powefull dark jedi, and defeated him over days on dagobah. The book describes this as an fearsome battle that shattered the minds of the few crew that were with the sith.
Heh heh, talkin\' bout this makes me want to go back and read some of the books....
-
I cant believe Yoda is losing.. Yoda is the best in Star and always will be... Yoda TOUGHT Luke EVERYYHING. So if there was no Yoda, Luke would not be a Jedi Master... REMEMBER THAT.

we are talking about the movies, not the books

not true, Yoda tought him plenty, but Obi Wan also tought him. I think what made Luke so good was the fact he wasnt tought by any particular person, he was influenced by people from all walks of life due to the fact that he started his training so late. Han Solo, Chew Bacca, Leia...and the rest, they all had influence. Luke also tought himself a lot. Rember, Luke started his training much later than everyone else...

FatalX: Which exact books are talking about? I\'ve never read any of them, and I have no idea where to begin. When I see them in a bookstore, most of them look like crap. Probably many are. Which ones should I avoid?
-
Movies: Yoda - Luke got his ass kicked by Palpatine, Vader got smoked, and Palpatine himself couldn\'t forsee his own death. Yoda\'s the only one who didn\'t get the crap kicked out of him, and he forsaw the future.
Books: Probably Exar Kun (what a badass), though Luke now is more powerful than his father ever was.
-
yoda all the way.. he died from old age.. He TRAINED all the other jedi... luke etc.
But i wonder who would win.. Luke or young obiwan. Goin by the fight scenes.. I would say obiwan. :)
-
I would reread them all if I had them.
I made the mistake of just borrowing them from friends instead of buying them, and Know I cant find them anymore. Right now Rouge Squadron is my favorite set in the series, and Wraith Squadron is nearly as cool.
Other than that, I like the series about Thrawn.

emperor forsaw the future better than anyone did, thats why i dont see why he didnt see Vaders turn coming. Yoda (as of the movies) never got into a situation to get his ass kicked.

just because he trained the other jedi didnt make him more powerful. It meant he was wiser, and a better teacher. Any Jedi can train. Luke trained himself mostly
