I was wanting to get the informed opinions from the members on the BEST remote to run the PS2 (playing movies etc.) The present one using the controllers basically is all but useless. I know there are several out there, but one I saw looked like the graphical equivalent of the what the control screen looks like, which is less than straightforward (too simplistic to grasp perhaps). Thanks in advance.

The Sony is the best one, but it\'s not out in europe (and USA!?!)

yeah, stroke is right. It shouldnt be long tho, sony are gonna be releasing updated dvd drivers with it aswell.

the best remote out right now if you cant wait a few month\'s is saiteks remote, its long slim and black with ridges on the side like the PS2 :) the connector you plug intot he port has a pass thruogh port so you can still plug in your controller, but i dotnr eally use it that way. it works great and give you acess to all the menue features. i would definatly recommend this one here let me find a pic.... here is one check it out :)

Unknown...(and more to the point, rhochisociety)... While this is just one member\'s POV, as some know on this board, my personal experience has led me to believe that my having used this very Saitek remote -- that Unknown is recommending -- ruined my first PS2. I had no problems with my DVD playback previous to having used the pass-thru remote module in my PS2. Did it DEFINITELY screw up my first PS2? No, I cannot say with certainty. However, I will personally believe that it was its pass-thru design that mis-fired something in my first unit.
Anyway, you asked advice: mine is that you stay away from this unit. Furthermore, I might ask, how much do you REALLY need a remote for playing DVDs in the first place (insomuch as the game controller cord stretches - especially with an extension cord - easily across most TV distances)? Once a DVD movie is playing, how much are you really fiddling around with pause, stop, rewind/fforward, etc.? Each of us may be very different (in fact, I realize that\'s why there are soo many different remotes & controllers out their...for our differences), but for me, once I start a movie, I tend to sit & watch it uninterrupted. Again, just my 2 pennies...

Unknown, that is one cool remote!! How much will it cost? :D

Am I the only one who uses the Dualshock? I mean, all I do is press play and there we go. No more touching the remote, unless I gotta get up I just press pause and then I unpause when I continue.. Maybe I am just a practical person... Oh well.

I´m waiting to get the Sony´s one when it comes out in Europe. I´m trying to buy only Sony plugins... the console works much better with them.

This remote is great. I think it retails for 19.99. (Mine was a birthday present so Im not positive).

i\'m gonna wait for the Sony remote also. All the remotes available here (USA) for PS2 don\'t really interest me. And i don\'t want to put money down on something right now when i really don\'t need it.
OH YEAH!!! and if anybody can find a picture of the sony remote please post it.
