I don\'t agree with some of the ways this forum is run. Like why don\'t we get to choose avatars after we reach a certain number of posts? And why would our star count freeze after we do get a pic(I assume this isn\'t the mods fault)? Mostly I think sending our pic in to the moderators to be given to us is annoying and suggests a power trip being displayed here. I know I\'m just a newbie to this particular forum, but I\'m a respected member of the MSXBox boards...I justed needed to let you mods know what I think of this forum so far. I still havn\'t decided if I will frequent here or not...

You do get to choose avatars a@ 500.
You should go to the main forum and read the sticky post by SoulGrind.

Yes, I know you get to choose your avatar(I think my original post was a bit unclear) but what I mean is it sucks you have to send the pic to a mod to get it for your av. Why don\'t they just allow you to do it yourself? Why I say this is because I\'ve been posting on the (vBulletin powered) MSXBox forums for a while now and I like they way the do it much better. After you reach a certain post number, the option to choose or upload your own avatar becomes available on your options page. So I know they could do the same thing here if they wanted, but they choose to have you send them the pic first. Do they not trust us enough to handle uploading and changing our avatars as we please?

yes yes, but i like having the power of assigning pics to people at 500 posts when they request one
allows me to feel that im "helping" others in some strange way

that should give you a clue how Clyde likes things to be run around here

Heh - I have no complaints about the current system - but I DO have to wash my tongue every once in a while.
;)

Well, at least you get 100x100 avatars here.
And I don\'t really see the problem. You get a picture at 500 if you haven\'t been spamming - you see, you have to earn it here. So it has to go through the admins.

I don\'t mind the system at all. I mean, an avatar should not be the main reason you post anyway (until you hit like 490:))
So just sit on your hands and post stuff. I\'d tell you "If you don\'t like it, leave", but MSXBox has so few posters with half a brain cell, so we like to keep the good ones:p

Well I wouldn\'t blame the people over there for the questionable content of some of the posts....I mean how much can you say about a system that is still 3 1/2 months away from release.
And for the "at least you can have 100x100 avatars here" comment, well you can beat the system over there by changing the pic file to .art before uploading. My current av is about 135x120. The mods over there don\'t care if you give yourself a bigger pic as long as you don\'t make it so big that it messes up the format of the forum(push the left column out too far).
Anyway, It\'s sounding like ragging on this forum but I\'m really not. I\'ll hang around and see if I like it here, things look good so far. :)

Here\'s a question for ya, why are the times so off? It\'s 12:02PM Pacific time where I am, but these boards say it\'s 5AM. And yes, I changed the time to Pacific in the options. So what\'s the deal?

I don\'t know, but you can correct the offset yourself. Just add or subtract the missing number of hours in your profile.
