Well the title explains it all. I had this fight with a guy named Jason a long time ago at my school. He thought Starwars.. but my vote definately has to go to the Star Trek guys. It\'s simple.. they have the technological edge. While the Starwars guys might fight with the force.. what\'s that going to do against Phasers, Photon Torpedos, and Cloaking devices??
Really, the most powerful weapon in the series has to be the Death Star.. and that could be taken out in just a few mintues. The guys fight with lazers for christ\'s sake.. it\'d be no contest. Even the Millenium Falcon, despite being much cooler than the Defiant, would be space debris is seconds.
They couldn\'t even run away, since I think the fastest StarWars ships can move is Light Speed while even the original Enterprise moved at a max of Warp 6. (6 X the Speed of light) Not to mention the almost total lack of Sheilds in the StarWars universe.

my vote went to star trek...remember, not everyone had power with the force. Star Trek was a very technically advanced universe, where as Wars was quite primitive in soe aspects, if you know what i mean

Just kidding. Star Trek would own Star Wars. If the UFP could hold off the Borg, they could certainly take out the Deathstar with no problem.

as much as it pains me to say it and vote it, star trek would win. I\'ve ALWAYS been a huge fan of star wars, but never got into star trek, i\'ve never been a fan. But the simple fact is star trek would win.... unless of course the star wars side bagged wolverine ;)

Star Trek - because even if they did loose the fight theyd find some crap technobabble solution to travel back in time and set it all right so that next episode everything would be status quo. Sigh, stupid scriptwriters. :P

I think the worlds depicted in many of the movies shown on "Mystery Science Theater 3000" would easily kill the Star Wars/Trek universe.

Anyhooo, had I spotted this thread earlier, I would\'ve endorsed the StarTrek Universe 100%, sighting their technological advantage, as most here have. However, in light of the current situation, I must go against my better judgement and follow my heart (in contrast to what the traitor, Gradman has done). Like a lawyer defending an unquestionably guilty client, I shall defend the StarWars universe.

The real question here is, how will Phasers, Photon Torpedoes and Cloaking Devices going to stand a chance against the all-powerful power of THE FORCE. Its been known to move ships of great mass (StarDestoryers), totally resist enormous energy blasts and all sorts of whacky stuff!!!
*ForceUser faced with a Phaser Weilding Ensign?
-Grab it from his/her hand and then use it against him/her!
*Phaser shoots before ForceUser can do anything?
-Block the blast with.. The FORCE!!
*ForceUser faced with a Galaxy Class Starship, or some really advanced StarTrek Space Craft, like a Borg Cube?
-Crash the hostile ship into some huge heavenly body
-OR remotely dismantle the ship
-OR Fry the crew\'s brains!!!
-OR Take control of the crew!!!
*No cloaking technology?
-"Cloud" the enemies\' minds so they don\'t see you.

-Leave it, its attempts to alter the timeline in its favour will fail.

Starwars wouldn\'t have a chance.. even with the FORCE.
The force won\'t stop the borg. or a photon torpedo.

But Star Trek does have the technological edge.
Their ships travel much faster,both with warp,and at impulse
Their shields can\'t be penetraded by lazers,which is what they use in Star Wars
The biggest thing they use in Star Wars are fighters,they are merely insects to Federation ships and they need not worry about them.
The big SW ships are loaded with fire power,they have much bigger lazers,but as I said the ST shields just dissepate lazers.
The only advantige that the SW people have is the Jedi thing,but I doubt they could take on a bunch of ST ships.

The force is what gives a Jedi (or a Sith) his power, but no Jedi or Sith has been powerful enough to use his almighty force powers to save their own lives. Just about every Sith or Jedi using the force has died with the only exceptions being Luke and Leia simply because no one remains to oppose them, but even Boba Fett came close to whiping Luke\'s carcass clean off the face of the Earth and this is a guy who is supposed to be "the chosen one."
The Death Star is about the most technologically superior station in the entire universe, but it\'s slow, it has a HUGE exhaust port which must be dumping out tons of toxic waste, and it has lasers for defense with a range of about 2 miles. Ohhh... scary. So what about it\'s big gigantic planet destroying laser? Any smart captain would learn that the large indented shape is the source of the weapon, so if you stay behind the giant globe, you can easily avoid that and clobber it from long distance. 3 Borg Cubes would be more then enough to assimilate the entire Star Wars universe in a matter of weeks.
Even the Millenium Falcon, despite being much cooler than the Defiant, would be space debris is seconds.
So long as you acknowledge that the Defiant is one tough ass ship, I won\'t refute this comment.

One must also remember that the ST ships could just beam a Tri-Cobalt device or two near the core of the death star or a Star-Destroyer.
They wouldn\'t even have to worry about dropping their shields because alot of ships now have ablative armor.
And they would probly send in their best ships like the Defiant,the Promethius and the Enterprise-E and one would hope they\'d throw in an Akira or two :D

they have the deathStar, and would use it on Cpt Pickard and crew :D
then they would destroy DS9 and voyager too boot :D

Actually William Shatner is a very hated man,both amongst the Trek community and by his fellow castmembers.
The only ones that liked him were Leonard Nimoy and DeForest Kelley.

While I think that Trek would win, but it would be close.
People forget that Star Wars ships do have ray and particle shielding. You have to look at more than just the death star, look at the fact that the empire had thousands of star destroyers. Look at the fact that when you use the force, you can make your people fight 50% better than other humans. You forget how truly powerfull the force is. Jedi rarely/never use the power of the force, and if you read the series, the emperor destroys a Super Star Destroyer (class 2), as well as a huge space fleet, because he looses his temper/control for a few seconds. Star trek may definitely have the technological edge, but they would have no defence against the few force masters who would be willing to use their power to it\'s fullest.
I think that if you compared the series in THEIR CREATED TIME PERIODS (ie real time), so only looking at Star Wars 4-6, and Star Trek (the original), then the star wars galaxy would win. Remember, a lot of the advantages that new trek shows have come from technology, which has progressed in our imaginations in the last 25 years, while we look at the Star Wars dinosaur.

I think in a battle that takes place in space itself Star Trek would win but in an all out land war Star Wars could take it. Still I voted for Star Wars because its not as corny as Star Trek.

Depends if you\'re also incorporating the extended (and much cooler) Star Wars Universe that are covered in the books that are supposed to follow Episode 6.
If so, to your first point Exar Kun (the dude who created the Sith in Kevin J. Anderson\'s book, and not Darth Bane as described in Terry Brooks\' retarded Episode 1 book) took on an army of 1000 jedi and even though they killed his body he\'s spirit still remained and helped turned Kyp Durron to the dark side not to mention he kicked the living snot out of Luke (who at the time was a Jedi Master). I figure Exar Kun could take Data. ;)
Then you\'ve got a whole bunch of other Jedi now in the Jedi academy, including the coolest of the bunch - Corran Horn (think a Jedi Han Solo with a twist of Obi Wan), and tons of others like Mara Jade, Jacen, Jaina and Anakin Skywalker (Leia\'s youngest son) - and that\'s just to name a few. I\'m sure they could take out the Klingons and those Shape Shifter guys.
As for the death star - well the DS is a pea shooter compared to Centrepoint Station that orbits Correlia (Han Solo\'s home) which has the power to destroy stars from across the galaxy. You also have the Sun Crusher developed by Qui Xux (the clueless woman who also invented the Death Star) - the Sun Crusher is indestructable - Kyp Durron used it to smash right through planets and it can cause stars to Super Nova. I figure Centrepoint Station and the Sun Crusher could take the borg.
You also now, with Michael A. Stackpole, R.A Salvatore, and James Luceno\'s books, the most bad-ass villians in sci-fi history - the Yuhzan Vong who\'re currently (in the series) making the jedi their *****es.
OF COURSE - this is if you use the extended Star Wars Universe as described in the books.
If you use silly Lucas\' universe by itself......I figure Picard and Data in a runabout could take down the empire. :)

Sh!te, I forgot, even with the extended SW universe, Star Trek has Q.....one snap of his fingers and the Jedi all disapear, as do Centrepoint Station and the Sun Crusher. :)
Oh well.... I still prefer the SW Universe.
