Title: Recent DVD\'s
Post by: psx2champ on July 01, 2001, 06:16:18 PM
I just got Dogma (Special Edition) and Unbreakable (ditto)

Both are pretty cool, (well, I haven\'t gotten to Disk 2 of Dogma, but with 100 minutes of deleted scenes....how could you go wrong?)

BTW - Isn\'t it odd how I post like every 3 months...(which is why I have like 10 posts and I registered in like September)

The Matrix and X-Men. I had to take the parental control off the PS2 to get X-Men to stop playing the extra scenes (which were really tacky). Plus, you get more options from the PS2 DVD when you take the parental control off.

The Close Encounters of the Third Kind DVD is fantastic, but there are still a few shots missing which were present in the original theatrical release.  There have been so many versions of this film released over the years, it would have been nice if they could have included everything.  I love this movie.

Are you talking about "Entrapment" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon?"  :D  Heh heh, I love those foreign title translations.  I seem to recall that the German title for the TV series "Moonlighting" was "Das Modell und der Schnueffler" or something like that.  LOL

Entrapment?? can be... in the front there isn´t english name, only the spanish one so I don´t know how is it called in english. Yes, the other is Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. In Spain cinemas the film was called "Tigre y Dragon" that in english is Tiger and Dragon. ;)

Last DVD I bought was Cast Away -- excellent movie.

I watched Unbreakable on DVD, I wasn\'t impressed with the movie. Also watched "Dude, where\'s my car?", horrible horrible movie....

Did you know that that movie is "loosely" based on a true story? So is E.T.

I\'m not joking either.

"Requiem for a Dream" was a really amazing film.  It has some of the most brilliant photography and editing I\'ve seen in the last few years.  I liked it much more than Aronofsky\'s previous film "PI."  I did find it very depressing, but that\'s OK.  That\'s what drama is for.  Everything about it was scary, not the least of which those frightening infomercials.

Traffic should have won the best picture academy award goddamn it.

Yes, that\'s called "Entrapment" in the United States.  It was an idiotic movie.

Leon the Professional (the foreign edition with the 23 minutes of deleted scenes) has to be the greatest DVD I own.  It\'s just totally cool and I give lots of respect to Jean Reno and the rest of the cast for this film.  I also give a lot of credit to Luc Besson (the fifth element) for writing and directing this film.  He is really awesome. /end shameless plug

Otherwise, I picked up Superman (classic, but the digitally remastered scenes and footage just make it so vibrant and awesome) and Unbreakable (Skip this unless you\'re renting it) and the Rock: Criterion Collection (Micheal Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer\'s best).  I love DVD\'s.

/me wishes he had a remote sentry gun like in the DVD version of Aliens.

If you want a good film to watch with your girlfriend, rent the newly released DVD version of "The Apartment" starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine.  Trust me.  TRUST ME.  :)
