Well, you could always rename it back to a .mp3 or .jpg (I think you mean .mpg, don\'t you?)

I don\'t know what the problem is.  It sounds like it\'s time for a good reformatting. :D

Are you saving the files to a specific file, or are you just downloading it into the internet cache?  If it\'s the latter, that could be your problem.  Download it to a specific file instead.

Make sure the file extensions are correct. If it still does it then you\'ll just have to rename the files everytime you want  to access it.

But if the problem persists you should probably format your HDD and start over. I know its alot to ask but as long as you save all your important stuff onto discs you\'ll be fine.

Hrmmm, can you say VIRUS?  Run anti-virus.  Format.  Live with constant renaming.  Lotsa solutions.

It sounds like some other program took over the associations for the file.  For your MP3 files, this is how to change it back.

Open Winamp.  Right click on the top bar in Winamp.  A menu should open.  Go down to options, then go to preferences.  While in preferences, click on the "setup" tab and go to "File Types."  Now just click on the files types you want Winamp to open.  This should override the other program and make Winamp open the files again.

According to your pictures, the files are being renamed like this:

name.mp3.vbs

This is bad news!  The file is trying to have two different extentions on it, which makes it completely useless.  It looks like the MP3 files on your computer are trashed. (Yes, you will need to redownload them :()  The one shown in the picture is only 10kb, which means that whatever program took over changed the size of the file.  It is unrecoverable now.  It could be a virus like FatalXception said, or it could be another program just messing stuff up.

What happens when you click on the MP3?  Does it take you into Winamp?  A different program? (if so, which program)  Or does it do something else?  I don\'t know if I can help too much without more information.

One more thing.  Do you have Visual Basic on your computer?  I think that might be the program that is causing this problem.

If something is appending an VB script to all your MP3s, it may very well be a virus.  I recommend that you get an antivirus program, download the most current virus definition file, and scan all your fixed drives.  Hopefully it hasn\'t done any other damage.

Well, I am starting to think it\'s a virus too.  Get a antivirus program and see if that fixes it.

Erm, it looks like a virus to me too. :(

BTW VB is short for Visual Basic, a programming language.

Looks like a virus to me. There is plenty of VBS viruses that do the exact same thing. Have you received any e-mails with VBS attachments?

VBS is short for Visual Basic Scripting.

There is plenty of trial versions of anti-viruses to download. Go to Download.com and look there.

Burn your Hard drive and that will get rid of it.  No seriously if you find a virus w/McAffe or Norton it will prompt you on what to do.  But me I\'d wipe the whole drive and start over.

It might also be useful to check out your file associations.  Like this,
Windows Explorer -> View -> Folder Options -> File Types tab
or in Windows 2000,
Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types
