I think the movie was great.
-
For my girlfriend and I it was a BIG HIT,we loved the film.
-
I liked it a lot. If only all video game movies were this decent... I\'m waiting for news of a sequel. Animal mother told me it was #1 this weekend.... I have no doubt there will be one.
Now I only pray FF: TSW will be as good....

is this out in the uk yet????? hmmmmm anyone know???
-
Haven\'t seen it myself yet, but when my brother saw it, he said it was only okay. Now, that is a lot better then most games to movies.
-
No kopking it isnt out in the uk yet,i THINK it is out on the 3rd of July.
-
Strange, seems like a love/hate movie. Some people thinks it\'s ok, others think it\'s absolutely horrible.
-
I thought it was great! It had a game-like quality and the ever-so-lusted-after Angelina Jolie! The hype was worth it. (Plus, did y\'all see the preview for "The Rat Race" it looks hilarious!)

So far, most people like it. I don\'t personally know anyone who hated it...
All the hate seems to be coming from people who won\'t watch it and give it a chance.

Opens on Wednesday in AUS!

I loved the movie. IGN, on the other hand, despised it. They picked the movie apart and whined about the stupidest things (go read the review to see what I mean.) I never knew the guy before, but I will never respect Glen Oliver, the person who did the review, again. He is just an idiot. He gave it zero stars.

Here\'s some excerpts from the review (inked previously by IronFist). I just thought I could give some counter-opinions, so here they are.
1)" . . .why do people use flashlights in caves when the caves they\'re in are lit by close-to-daylight lighting?"
I actually agree with this one, but the lights looked cool though.
2) "Why did an ancient civilization create gigantic stone warriors...designed to spring to life and kick the ass of anyone messing with their temple...if these stone warriors can be taken down by karate chops (or a bullet) just like a human?"
Obviously they didn\'t know about the bullets, and stone was probably the stongest affordable solution.
3) "Why did the same civilization break a stone key needed to control time into two pieces...and hide them on opposite ends of the Earth to prevent anyone from ever using/abusing said key...instead of pulverizing the key entirely so it could never be re-assembled and utilized?"
What fun would be in that? It\'s like all other movies, someone always does something stupid, and the hero fixes it.
4) "Why do Eskimo sled dogs feel the need to attack an undulating, dimensional warping effect which is doing nothing to provoke them when, in reality, such a thing would scare the piss out of any self-respecting canine?"
Uh, have you ever shined a light on the wall and watch your dog go crazy chasing it?
5) "LC:TR\'s villains are weak – their "plot" (i.e. what they intend to do once they attain the power they seek) is unclear – thus what good-girl Lara is struggling to thwart has no resonance or meaning to the audience – which means the film has no drive."
What doesn\'t he understand? Bad guys are bad and it\'s the hero\'s job to kick their butts! That\'s all the plot I need! (Although, the whole inter0twined story of Laura Crofts father did have quite an effect on a woman a couple rows behind me, she was crying and sniffling)
6) "Here, people go from place to place...and carry-out action after action...in a meandering fashion which suggests the filmmakers were simply pulling concepts out of their butts & smearing them across the screen. Because they had nothing else for their characters to do at a given moment, or because it looked cool."
Hmm, just like in video games. Maybe the movie does this because, oh my gosh, it\'s modeled after a video game!
7) "But the film doesn\'t look cool."
Oh, but it does! Granted it\'s not a great as some action movies past, but it ranks up there!
8) (insert the endless blabing about the set design here)
Um, the sets were modeled. . . after the game. i thought they looked good, and very Tomb Raider-esque.
Then they go on and on, I get bored reading the review, so I\'ll stop here.

I haven\'t seen it,but tell me,how were the scenes that were made in the arctic?
They are the only thing that interest me because they were shot here in good\'ol Iceland.
So were there alot of them?
Did they only show snow and bad weather?
Did they show me dancing naked in the snow trying to impress Angelina Jolie?
Did it look hostile and impossible to live in?
Answer me these questions 4 and nO-One will say something nice about you.
-
There wasn\'t proportionally too much, and no storms, that might have been you (you were pretty far away), and they had to use these cool boats with wheels to get around. (It looked really cold, everyone was in full parka-type gear, except for Laura Croft, who must have enough fat in her chest to keep her warm.)
-
Troglodyte is really cool
(nO-One honors his agreements)

There definitley will be a sequel. Angelina Jolie is signed to play Lara Croft in 2 more movies! :D:D:D

I thought it sucked. I\'m sorry, to anyone who liked it. But, for me, it seemed to be just a "mindless summer movie" and I hate those. So, needless to say durin\' the lenght of the movie I was wishing to get out of there.

MISS
Poor storyline. Poor ending. Poor character build-up.
The only thing I can say is nice action and ok special effects.
-
hmmmm. Did they bounce? :D

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tomb Raider...
Was #1 for the weekend, grossing $48.2 million.
Was the biggest opening weekend ever for a female-starring feature film.
Was the best opening ever for a movie based on a video game.
Was the third-best June opening weekend ever.
Per screen average was $14,570 in 3,308 theaters.
I didn\'t see it, maybe next weekend.

One bad thing about the story line (or more). Well...........her dad anted her to smash the triangle, she got it and she gave it to the bad guys! She liked that other tomb raider?SINCE WHEN!?
She was a bit nutty dont ya think? In the scene when she is using the dogs to get out of the cave, whats she standing on and why is she laughing?!
In the ancient temple and in the dead zone who was that little girl? They couldve had more stuff bout her in it.
In the temple how can she be strong enough to drop kick the stone thing and make it hit the big thing?
But, nice special efects.
oh ya and when time was frozen if she was gonna just kill the guy why didnt she shoot him instead of just moving the daggers direction?
-
Stupid Kids, Should have known this movie was going to BLOW....
Oh and it will be number 1 until Fast and Furious comes out and knocks it the **** off the charts.

"Well...........her dad anted her to smash the triangle, she got it and she gave it to the bad guys!"
- As a tomb Raider, she was curious to see what would happen when the triangle was joined, and she always wanted to turn back time and save her father.
"She liked that other tomb raider?SINCE WHEN!?"
- Apparently she knew him before, and had a possible relationship, remeber "Always a pleasure" when she looked down at his crotch?
"She was a bit nutty dont ya think? In the scene when she is using the dogs to get out of the cave, whats she standing on and why is she laughing?!"
- I\'m sure that\'s a little Angelina Jolie peeking through.
"In the ancient temple and in the dead zone who was that little girl? They couldve had more stuff bout her in it."
- I\'m thinking she was a spirit, guarding the triangle, leading Laura to it so that she sould keep it safe. But being a spirit she also knew waht Laura was going to do with it.
"In the temple how can she be strong enough to drop kick the stone thing and make it hit the big thing?"
- I wish I could do that! :)
"Oh ya and when time was frozen if she was gonna just kill the guy why didnt she shoot him instead of just moving the daggers direction?"
- But wasn\'t it cool, the whole struggling against time and the blood and all?

Cuz the blade would end up hitting the other Tomb Raider, and I guess she didn\'t wanna waste a bullet if she could move the dagger(cuz shes really practical :D)
