Title: For all american DVD buyers
Post by: Seed_Of_Evil on July 05, 2001, 08:23:40 AM
Hi guys, I wonder if you can reply to these questions about your american DVDs:

1) What´s the normal price?

2) Are there spanish audio and subtitles in them?

3) Are there many DVDs with "all regions" capabilities?

1.) It depends on a lot of things. A brand-new (as in, not a rerelease of an old movie) can fetch anywhere from $18-$30, depending on where you buy it.

2.) For some strange reason, most of them only have French subtitles and dubbing. As if anyone in America speaks French:D

3.) No.

That is for people like me. The people who turn it on and just watch a movie without a clue what they are saying for some strange reason.

I recommend watching Batman with the french dubbin\' on. Friggin\' awesome , man.

^^^^
 I thought I was the only one. I\'m the kind of person that will watch "Bayz in the Hood" with French audio and Spanish Sub-titles just to see how they handle the dialogue. I guess I\'m weird like that. :D

Actually, the reason for this is kinda simple.
USA and Canada (maybe Mexico) are all coded region 1, which means that we all get the same movies. Since quite a number of Canadians speak french. Hence the need for french dubbing and subtitles in 9 out of every 9 1/2 movies...:D
Anyways...I actually understand some of it....the reason being that I endured 4 years of french....what a hell that was.

Hehe, you beat me to it..  Although I like the French track.  I wish I took French a little more seriously in high school. I could possibly remember some of it.

It still doesn\'t make sense to me. Yeah, some Canadians still speak French, scientists still don\'t know what causes that strange phenomenon. But Mexico is also it Region 1, and there are likely many times more Spanish-speaking Mexicans than there are French-speaking Canadians. Add that to the fact that Hispanics are the fastest growing ethnicity in America, and you\'ll see why I think it\'s strange that they use French and not Spanish.

Besides, FRANCE speaks French. Ewww.

:D

Mexico is not region 1, it\'s region 4.

Looking at that map, I bet Region 3 gets shafted pretty bad.
