Got this info for msnxbox forum........
"just watching game network, they have this "E3 REPLAY" show, anyway, GN were interviewing a rep of sega, talking about all the stuff they got coming out for the different consoles, they started talking about Shenmue 2 for DC and some of the problems they had making it, Then when asked what was in store for shenmue in the future, he let slip... and i quote "With the hard-drive in the xbox, and its pure graphical and rendering power, we will be able to render Huge interactive enviroments which we havnt been able to do with the first 2 games"
He seemed a little nervous after he said this, like as if he shouldnt have been telling people!"
I don\'t know what that means. But that sounds like sega giving a hint about doing shenmue on xbox. How many systems have a harddrive built in? The only one I know of is xbox. So it could happen.
-
Well since the XBOX is the most graphically powered console and has a built in HDD, Shenmue can be taken to the next level.
-
A little birdy (who went to E3 amoung other things) told me GC was getting Shenmue 3. That doesn\'t mean XB won\'t get it too, but I don\'t see Suzuki doing it on 2 systems.... thats just my opinion....
-
That would be shame if a game like shenmue is to be put ont the GAME CBE. What does gamecube offer any more than the DC besides better looking graphics????

That\'s enough for me.... ;)

really. A game like Shenmue doesn\'t really NEED a harddrive. I can survive with having multiple disks...have so since SegaCD. But I don\'t really care where it goes onlt that I will probably be supporting my X-Box way more than my GC, I would like to see it on X-Box.

I couldn\'t see shenmue coming to gamecube maybe ps2 since yu is working on vf4. Xbox will proably be able to handle the textures the best of all the systems. X box may be a good choice for it.

Must...follow...Ryo....wherever....he....goes........

Hehe. Anyone know if Shenmue 2 is To Be Continued as well?
AM2 has said they are working on Playstation 2 and Gamecube, however they may be working on XBox too without having announced it yet. No one knows until it comes from Sega\'s mouth.

I\'m not sure I understand your question completely; but Shenmue is supposed to be a 15(17?) part series.

the hell it doesn\'t. Any game that wants to boast huge interactive enviroments that can be continuosly revisted needs a harddrive to be able to realize this scope.
I don\'t think you really understand how big and how much more can be done on a console that has a harddrive included with it. The possibilities are a heluva alot larger, and depth in these games can be humongous compared to memory only based consoles.
A game like Shenmue which thrives on interactivity would benefit so much from the XBox\'s HD.
I can\'t wait for some 2nd gen XBox RPG\'s. .

I think Ddaryl just explained it!!!!!

They did fine with Shenue on DC. I am just saying, the hard drive would be nice. but it is NOT needed, especially with disks 4 times larger than DC disks.
It would be nice though.
I, like Ashford, will follow Ryo\'s advenutres throughout his videogame life.

That\'s where I disagree.

Its has nothing to do with the amount of data stored on a DVD compared to a Sega GD. Its more about being able to interact with the enviroment change things, smash things etc,,, and then come back to these areas in the game hours later and find them still in there re-arranged states because of the XBox\'s ability to store this data on the harddrive. SOmething limited memory consoles cannot afford. Not only enviroments but depth of gameplay should also be increased.
and I\'m sure Shenmue on the DC was a fine game, but the game can be much more deep with a developer capable of and with enough of a vision to really tap the potential of a harddrive in a console
There are tremendous advantages to a harddrive in a console and I really hope some talented developers making games for XBox really find ways to change the face of console gaming with the Harddrive.

hmm, I guess I never thought of it that way.
Guess it would be much better, that is to say if they used X-Box\'s potential, on X-box.
here\'s to hoping!

another thing that has brought me up to the potential of a HD in a console is playing Red Faction
Red Faction was a great fun FPS but eh GEO MOD engine was hyped and didn\'t really make it into the game at the scale anyone was expecting
why, well the inability to deform all this terrain and have the console remember what had been done. Because of I feel the great game that Red Faction is still came considerably short of its potential do to limitations.
With a Developer like Sega who knows console gaming who has huge vision and big budgets. The XBox and its harddrive should prove to be a fantastic way to further innovate console games.
I\'m really looking forward to the 1st "AAA" RPG on Xbox. Games like Project Ego or Morrowind (I think I got the name right) Both these games are boasting realtime aging, all shaped by the direction you guide and build your character.
It will be interesting to see how the HD in XBox shapes the future of console games

I agree. I think all consoles after this generation will have some sort of built in storage device; due to the numerous possibilities for gameplay innovation. A lot of Xbox games are gonna either change their respective genres or redefine NEW genres. I for one am looking forward to them too.
BTW, I agree with Altered and Ashford, Where Hazuki-san goes, I go. :D

I\'d link you guys to where I was told it was going to GC, but it\'s on a inapropriate site, and I respect the rules of this forum.
