I just watched episode 1; the phantom menace. and i got one question...why does yoda and the others say that Anakin is too old to start training to be a jedi, but they have no problems with luke getting trained even though hes much older????
that jar jar bloke is so annoying, it seems he is only in there for some comedy, but hes not funny

In the Novels, In the Old Republic, children of about 3 or 4 were taken from their homes to train as a Jedi. Maybe younger. In A New Hope, Luke was the last hope (hence the name of the first SW movie), for the Jedi Knights and the galaxy as well. Yoda thought he was too old, but he knew he had to do it. Anakin was two old, but not mature enough. Luke was much older but mature so look was the better choice to train. Plus Anakin had to worry about his mother all the time, and someone killing Padme, but you\'ll see that in Episode II. Too Bad Luke never went dark. Then the Yuzhan Vong wouldn\'t enter the galaxy 25 years later and try and kill everyone.

I seem to remeber someone saying something in the 1st (4th) movie like "You\'re [Luke] too old, but we can\'t let that stop us." So they said the same thing about Luke, but because nobody was breathing down whats-his-name\'s neck, he got away with it.

Tro, that was accaully Biggs before the Death Star Battle in ANH:
Luke: Hey Biggs, I told ya I\'d make it someday.
Biggs: It\'al be like old times, Luke, they\'ll never stop us!

Thanks "Jed," I knew it was in there somewhere. And something tells me that you might know something about it. ;), ;)

I have the entire script for all of the classic movies by heart.:D Yes, I love the SW movies, and I loe Rogue Leader.

I dont know what kinda crack George Lucas was smoking when he rewrote the script to part 1, but it was some prtty serious stuff.
I mean come on, Darth Vader MADE 3-cpo.
That makes NO sense. And they both knew Obi wan before they met him in the first movie.
THEY BOTH STATED THEY DIDNT KNOW HIM IN THE FORTH!

Oh boy, it\'s been a while since I\'ve seen the films. Can somebody confirm?

JediMaster, by any chance do you visit TheForce.net\'s forums? I did.
I believe the reason was that when Anakin was chosen to be trained, the old republic rules still existed. Jedis were numerous in numbers and great in health and skill. But when Luke, the last hope, was about to be trained, those rules were already destroyed - and as he was the final hope and the only choice, Yoda had to do it... \'tho he had doubts about him.

Yes but if Anikan wouldn\'t have been the chosen one then he would never been trained. And Luke, like I said was the last hope for the galaxy. :nerd:

yeah i get it, but luke wasnt the last hope there is his sis aswell
