GA: Many developers have expressed difficulty in creating games for the PS2 hardware - has this been the case during the development of NBA Street?
JH: The PS2 hardware poses some definite challenges in unleashing the full potential of the platform. Once you\'ve negotiated some of these initial obstacles, there\'s a lot of power there to work with. Throughout the development of Street we learned a great deal about the system, and we are very pleased with the results.

Hmmmm, if you get the Hang of it\'s not hard at all.
Here is a quote from a guy at PS2IGN boards.
"You only get back what you put into the system which Konami, Square, Electronic Arts etc have proved with there great looking titles.....
Those oddworld developers were just to dam lazy taking the wimpy way out and wanna whine "the ps2 console is to difficult to program for", they probably kicking themselves now for jumping ship to soon seeing how the ps2 games look now...idiots."
Maybe now developers are starting to realise that once you spend a bit of time with the system, they do infact have some significant power to work with.
"It almost seems as if many developers for the 1st gen games were expecting the PS2 to just do everything for them, while they sat back writting a few lines of code here and there to invoke the PS2\'s power... sorry folks that aint gonna happen... And instead of putting their heads into it.. just decided to kick back and complain about how hard programming for the system was... "

I don\'t know, he kind of says "Yea it\'s tough, but we got through it," rather than "It wasn\'t tough." The interesting part here is not that it was still tough, though, it\'s that no one ever really realized that if the developers can still figure it out, then it doesn\'t really matter what they had to do to get there.
The point is that it might be tough to develop for the PS2, but the developers are figuring it out regardless. (Obviously.)

I think the developers are slowely but surely going to bring ace games out which is going to give Xbox and Gamecube a go at Launch.
We just don\'t need crap titles (Crash comes to mind) to ruin what the developers has improved on and make the PS2 look like crap. The PS2 is much more powerfull than what the media makes it out to be....and it still makes me a proud owner of a PS2.

I guess some developers are really weak and have no brainpower to re-think..
Some people have a tough time developing..
Some can do it more easily..
They better learn to do it the PS2 way.. Cuz that might be the future ;)
Or so the experts says. :D

Why bother to figure out how to work with a wheel that someone re-invented, when you can use something more powerful, and easy?????
MONEY

Yeah... Who needs those new fangled rubber wheels when these here wooden ones work just fine:p Hehe

Sorry bad spin attempt, what does what you just said have anything do with my comment. It\'s one thing to improve upon the wheel, ie..rubbe, and another to try and renvite it.
-
Forget it then.....
I just found it humorous, that\'s all.

NBA Streets looks awesome I happy EA is finally doing something good. They had a horrible showing with NBA LIVE and the underdeveloped madden.
I mean it takes time to learn new hardware. It is gonna be hard until you finally learn it. Some learn faster some slower. I am glad developers are finally learing it.
-
i figure that most developers are used to having to figure out how a new console works, especially Konami, and such. they live for these kinds of things. their job is to figure out a console and use it to create games.
but still you must understand that the ps2 is harder to develop for compared to GC and Xbox.

Very True, there is nothing worse than hardware developed without thinking about the implications of software. The best Hardware is when both the Hardware and software developers work together or in sync with one another, just like the guys over at good old NVIDIA.
PS... 4-5 years ago I said to many people to buy stocks in NVIDIA. I knew those guys since the days of the rivia were going to be BIG.

Well actually OGodly, if everyone just settled in complacany with what they had, then new and more effecient ways of getting things done would never be invented. Then again, I suppose you\'d probably be happier stopping your car every 6 feet so you could get out and put another log in front of it. :D
(In case you don\'t understand, which I know you probably won\'t.. the earliest wheels are thought to be fallen logs that stoneage man would put heavy loads on to. Take six or seven pencils and place them in a row on your desk and set a book on top of them. Then push the book. You\'ll find it easier to move than scooting it across the desk, however you\'ll have to take the back pencil and move it to the front as the book rolls over it.)

TheOgodlyThing... I think I speak for everyone here when I say...

Oh How Mature......LMAO (Bedtime little johnny)
Now SONYFAN I hear what you are saying, but there is a difference in Improving one thing, and trying to recreat another.
Matter of fact you should hear what DocWiz has to say about this, he knows better than I in this paticular area.

Well then he should be the one posting the messages, and you should be keeping your mouth shut if you cannot back up your convictions.

Maybe you should learn to read, I can back up what I say you Illiterate MORON, although if you want to hear from a better point of view DOCWIZ is the man to talk to. Geshhh

"Maybe you should learn to read, I can back up what I say you Illiterate MORON" - OGodly
Read what? Your mind? Come on now, if all you\'re going to do is talk big and then call people names when they ask you to put your money where you mouth is, then you reduce yourself to nothing but a low-grade spammer.
If you support your point of view for any valid reason, then you must have somekind of substance to back up your claims. By not being able to explain your own beliefs, the rest of us are forced to conclude that you only believe what you do because in your mind, the Xbox is "infallable"... so somehow.. someway.. it must be better than the PS2 in any and everyway.
So how about YOU do the reading. YOU look up the information, and then bring it back here to debate your point of view. This forum isn\'t here to bash other consoles or to engage in ignorant pissing matches. It\'s to debate and share information on other systems. If you don\'t want to do either, then don\'t bother posting.

Interesting maybe you should listen to your own advise.
if all you\'re going to do is talk big and then call people names when they ask you to put your money where you mouth is
Talk big about what??? if so than may i sugesst you put your mouth where the money is too, huh...that what i thought and calling you names, well let\'s think about this why would I do that????TAKE A LOOK ----- "and you should be keeping your mouth shut if you cannot back up your convictions."
And you wonder Why i got aggresive and called you a Moron, if you talk **** to me, then I will throw it back at you. Do I come and here and call you names, and trash you for no reason, NOPE!!!!. Instead it was you who chose to take that path, next time talk to me with respeact as I will do the same. I don\'t ever bash people without them doing it first, it\'s just not my nature.
By not being able to explain your own beliefs, the rest of us are forced to conclude that you only believe what you do because in your mind, the Xbox is "infallable
Who said I can\'t explain my own beliefs, not me.. It seems you are putting words into my mouth and you wonder why I called you illiterate, you obviously jumped to conclusions. I will explain it one more time you, I Felt that are little debate in the beginning was getting nowhere, So I suggested that you listen to DOCWIZ\'s side of the issue, as I said, he has a fresherand more understand perspective on the matter than I , but that doesn’t mean I don\'t know what I’m talking about and that is where you assumed and jumped to the conclusion that I knew nothing about the issue.

It is best not to make these debates personal. Though someone may seem to have an uncanny resemblance to the lowest of one celled life forms, that certain someone is still an intelligent life form, by definition. Retailation is inevitable in cases such as these, let not the vicious cycle continue. (Disclaimer: I am stating this as a ubiquitous generalisation. There is no hidden subtext that reffers to anyone in particular)
Now, back to this topic....
Implicit suggestions here subtly label the Xbox as uninvotative and "complacant" technology. While people here debate this, they would do well to remember that any leanings towards this statement is a leaning in the opposite direction to that of John Carmac\'s(id Software - Quake) and Tim Sweeny\'s(Epic - UT). And most importantly, me ;)

Oh man.
Sony--- Tried a new method to the flow of programming, so naturally their will be conflicts since 99% of the programming world has been innundated for years to the old way.
Xbox-- Didn\'t.
Easy.
Now you all can fight if you want about which is better, but really it\'s all IYO. Now it\'s come to paragraph disecting LOL!!
Personally I believe the "old" way has run it\'s course and theirs nothing wrong with Sony trying a new approach (architecture) to things. You may feel differently, but time will tell.
If Sonys approach is better, this will be reflected in the next generation of consoles, and maybe even in the field in general. OTOH, if Sony\'s method is "re-inventing the wheel" and truly is a waste of efforts, by it\'s very nature it will fail as a standard, and future projects will revert to the "old" way.
Then again, I could be insane.

Stop sitting on the fence and take a side dammit!

PS2 is a new toy, anybody with enough time and money will make this system perform. :D
