Its just starting to get on my nerves as to all the BS its getting. Im just going to try to not reply to anymore Hard Drive post from this time on. So I wanted to give my final word on the matter. Im going to buy it. Why, I know some may ask. Right now I couldn\'t give many reasons as to why im buying one. But I can give you two. Twisted Metal: Black Online and Final Fantasy XI. Well, "boys and girls" , thats all the reasons I need.
-
Thats fair enough. People are entitled to there reasons though.
I personally don\'t know. If the HD is primary for online play ill give it a miss due to telco charges in the UK.
I mean come on they aren\'t going to sort out free calls. Its UK afterall.
-
Well, that I think is that not everyone will get it when it first comes out. People will eventually start buying when it becomes more common...
-
Neither game requires the HDD.
-
well im split of the whole hdd thing. ill buyt he eithernet card, but i dont know about the hdd, its so expencive.
one question, have they said that final fantasy XI will use the hdd?
if so, then i may get it...

Faster load times.... and saving your game. That\'s it.
-
oh that\'s it...i would like to know where you found this information at. do you got some "inside" information about Final Fantasy IX and the HDD??? I don\'t think so.
-
ok, so thats it, well, would it be optional? cuz im not hip to payin 100$ for a hdd on top of a 49.99 eithernet card.. (didi i spell that right?)

Why do the online games require HDD?
-
I\'m definately buying the HDD. The way I see it.. since I\'m waiting for the PS2\'s price to drop to 199, I\'ll end up paying just 50 bucks more than you all did JUST for the PS2 at launch! HA hA. Plus I won\'t have to wade through the drought of good games... there\'ll be plenty of them by the time I pick mine up!

First you (or Caspien) link me to where it says the games require the HDD. And FFIX is a PSone game...

C\'mon people! Use common sense! By FFIX, they meant FFXI, just got the two letters flipped in typing.
And yes, I too would like to see this link.
-
My post siad XI(Eleven). I dont know where anyone got IX (Nine).
And Troglodyte not all of the online games require the Hard Drive. But it appears most developers feel it decreases loadtimes amung other things and implemented it.
Caspian is now going to take a chill pill. . .
-
The HDD is also used for getting new levels online (for more online fun) and new characters...perhaps new music and whatnot. There\'s a million things you can do with it...which is why a lot of online games may require the HDD (don\'t be yellin\' at me now...that\'s just what I\'ve heard). ;)

Well its pretty easy..
You buy the Harddrive and/or Enthernet adapter. (You need the EA. but not the HDD to go online.)
Then you just plug in your Broadband modem or your 56.6 modem into the enthernet adapter..
Want to know anything else.. Just ask :)
Oh yeah, SONY has teamed up with AOL, RealPlayer, Ciscosystems and some others.. :)
-
I\'m pretty sure the 56k is built into the adapter.
Anyways, my predictions are looking more and more likely. Sony drops the PS2 price than sets up an online package that costs $300. Now what do they have over Xbox that will allow this? An existing library of top notch games, built in 56k, and a 2 year old graphic chip that will be near matching the xbox with still more potential left (oh, lets not forget brand recognition). We all here are early adapters, and thus we have to suffer the consequences of paying more to have it first.

Yeah, I have looked at a picture of the Enthernet adapter and the 56.6 modem looks like its in-built..
So then you only need to connect the phone-cord to the "back enthernet box" :)
I also think SONY will bundle the HDD and the E.N.A. with PS2 or some ISP contract..
Something like that.. (Perhaps 1st party games.. Like TMBO, SOCOM.. And then FFXI)

Fastson im soryr about that. Didn\'t mean to call you fat. Wait I really want to hear more about is the Monitor, Hard drive, mouse, and ethernet bundle they showed off. I really want that.
