yea jp6666, the cables that the PS2 comes with "composite cables" are the lowest of the low besides and rfu adaptor, switching from composite to an s-video cable it like night to day, there is a huge difference in picture quality, color, and sound. I have my PS2 hooked up with Gamelink 300 Monster S-video Cables only because im a hardcore PS2 gamer and I want to suck out all the juice my PS2 kicks. Monster S-video cables cost a pretty penny though unless you go to best buy and get ones that are already opened package then they\'ll give you 10 bucks off, they cost about 40 bucks, I paid about 30. i recommend you buy the monster s-video cables cause they give you the best of everything you\'r looking for in picture and sound quality, if you dont have the money then just buy some interact generic s-video cables, they work fine also and cost about 15-20 bucks. I wouldnt recommend getting the component cables because they are more expensive than S-video and the it very little difference between s-video and component, but i heard this depends on the T.V
as for your stereo problem i have no clues, but what happens when i play cd\'s on my PS2 it sounds like the voices are echos and its pretty trippy, is thta what your talking about?

nope its not about the echo :D and also i know i plugged my PS2 with RCA , but i don\'T know about component and all that sh/t
EDIT: i only have RCA hookups on my TV ... should i just get the gamelink monster cables 200 ?

to tell you the truth i wouldnt get Gamelink 200 Monestr cabels it a wats of money cause you paying for upgraded composite cables wich wont look as good as s-video, just stick with what you got for now, or buy a new TV :)

Wooooh... STOP IT RIGHT THERE... you do WHAT ???
Let me try to understand: The audio cables are going from your PS2 into the TV and then to your surround sound system ???! WHY ???
Just plug the audio outputs direct into the surround sound system (only video stays in TV) !!!
You go from A to B to C, but all you have to do is connect A with C... that´s it !
The best way to connect your PS2 with a surround system is to use the optical output of the PS2... if you don´t have an optical input on your surround system, then use the cinch cable (left/right) and plug tem into a free part of your surround system... that can be Aux2 or Tape2 or VCR2 and so on (but don´t use phono !) Everytime you want to use your PS2, switch on the surround system + the TV and have fun !!!

yo jp, I think that the monster is the cable, because one time he attacked me and I had to use cookie dough on it and then he turned on me and all hell broke lose. That\'s the simple part, the hard part is even easier says I!

ok !!! WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ?

ok im not sure if his TV is like mine but when he says that he has the PS2 audio hooked up to his TV and the surround sound hooked up to his TV , it\'s because the back of the TV has red and white plugs that say Surround above them, the TV in my room is a 27 " Sony Trinitron with S-video and RCA hook ups as well as surrounds sound hook ups in the back.
thats how i get surround sound straight from ym TV, is that what you mean JP???
-
pretty much ya ! not the best TV around .... thats why i wanted cables that makes my images clearer !
-
Yeah, OK, but why do you go from A to B to C ??? The signal will lose some power... try to connect it the DIRECT way, maybe it sounds better !
And please verify if your surround system has an optical in !!! THAT´s the best way !!!!!

It really makes no sense to go into your tv with the PS2 audio and then go to your stereo. You should plug all A/V equipment into your stereo and then run one chord to your tv from your stereo.
Easy as pie.

There is a lot of debate on this. Basically, if you have a REALLY nice TV, better cables are worth it.
However, pretty much every audiophile I know swears that MOSTER is nothing more that marketing hype.
Better cables? Maybe.
Moster? No.
My $.02

he is right. Analog tvs are things in the past, (50ish time.) We are moving to the new century. Buy HDTV, especially the widescreen format! Digital is all the way to go. Sony WEGA are like standard tvs, only difference, i repeat only difference is that is only flat. That\'s all. Same source, NTSC. Analog signal...and sony kinda overprice the tv.

I would never call anyone a loser.. Um, yeah, right.. hehehe..
Well buying a 4x3 NTSC is not a bad thing. I just would never buy one that has some cost involved. I mean why pay 1500 bucks for an NTSC TV when for another grand you ahve an HD.
That\'s all I\'m a sayin\'....
You will poop in your pants to know how much HD is on the horizon. Marc Cuban is ready to announce a 24 hour sports network for Direct TV. This is going to be awesome.
