Alright, this just started up in the wake of some rumors that Havas is considering production on a new Larry game. There aren\'t many signatures on it, but hopefully that will change quickly. Sign up.. even if you\'re not a fan of the series.. and help bring one of the most hilarious and fun games back to life! If you\'ve got the time and are feeling generous, also spread it around to other game forums imploring their members to sign as well.
Tell Havas or Sierra to give us our Larry 8: Lust in Space!

FUK YEAH!
i have signed and i am awaiting my prize...oh, shirt
eh well, Leasure Suit Larry must live on.
-
I signed it, because I can still remember the days when Sierra was known for more than just Half-Life. Of course, that was back before they fired The Two Guys from Andromeda and Al Lowe, the stupid bastards. In fact, I don\'t even think Ken & Roberta are still making games there.
-
Yeah Kane, neither Ken or Roberta are making games anymore for sierra.
You should talk to SonyFan, hell give you the whole story.
-
Actually, funny thing is Sierra fired Al Lowe back in 1986. Even before the first Larry game was ever made. Turns out Sierra invested heavily into C64 or Amiga or some other cartridge based computer/videogame system and it ended up flopping. They had to scale down from 120 employees to just under 50. Al was one of those cut, but the very same day Ken offered to contract Lowe into making more games. On contract, Al ended up making nearly twice as much since his salery depended on how well the games sold. Turns out, Larry was a very successful frachise.
To quote Al...
Al: "So, I take it I\'m fired."
Ken: "Yep"
Al: "Cool"
Also, from what I\'ve heard Roberta is still employed by Sierra but is taking a long vacation. Ken started up TalkSpot, which tanked, and is currently starting a new Internet buisness. Mark Crowe is working for Pipeworks Software, and helped create some of the Xbox\'s tech demos as well as programming a game for it. Scott Murphy is, AFAIK, retired from the games industry for good. (Since you seemed interested in the Two guys from Andromeda, I thought I\'d let you in on that.)

SonyFan, are you the one ages ago that i was talking to in the chat and we got into a conversation abou Leasure Suit Larry, and that i was gonna order the games or something? that was a while ago, and im trying to figure out who that was
-
Yup, that was probably me. I think I told you to go ahead and d/l LSL1 Original or Remake from an Abandonware site, and then buy the series if you liked it. Then again, I\'ve told a lot of people that. ;)

you\'ll hafta ask sonyfan for a definate site, but try looking around at old abandonware sites, should be able to find em...maybe even the cool updated versions. they rock

You can still buy the series from Sierra at http://www.sierra.com The pack is called "Larry\'s greatest hits and misses" (1-7) and even includes Larry\'s Casino and the text adventure "Softporn", off which the first game was based. I dunno if the Laffer Utilities are included.. but if it\'s not, then I can get it to you no problem.
Softporn is Abandonware, regardless of weither Sierra sells it or not. The creator and copyright owner (Not Al, although he has all the pass codes for the series on his site) is giving it away on his site, which is where I downloaded it from. As Bob said, you can download pretty much the entire series off of Abandonware sites, but I\'d prefer it if you only D/l\'d the first one (VGA Enhanced or EGA, your choice), and then made a purchasing decision based on that.
Try abandonware.org or DosGraveyard. I could get in trouble if I posted a link, but just doing a Google search will bring them right up. Enjoy.
