HAHA, ohh, geez...i had no idea it was that big...how are you gonna fit  a console, with 4 controllers to play 4 players with your friends in the one room

but apparently the controller is comfy

Amusing, but in all fairness it\'s probably just the perspective of the picture; even the stick and buttons appear to be large in relation to this person\'s thumb.

Still, not a pretty sight. ;)

man, I wish I could laugh at this stupid crap, but then I realize that I am not easily amused and I look at the picture. Notice that the arm is being out-stretched into the cameras point of view. this makes it seem like the mans arm is sideways but it is not, making the controller look much bigger, when it is really just much closer.

hahahhaahahahahahhahahahahahahahah<------ I laugh easy.

Nice joke, but we all know the controller is not that big. And plus the big thing is getting kind of old now.

A quote from one of the authors of penny-arcade (http://penny-arcade.com) on the XBox controller:

"I always took commentary on the size of the Xbox gamepad with a grain of salt, wondering if these people weren\'t going out of their way to be contrary. I tell you now, God as my witness, I hate that controller. It is so inconceivably large that controllers from other systems whirl about it in a lazy orbit. If I pick up an Xbox (and in order to play Enclave or Munch, that\'s basically a must), I\'m going to buy a third party controller right off the bat and smash the other one with a hammer. Then I\'m going to drive over it. Then, I\'m going to drive over it again. "

eheh. gg microsft.

Penny Arcade repeats what they think hardcore gamers are thinking. They don\'t have a original idea in their head. Even if they\'re occasionally funny, don\'t take them seriously.

As for the pic, its totally been screwed with.

The controllers much more managable. This guys hand could cover most of it if he stretched his hand over it....

I still think it looks huge and unweildy. Not to mention ugly. (Not that that makes it bad.. the DC\'s pad is astetically designed like crap, but that dosen\'t make the games any less fun). Bout the only thing I really like about the Xbox controller is the Dpad.. that\'s a good idea having it all contured soft plastic. That\'ll make it much easier on the thumbs... er thumb.

When you look at those pics where they compare it do other controllers I don\'t really think it looks either big or ugly. I\'m sure it\'ll be a great controller.

Most people who have used it...thinks its comfy and thats all that matters.  Its gonna be to big for some...and mabe to small for some.  Live with it.....cause thats a fact that goes for ALL CONSOLE systems.  you can always go out and buy a third party controller that fits you just right.

I think the ps1/ps2 controller is to small.  It was originally designed for japanese hands....

I guess some of you out there are testifing that you have small hands?  well.....you\'ve heard the saying about hand size haven\'t you??? ;)    and now everyone here at the forums knows your "little" secret.  :D  lol  lol

LOL, I betting that most of the people here haven\'t even held the controller in real-life. I was at E3 second day, and I have average sized hands. The BOX controller is nice and comfy(more confortable than PS2 and GC due to it\'s size), but let me say this Japanese people living here in America might not like it, as they tend to have small hands(you know what that means-just joking), so I’m thinking that MS and third party will release smaller sized controller\'s.

See the Controller is not big, you guys have overlooked one important issue. The psx2 and GC controllers were designed for jap hands in mind, not Americans. Americans tend to have larger hands and larger ****, LOL. What pisses me off with the DC, and PS2 controller is that the dang thing is too small and tight. Obviously you guys have gotten used to it over many years of gamming, but I haven\'t.

MS  came up with the design of the controller after ten of thousands of gamers input through 100\'s of hours of game testing.  Now I bet if this was done in Japan, with Japanese people, than the controller would be alot smaller. Anyhow MS has a jap version of the XBOX controller. Also I never liked the black and white button placement on the XBOX controller, I was wondering why MS made them hard to reach. After doing some research it seems MS did this because those button are mostly for camera view, and other not so important game features.

Out of the PSX2, GC, and XBOX controller I found not one to be better than the other. They all have there up\'s and downs. IMO there is no such thing as the ultimate controller, if I had it my way each console would have 3 different controllers all designed for specific genres.

Not to worry this controller will come with its own power supply. :D

The first picture was killer funny, :D

the actual picture of the controller still looks kind of big,
and ugly, what the hell is that green circle X thing in the middle of the controller? Radar?

what are the two buttons in the top right?

and for the letters on the buttons... do those actually mean something or are they just copying super nintendo?

I belive MS called them the \'black & white\'buttons, they could be used for anything, but there primary use has something to do with the microphone/headet thing... thats what I remember, I could be wrong. BTW, they (MS) replaced the green circle with a cool black n green one. It looks pretty nice, but I cant find a pic... ill look around...

after lookign at this controller numerous times, i stilll see a mix between the DC, SNES, and GC controllers...

the think i like is that is made for my big, american hands....

i despised the dc controller because the button placement is all off.... and the cord goes out through the bottom!!! what a stupid idea! it gets in the way.

i hate the 2 inch in diameter x box logo in the middle of the controller, its soo pointless, unless they want to use it for hipnotizm............

Look into the X, look into the X..........

More pointless than every other logo on a controller? At least its not a cgeap painted on logo like every other one, its more comlex... and the black version looks cool. Damn I still cant find a pic...

i personally dont care if there is a logo on a controller or not, this "logo" just takes up space, and "cool" or not, i find it pretty useless..

The controllers not bigger just because of the logo. It would be dead space there, just like segas vmu \'window\'. Trust me, its plain black, flat space, or a logo... I prefer the logo to dead space, it looks nicer.

"It would be dead space there, just like segas vmu \'window\'." - Krimson

Yeah, but VMU "Window" does serve a purpose.. a very important one. It allows you to see what\'s on the screen of your VMU, while also obscuring it\'s view from the other players. That way, you can select plays in NFL2k1 or other sports game without everyone knowing exactly how to counter your offence, or get around your defence. It also serves purposes in games like RE:CV and allows for a quick glance at your health guage without stopping the action.

The VMU window is not dead space unless you don\'t have a VMU in it. The Xbox\'s huge logo serves NO game purpose.

If segas Memory cards didnt have screens, there would be dead space. the memory card slots iin the XB controller too, theres going to be dead space or a design. plain and simple. And the vmu was rarely actually used. You named every example that used it. It was always dead space for 99% of games...

Post by: Sublimesjg on July 11, 2001, 08:05:58 PM
well i don\'t see how it would have been dead space there w/o the logo and all - i mean the jap one is smaller so obivously it doesn\'t need to be that big and dang it that sucker is just not gonna fit in my hands - got small hands and big feet - yea i know i am weird

and also Krimson that IF about the sega controller - well if the VMU didnt have a screen then it wouldn\'t have needed to be in the Controller and could have just had a slot for a mem card and therefore they could just have closed in the dead space of the DC controller - but the VMU does have a screen so there is no arguing about that one

Probably because you were hoolding it wrong.  The shape was originally designed to be held so that your fingers, not your thumbs, would press the buttons.

I have held the controller and its not even close to what people say about it.  99 percent of the people who say things about it are like you and haven\'t even held it.

The controller is not bad.  Now the games using the controller need to be better for launch, this is true.

I have also held the Nintendo gamecube controller without a problem as well.

Now, Jumpman, being that you are two years old, you might have problems holding any controller or your bladder for that matter.

Don\'t be such a little penis.  Try to be open minded and try something for a change instead of living with Nintendo in the stoneage.

Oh going for a direct insult against moi? Don\'t even bother. It\'s hard using those insults on a 15 year-old.

Your pathetic. I pitty the ***** you supposedly married. How could a girl ever like a narrow minded imbecile such as yourself? And you have kids? God I hate to see a picture of those ugly ****s...

Being open minded is something you can never begin to comprehend Dicwiz. I used to hate Sega after I bought a Saturn(me and my brother that is), so naturally I wasn\'t to keen on the DC. But then I got interested in the games, and soon after I bought one. That\'s just an example of me being open minded, but there are none for you obviously.

Why must you annoy me? Is it because I\'m not interested in the X-Box? Blame MS and their developers for that, not me.

hey i saw the controller on tv, its in a rap video or something on much music, i cant remember what the songs called because i hate rap but i think it was by choclair or someone, but at the begining hes playing with it and its not anywhere near the size of that pic :)
