Title: My idea for the first Mario game
Post by: Eiksirf on June 28, 2001, 04:20:48 PM
There has been speculation that a game named Mario Sunshine could be the first Cube Mario title, interacting somehow with Luigi\'s Mansion.

If that rumor turns up false, I have my own idea for how Mario should hit the cube - and how to sell a long lost peripheral at the same time.

I say, release Mario as a two games in one disc. One disc, two games. Why not, we have a lot of space. Here\'s the cool thing, the second game would be Duck Hunt 2!

The game would cost ten dollars more than the average Cube game, but it would also come packed in with Nintendo\'s new light gun. Now we all know that this title would sell nearly 1:1 with Gamecubes, opening the doors wide for third parties to make light gun games.

Even without that, though, just having the sequels to two of the best games released together just like on the NES would be WELL worth the money.

Now that I think about it, this would raise the target audience for the title, as well.  Not only do light gun games appeal to older gamers, so would the nostalgia of bringing back the Mario/Duck Hunt game pak...

I doubt this will happen, but I\'ll be damned if I don\'t think it should!

Duck Hunt eh... I think you\'re insane, but I\'ll be damned if I didn\'t pick it up at launch!  Good call Eik.

For ten bucks more I would buy it. Good idea, as long as it had the laughing dog whe you missed everything.

Wouldn\'t it be neat if the dog still laughed at you but when you shot at it, it had several dodging animations depending on your aim at the time?  That would be funny, plus you wouldn\'t be able to kill it that way which would anger parents, I\'m sure.

As for improvements, the ducks could now get farther away, as well.  It could also be more natural, ducks flying in from the sky, bullets being impaired by surrounding environments, etc.

One cool thing could be a new mode or a bonus level or something where a whole flock of ducks emerge from the weeds at one time and you try to pick off as many as possible.

It would also have to have the old game hidden in it too. I\'m sad that this game really isn\'t coming out :(

Very good idea, Eiksirf.  It would bring Mario back to its roots.  That is when a lot of us were introduced to video games, so I think it would help bring back the old school people.

Duck Hunt?  Why not a port of Area 51 or something?  Just a suggestion...

But THAT wasn\'t part of the Mario Bros./ Duck Hunt combo game.  This is for nostalgia purposes.
