The ps2 sales are not to hot in Jpan at the moment.
But I\'m sure that will pick up with all the AAA games starting to come.

wow, that kind a looks "low" if that was for the
last 6 months, I think it might pickup with FF and some other nice titles. :D

wow! I am surprised it has gotten so low, even DC isn\'t looking too bad when comparing the sales.

When a new game comes out (GT3) and everyone has to pay $100+ to fix their PS2 to play this new game, one has to wonder...

Maybe someone told them about the little men that live in the PS2 that come out at night and chew on your toenails. If I knew about that before I bought my PS2 I wouldn\'t have gotten it either.
Oh wait, maybe \'cause it\'s so close to the launching of the other systems, they\'re gonna wait and see how the others look and choose one of the lot.
Or maybe it\'s because black went out of style.

black consoles have never won a console race in terms of console sales.
SMS v. NES
Genny v. SNES
Saturn and N64 v. PSX
Gameboy v. Game Gear, Lynx, Turbo Express, and game.com
of curse all the next gen systems have black shells, expect GC you can get other, fruity colors.

1.) Theres not a lot of good new software coming out for the PS2 right now. Things will most certainly change when some of the summer/fall hits start coming out.
2.) The Gameboy Advance just came out in Japan and the U.S.... Its the "thang" right now.

So i should think the gameboy advance is out selling it 2:1, i mean for godsake look at the price difference of the two machines,if it wasnt outselling ps2 then,if i was nintendo i would be worried.

Um, those are pretty good numbers if you ask me. Do you have the initial Japan launch figures as well because I recall them to be pretty even with the american launch numbers after looking at that.

All right, I found sound info on the Japanese GBA launch figures and we\'re both kind of right.
From IGN
The sales figures are in, according to Japanese publication Famitsu. And the Game Boy Advance has crossed that 1,000,000 milestone in just three short weeks.
The initial shipment of 650,000 units sold through on March 21, its first day of availability. And to date, according to Famitsu, there have been 1,132,612 sold since its launch. Nintendo\'s well on its way of selling through its projected 24 million units worldwide, a position it plans to hit in March 2002.
It may not be three times as popular, but the Japanese are clearly more into handhelds then the americans are.

I can name multiple reasons why it is selling low right now. Mainly the rumor of a price drop comming soon. No one wants to buy somthing that will cost $100 dollars less in a month or 2. Also as mentioned before, the new consoles coming soon. Why do you think nearly every game seen at E3 was anounced for fall, and that\'s when the price drop will be, they need to make the PS2 the better deal this fall.

The GBA is not that far ahead now. If you judge by weekly sales charts, the GBA is only outselling the ps2 by 10,000 units

Attention!! do not pay attention to coremagizine\'s jap. sales charts they are completely wrong. Famitsu or this other one can\'t remember have entirly different #\'s. Matter of fact the last chart I saw fom famitsu had GT3 at #1 again so........

Why is anyone bothering to compare the sales figures of a portable console and those of a home console?
This is so pointless its ridiculous.
The hugely varying price brackets do not put them in direct competition: they are not leeching each others hardware sales.
The topic of this thread is \'PS2 sales not too good\'. For a relative drought in games coupled with the fact that its summer there will be a seasonal drop. Its the norm.
The reasoning behind this thread topic? PS2 sales look poor next to GBA sales. And I say GBA sales look poor next to petrol sales. Because its just as relevant.

Hardware sales DO NOT MATTER. Its the games that we PLAY and the ENJOYMENT that we DERIVE that count.
