Title: Crash 4... very good news : )
Post by: Halberto on July 15, 2001, 12:48:32 PM: Most sections of the game play just like any Crash title you\'ve seen before. He runs around, avoids bad guys, spins into enemies, bashes through objects, and collects apples like a crazed Johnny Appleseed. In short, Crash does his standard thing. The bonus levels, like in the past three platform games, are there, too, with TNT, Nitro, and tons of apples, and extra lives to pick up.

There are several other new things that are worth mentioning. One of the neat things that we saw is a body ball, found in the snowy level in the E3 demo. Here, Crash rolls around an environment avoiding steam and hot ash, as well as huge holes in the ground, following in the same fashion that Marble Madness originated many years ago, as he manages to pick up apples and avoid uncertain death. The gleaming ball is comprises metal structures, but is also transparent, so you can see Crash in their moving around, as he goes through several animations as he\'s working the ball around. The ball also leaves a nice swath of crushed snow behind him, that\'s quite a nice looking effect.

In all, Crash isn\'t going to blow anybody away with stunning new, revolutionary gameplay. But what it will do is wow you with a fast framerate, crisp graphics, and the same reliably good platform goodness you have known for years. I wouldn\'t be embarrassed to own it, and I\'m certainly looking forward to it.

Post by: Samwise on July 15, 2001, 11:47:30 PM: Damn, I almost crapped my pants... I was listening to music (rather loud) through headphones, and decided to check out that IGN preview. I scroll down the page to see the pics and suddenly the screen starts shaking and a dark, deep voice says/screams "KILL \'EM ALL" or something like that... LOL! I almost jumped out my chair. I then tried to investigate the source (perhaps I was going insane) - I think I narrowed it down to a Planat of The Apes ad... heh, that was some scary $hit. :laughing:

Post by: GAMES on July 16, 2001, 10:16:10 AM: I noticed the trail of Crash stayed for about 6 sec until slowing disapearing.It\'s very cool. I have all the Crash games so you I\' going to have to get this one to.Have any of you seen the GBA version of Crash it looks great.

ALso Insomniacs PS2 platformer is being held under wraps until SOny decides to show it off. But word on that game is its right up their with J+D
