Title: What\'s the best game that you\'ve ever rented?
Post by: Jumpman on July 16, 2001, 08:04:03 AM
HAHA! Wern\'t expecting this were you, imbeciles!

Anyways, the point of this thread is to let out our positive feelings for a game which we don\'t own, but had a blast while renting. Just something different from the everyday topic. I like reading about everyone\'s favorite game and this is pretty similar.

My favorite game that I\'ve rented has to be Banjo-Kazooie for the N64. God that game owned. It was hype up as a potential Mario 64 killer, and it was a Mario64 killer IMO. The levels were monstrously large, the puzzles were amazingly fun, and the gameplay was spectacularly addictive. It\'s arguably the best 3D platform game eva. I think Mario 64 is barely better than it, and that\'s quite a feet to achieve because Mario64 is still regarded as one of the best games of all time by most reviewers. I rented that game 3 times to completely beat it, played it almost every second I had it, and it was well worth it. If you own a N64 and haven\'t played it yet, then go out and rent it right now. It\'s magnificent.

My runner up is Grandia 2 for the Dreamcast. After my first battle, I got up and said, "FINALLY AND RPG WITH A GOOD BATTLE SYSTEM!". Final Fantasy\'s battle system can\'t hold a candle to it. It\'s simply the best battle system ever. To have played it and to say it wasn\'t would be a bald face lie.

Anyways, the story was great, the battles were actually fun, it had great character development, awesome graphics(poor animation though), Millenia owned, and NO RANDOM BATTLES. If you own a DC and have like the RPG genre, then go play this game right away. It\'s the best RPG I\'ve played since Super Mario RPG way back in 96.(that\'s right, I loved that game!) It\'s right up there with BK as the best game I\'ve ever rented.

Now let\'s hear your\'s. :)

Parrapa the Rapper.  I had a blast playing this game!  For the three days I rented it I beat it on every level and had memorized all the songs!

I don\'t think I\'ll ever play it again though.  It\'s a one-time-only kind of game.  First time is the best, you know?

EarthBound for the SNES, god that game was awesome.
Next to FFVII and Super Mario RPG, i think that its the greatest rpg ever, i would have bought it but i was young at the time and couldnt afford many games.  if u havent played it and u still have your SNES go find yourself a copy of this game!!

Its a very good game. random battles? yes and no... well u can see a little spec coming towards u before the battle starts but its virtually impossible to avoid it, and when u beat a certain section of the game some of the weaker monsters will run away from u instead of attacking u but u can still corner them and attack them. the battle system is very good, its like most rpg\'s: attack defence magic(i think) and  there are a lot of cool weapons and items...... and i mean alot, the instruction manual is as thick as a players guide and it has a description of everything the game.     theres so many other cool features in the game like u have a cell phone and u can call the pizza guy if u are low on hp and u can buy a bike and u have a bank account and whenever u want money u can go to the bank, and everytime u call your dad from a new area he deposits money in the account.

Its just a very awesome game! go try it out.

Final Fantasy Tactics.

I\'m waiting with great anticipation for the re-release.  I don\'t want to make the same mistake again by passing up one of the greatest games ever created.

HA! You mean that weird looking kid with the baseball bat? He was my best player! I know who your talking about now.

I want to try this game. But I doubt I can find it anywhere though. :(

EDIT- I also had a blast renting Soul CaliBA. It\'s probably my favorite fighting game of all time.

Jet Grind Radio was also a great rent, but I never got to finish the game. :(

I\'m hoping either today or tomorrow I can rent Sonic Adventure 2. That game looks awesome. :)

My answer is, of course, Xenogears. The first time I played it, I rented it FIVE, yes FIVE times straight! And I only got halfway through, if even!

I\'ve played Grandia 2. And I can honestly say Star Ocean 2\'s Battle system walked all over Grandia\'s. IT WAS FULL REALTIME, you have to move around and try to strike from behind and the like. Nothing compares to SO2\'s.

Actually.. I\'ll have to go with Mega Man 5 on the NES. Though I did finally end up buying it, I rented it at least 8 times beforehand. Either that or Metal Gear Solid, which I rented but never ended up buying.

LOL, yes I remember that game. I played it on my comp with an emulator before. :D But then I deleted it because trying to play a game with a keyboard blows.

HA! You mean that Enix RPG that came out in 99 or 2000? I remember some of that game(the main character\'s name was Reno or Claude right?), and it didn\'t really impress me too much. I think Grandia 2\'s smokes it. Besides, it\'s impossible to comapre realtime to turn-based(Grandia 2 wasn\'t exactly completely turn bassed though).

Yeah. I get to try out Sonic Adventure 2 today. :)

game that you really like but don\'t own it?...

hmm...I guess that will have to be thousand arms...

nothin\' beats the feeling of flirtin\' with girls in a video game.  hehe, I also like how they do the graphic on the fightin\' mode\'s really good too (well, during that time)
