Title: **PS2 software that has bugs**
Post by: MrWhiteUK on July 14, 2001, 02:19:38 AM
Post the name of the game and what bugs you have noticed, if it crashes etc. Or just any games that have crashed/locked up, any skipping music or just small faults.

Useful to see what names crop up several times.

Console games used to be relatively bug free but that is not strictly the case anymore.

I\'ll start:

Crazy Taxi

Skipping music
\'Disc Read Error\' when mirror cheat on org track is used
Crashed once
Dissapearing scenery

All are pretty rare, I have had 3 copies now and ALL had EXACTLY the same bugs.

I did have a faulty copy of DOA2, would have trouble reading in new background, screen would fade to white and drive would skip back and forth trying to read the disc. Replacement works fine.

Anyone else?

Well my copy of Tokyo Xtreme Racer locked up. Im hoping this isn\'t a reoccuring problem, meaning that the game is playable. It could be any number of reasons.

Rayman Revolution hangs by the Ice Boss, at the exact same location..
Plus you can warp through diffrent doors sometimes. :)

Its damn fun anyways.. (RR that is, not the bugs.)

ok the disappearing scenery was because it was a port from the dreamcast, and the developers had to make "popup" and the people who ported it over could not change the game at all, so it stayed the same...

Yeah it sucked that, them not letting them improve the game at all.

Smuggler\'s Run: No music and less sound effects: In the first production of SR in Germany there are these bugs.

I\'m not trying to sound like a moaning old b%^#rd  but..

Are dreamcast games this buggy? Do they freeze? Do they screw up?  (i don\'t own one, just asking ;) )

Is it the ps2 sucking or is it just developers screwing up?

I sure hope it\'s the second one!!

I didn\'t mean the popup, that\'s not really a bug, I meant sometimes the whole ground dissapears, people with the game also claim the whole level dissapears sometimes! never happened to me though.

Whoa nearly forgot about Midnight Club Street Racing. I can\'t remember all the bugs in that game but there was a few, none of which stopped you completing the game. It seems to be more bad programming. I remember one where you couldn\'t use the rear view if you had accelerated, you had to press brake first, even if it was just for a second.

CRAZY TAXI!

And yes, TXR0 had locked up once.... Hasn\'t happened since then, which I am totally grateful for. :D

That\'s funny, I justy went and tried everything you said and I didn\'t have any problem!  I don\'t remeber any bugs in Midnight Club at all!

Might be something to do with the PAL version. Can\'t remember the other bugs. I sold it anyway and I doubt that its anything to do with my PS2 being broke. Probably either I explained it funny or NTSC is different to PAL.

Let us not forget falling endlessly below the "Pipe Dream" course in SSX. Happened to me about 3 times; I managed to get underneath the track while pulling off a trick, everything was black and  I could see the course above me getting smaller and smaller. My trick points were in the hundreds of thousands, but since I had to press the select button, the trick value was became void. I remember others having a similar experience with SSX.

Midnight Club Street Racing, one bug that ticked me off.  After finishing the boss in NY the option to go to London was not there.....

Did you ever figure out why the game froze?  Is there any way to "warm it up?"

Ready to Rumble
Sonic Adventure
Blue Stnger
NFL 2k
I had to take them all back because they were almost none playable.

Didn\'t Acclaim do the port of Crazy Taxi?

Dynasty Warriors 2:  Unfortunately, the game freezes a lot more than what it should.  Sometimes there\'s some buggy audio, as well.  There\'s also a few minor graphical glitches that I came across.  It\'s obvious that Koei didn\'t spend a lot of time polishing the game up before release.

Armored Core 2:  I fell through the ground during a deathmatch once.  Luckily, it\'s the only glitch that I ever experienced with the game.

Zolar, yes they did.

Everytime u find a bug don\'t forget to post it here, that way people know if it\'s just they\'re copy.

When I e-mailed Acclaim they said I am the only one with the problem, that\'s funny I\'ve seen a dozen others.

GT3:

Popping Sound

Also my first copy of GT3, would not get out of the loading screen (black screen little white square flashing) once.

Ejected then closed tray, carried on as normal. My first copy of DOA2 also did the same thing, but second copy didn\'t.

Someone else on another forum had the same prob once, anyone else?

My PS2 has been changed and doesn\'t do it now.

I thought that I would run through ICO again and see how quickly I could finish it, but two times now I have experienced a glitch that requires me to reset the game. I\'m at the first reflection dish and the last two attempts have resulted in a black screen when entering another room. They were different rooms on both occaisions, and the first time my DS2 was rumbling uncontrollably. Anyone have a similar experience with this game?

Rumbe Racing wouldnt load up from the start, but i found a solution! if i held the start button from when i turned the ps2 on the game loaded up. it was busted big time though, as it skipped the cinematics aswell. took it back.
this also happend with a demo disc from sony, as the IIS football game wouldnt load-so i tried the holding start button and it loaded. strange?
