I was just sitting looking at the screen for a long time thinking about RE4. I wonder what it will look like who\'s going to be in it when I thought of a poll.
P.S. I like RE3: Nemesis. And sorry if RE:CV X isn\'t out yet. I saw an ad and it said In Stores Now!

I liked Resident Evil 2 the best. It was a lot more frightening than RE 3. The music was also a lot more spine-tingling. This is the only one where I couldn\'t play by myself at night...with the nasty sound of the lickers.

This is a playstation related thing so maybe it should go in the main forum.
I like the first one best because it was something new or almost new (Alone In the Dark) and it provided some great scares and memories.

Yeah the music is something that helps you worry what\'s going to happen next. The only scary music in RE:3 was when you go into the Police Department(from RE:2).
IMO RE:3 had a lot of jumping out *Mini-Spoilers*
The door blasting off in the Press Building.
Nemesis breaks through the window in the Police Department.
Zombies "jump" out of cars.

I think that The first one was the best and the second best was probably Code Veronica. The others weren\'t all that good. The first one was definately the scariest.

You played a lot of them? Dang!! Hardcore "Gurl Gamer"...;) How old are you anyway? Resident Evil (the first one) came out a while ago.

I love the Resident Evil Series I also like the Final fantasy series but the Tomb Raider ones bored me. I am 15 ^_^

Coolness...;) I never liked Tomb Raider either...and to make matters worse, the movie came out...:( :) You\'re pretty cool.
And Living-In-Clip, I think I never played Code Veronica...\'cause it was on Dreamcast. Resident Evil 1 seemed different than all the ones that came after it.

There all very good but I voted Resident Evil 2.
Like a lot of things sequals improve on the original, with RE2 having new dodge system and longer gamplay (although I actually completed RE 2 in a much shorter time). So although Resident Evil 1 was the first in the series Resident Evil 2 in my opinion put it to shame. Both missions were cool but esp Clarie\'s mission with that Mr X bloke
RE3 was great too but a lot of the same, visit the police station, nemesis taking a Mr X type approach and some same style puzzles. Also there wasn\'t two missions, unlike RE2 where there was enough change to make playing with the other character worthwhile.
RE CV is probably the best Resident Evil but in my opinion it was too similar to the others in the series. Prehaps this is because it was the forth in the game. I liked the 3d rendered game with moving camera angles but this wasn\'t enough to make it beat the splender that was Resident Evil 2.
Resident Evil 2 was amazing from the first intro movie right through to the end of the game.
So although all the Resident Evil\'s have been superb, Resident Evil 2 got my vote for being original, fun and mainly because everything slotted together so well.

RichGUK, you are right they are ALL good.
The first one was the original (the acting did suck mind you) but the story line was of course original. I like Code Veronica because it is a challenge. I am used to playing with cheat codes and stuff (like on the first 3) but with CV I had to play it normal. It is extremely hard for me and I get scared easily so that is really why I like the game.

You don\'t want to spoil a game by playing with cheat codes.
Actually it doesn\'t really matter as long as you enjoy the game. :)

I didn\'t know there was cheat codes for Resident Evil. Maybe playing the mercenaries in Resident Evil 3, but other than that...I\'m clueless. I only like cheat codes after I\'ve already beaten a game...;)

RE2 has to be the best, best story, most "spine-tingling." I never knew what to find up ahead and was afraid to take every corner. Gawd I love a good spook.

I never played a Resident Evil game. When I was 8 I watched the opening sequence to Director\'s Cut and when they opened that one room where that white zombie was eating that person. I jumped behind my brother\'s couch screaming "Turn it off! Turn it off". He laughed and I felt like a pansy. :(

Vivi, I join you in that experience. My friends were playing it durring that part, and I screamed (it was like 2am) and they started throwing pillows at me. so all night long after we turned the tv off and we were in the dark, my friends were making zombie noises to piss me off. ^_^ Such nice friends!

I hate when you have that feeling of something looking at you when you sleep. I always get that after I play a Resident Evil game.

Heh that\'s ok I laughed when I re-read the post ^_^. It was creepy! I still get that when I play RE games.
I also got finished playing Dino Crisis (not to get off topic), that game was pretty good but Resident Evil is still better. I personally have always been facinated/scared with/of dinosaurs. ^_^

I hope Capcom will port the first 3 on a single DVD.

Thanks for not getting p!ssed off at me Starr.:) I have to admit I was worried there for a second. But I read that and I thought it was funny. I admit seeing that for the first time was scary, because my brother came in and tapped on my door real LOUD!! Let\'s just say I was not dry in the front or the back. :shy:
And I didn\'t get a good nights sleep either cause all I could think about is that zombie standing outside my door.:yawn:

Resident Evil, that being the first one of course, is still the number one RE game created to date. The atmosphere of it just made the game unbelievably frightening and the overall tone of it just felt so fresh and original. When you return to the mansion for the second time with the Mansion Key and the hunters present all around, the game just picks up ten-fold in horror. These suckers can leap and kill you in one hit and it takes LOTS of shot to put them down and with VERY little ammo, you\'re hard-pressed to choose your battles wisely. When you enter the unexplored areas of the mansion, especially the kitchen with the incredibly eerie music playing in the background, your heart just skips a beat at every zombie moan and hunter foot thump.
I don\'t think there has been an RE game to date that matches it in intensity. RE2 was just more of a shooter in my opinion with so many different weapons and so much ammo for you to find in every nook and crannie and RE3 followed suit quite dilegently which, in my opinion, is a very bad thing. Even the ending was incredibly over the top for the series. I know blowing off a zombies head is fun, but come on, being afraid of running out of ammo has to be a key factor in the game and I never felt threatened by that in any game post the original RE and REC:V is no exception to the point either.
Here\'s hoping that RE4 returns the game to its roots with plenty of undead enemies as well as VERY limited ammo.

Yeah Resident Evil 1 was certainly the hardest of the series. It kept you on your toes with such things as lack or ammo and cooridoors with zombies which must be passed. Also it seems that less zombie bites killed you.

I voted for RE 1 DC. RE 1 was great, but the Directur\'s Cut was a little bit better.

Ryu just hit the nail on the head with his post. That\'s pretty much exactly what I wanted to say, except that I also think that all the games followin RE1 were WAY too over the top to be scarry. It looked more like a comedy of bad hollywood movies than anything freightning.. let alone bring any really new or fresh features to the game which enhance the atmosphere.
On a side note, I\'d also like to think that Resident Evil 1.5 was one of the best. It was originally RE2, but they scrapped it after 80% completion to completely rebuild the game. From the screenshots and info I had heard at the time about it... it looked to be an awesome game fully in the vein of it\'s predecessor. Just between that and the fact that the last 20% uncompleted lets in all the possiblitys, makes it what potentially could have been the best Resident Evil game to date.

Nothing you said was offensive ^_^ either that or I am used to people laughing at me. Oh well. My friends mother was playing RE Directors cut and she was scared out of her mind so later when she went to lay down my friend ran to her room and kicked her door open and started making noises I was laughing so hard. Her mother screamed so loud! (ahem although so did I :) )

RE1 was the BEST!
Got it on its first day released, me and my mate hooked up the ps2 connected the Dolby surround system to the tv, got some beers in and Drew the curtains, turned out the lights lit a couple of candles and played all through saturday night till like 8am when the wife got up.
It was the greatest gaming experince ever. the creepines of the sound effects in full surround, the ambience we created with the darkend room lit only by candles, a few drinks, the scary moments in the game (especially the first time them damned dogs burst through the windows made us fly of the chair).
This was the scariest thing out there. we completed 3/4 of the game that nightand it was challengeing and different than anything we had played before.
2 and 3 were just lame additions and couldnt compete in the story or scare factor that was in 1.
But im seriously looking forward to RE:CV

Resident Evil 2 is the best one. There are 4 ways to play it: with Leon, Claire and after playing with one character with Claire and Leon from an other starting point. The atmosphere is brilliant. Resident Evil 3 was boring and it has no good atmosphere and old locations (Police Department)

RE2.
Was much scarier than the first one, IMO.. While I think Code Veronica had the best plot/puzzles, it only scared me once maybe, or twice. RE2 had me in suspense @ every turn. Then again, I suppose once you play the first 2 REs you already know Capcom\'s tricks, which is kinda disappointing.
You pick up the key, the zombie on the floor next to you slowly gets up, *yawn* ...

But I had more fun when I played the first one, because it was new and exciting.

I guess I am the only one who likes RE:Surivor. I\'m suprised that I\'m the only one who likes it so far. I was shocked when I saw that I was the only person who voted for it. It\'s still a toss up betweem RE:2 and RE: Survivor, I wouldn\'t buy RE: Survivo because it\'s a rent-a-game.

Don\'t be surprised about you being the only RE:Survivor voter(for now). Survivor I played a demo at Best Buy and it was all that fun. First person view wasn\'t okay but not the best.

Directors Cut got my vote...the orignal is my all time fav. Res Evil, and it has a lot more to it than the orig...plus the mightily hyped up Res. Evil 2 demo...major selling point when it was released
plus, playing with chris on the advanced mode was nice and hard...and i like hard games. The other Res. Evils werent hard enough for me... Res Evil 3 is my second fav.

i must say the original resident evil was my fave, it was my first game, and really made me say WOW. the atmosphere was excellent and had a great storyline. it was hard ...not much ammo etc. the puzzles were excellent and it also has the hardest puzzle ever....those doom damn books ***** spoiler*******
where you have to turn them on there side to open them up to get the medals out of them, i could tell the books were for something but bloody hell, i found out by mistake, i was running all over the place

Its either between RE1 or RE2. RE1 was the original. Had that atmosphere and somewhat more intense then RE2 (if you play hard). However, the silly dialog and voice acting, while funny, kinda took away from the game. RE2, first game I played in the series, scary at first with all the surprises (like the arms busting through the window). Like the charecters more in 2. But, there could\'ve done, maybe a little more. But I still like it.
RE3, good game, but too short.
RE: Survivor. Haven\'t played it. Don\'t plan to either. While I can\'t say myself if its a bad game or not, from reviews and other peoples accounts, RE: Survivor, the reason why no one really likes it is...
A: Formerly a guncon game, then for the US, a FPS in a way that was way too easy.
B: Barely any story.
C: felt like a rush game. Not up to the RE standard.
RE: Code Veronica and Code Veronica X. Haven\'t played it yet. Hope to play RE: Code Veronica X when it comes out. Hope I also have money by then too.

Ryu, you sure know what to say when it comes to things like this. While I do think that RE: CV is the best produced and just a fantastic game, RE 1 owns as the best in the series because of its true horror and just plain freakiness. For some reason, I really like not having a lot of ammo in that game. It is just so much more fun and scary!

I liked 1 the best, because you didn\'t know what to expect. After that you could kind of tell what was going to happen, but then CV came out and it changed some things, CV had a very good story line, and great weapong systems, I love targeting two enemys.
Is this the new N64cc forums, I come back every couple days, and they had an Eereos graphic and then I come here. did they merge the two?
