NaCl+H2O , NaCl+H20
----------------------------
C C C C C C C
Can you guess it? It\'s from a website by a Chemistry professor at UGA. I couldn\'t figure it out! I\'ll give the answer in a little while.
UPDATE: Aaron solved this one! One gold star: (https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hut.fi%2FMisc%2FImages%2Fbullet%2Fstar.gif&hash=f07ad4ef645c45c3f52cc51df31b57f1c7fa86ad)
Here\'s the next puzzle:
A doctor has a brother who is an attorney in Alabama, but the attorney in Alabama does not have a brother who is a doctor.
How can this be?
UPDATE: JediMaster got this one! One Gold Star: (https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hut.fi%2FMisc%2FImages%2Fbullet%2Fstar.gif&hash=f07ad4ef645c45c3f52cc51df31b57f1c7fa86ad)
Here\'s the last one for today:
It is in the rock, but not in the stone;
It is in the marrow, but not in the bone;
It is in the bolster, but not in the bed;
It is not in the living, nor yet in the dead.
What is it?
UPDATE: Dang, JediMaster again! Another Gold Star:(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hut.fi%2FMisc%2FImages%2Fbullet%2Fstar.gif&hash=f07ad4ef645c45c3f52cc51df31b57f1c7fa86ad)
So after day one:

I think I\'m going to change the format tomorrow to the point that people have to PM their answer. So I\'ll see you @ 1:00 AM EST (my post shows 5:06 PM EST). You\'ll have 24 hours to PM me the answer to the next question. I think I\'ll throw in some PS2 trivia too. It\'ll be a new thread.

The answers George Washington, right? :p I suck at this stuff....
-
Well, we\'ve got Sodium Chloride (Table Salt) and Water. That would give us salt water but that\'s obviously not the answer. I doubt the real answer has anything to do with chemistry. I\'ll keep thinking about it though...

You are so close! Think of another name for salt water. The bar in these puzzle\'s usually translates to "over." I\'ll see if you can get it from there. But you\'ve done all the Chemistry work you need to! (Somebody has some brains in here.;))

i used to do this stuff all the time, can sort of remeber it.....i may look it up, i cant remember what the commor does. but it will just be salty water..
as the man said
Na= sodium
Cl=clouride
H= hydrogen
O=oxygen so wouldnt it just be NaClH2O???!!!! instead of NaCl + H20 :D
wait i remember i think wold it be
2NaClH2O or something like that??!!

That\'s some great chemistry, but Aaron was much, much closer.

Carbonated Salt Water?
I haven\'t taken chemistry since the 9th grade so I have no idea what C stands for.
Is the answer Soda(Pop, for my midwesterners)?
Is there salt water in soda? I know there is salt and water........???? Damn I\'m confusing myself.

Sorry for the confusion, but the "C" does not stand for carbon, and the bar stands for "over."
-
I just noticed the C\'s that were under that line. I thought they were something else earier. Hmmmm another word for salt water is saline solution.
Sailne + Seven Seas= Sailing over the seven seas! :)
Or "Sailing, Sailing over the seven seas."

saline, saline "over" (the) 7 C\'s
Sailing, sailing over the seven seas!
Awesome! That\'s a lot quicker that it took me! (But then again, I didn\'t get any hints! ;))
Congratulations! Sorry, but I don\'t have any prizes! I\'ll see if I can find some more!

Yes that is what it is. Us smart Aarons can\'t be fooled;)
Edit: I\'m too slow hitting the post button. Also to point out my first name is also Aaron.

The doctor is a she.
Added: Or also the doctor could be one of the robotic surgeons that someplaces have and the attorney could be a droid and;) Ahh too much Sci-fi Channel:D

That\'s right! The doctor is his sister. I\'ll find a more challenging one next. . .

Only if Aaron agrees!
Here we go, last one of the day:
It is in the rock, but not in the stone;
It is in the marrow, but not in the bone;
It is in the bolster, but not in the bed;
It is not in the living, nor yet in the dead.

Curses, see what happens when I go out to dinner? I have to work a 16 hour day tomorow (But I get to Screen Jurassic Park) so I won\'t be around for the puzzle. Unless it\'s too hard for everyone and it is still unsolved. :) This was fun, hope to see some good questions.
-
I\'ve made plans for a PM style system. I\'ll have the questions up in a new thread in four hours. 2 brain teaser, and a Playstation-related question. Everyone will have 24 hours to send in answers.
-
wow great idea Troglodyte, i wouldnt have gotten the first one but i would have gotten the other 2..... too bad i wasnt around.
Im looking forward to the next ones:)
sooooooooo, next time are u going to give everyone a chance to answer instead of just the first person to get it wins??? that would be cool.

Try this: A farmer left seventeen horses to be divided among his three soms in the following proportions: To the eldest, one-half; to the second, one-third; and to the youngest, one-ninth. Is this possible? If so, how should they be divided? There are two different solutions.
-
9 + 6 + 2 = 17
I just figured out the fractions, rounded up, and there you go.
Actually, I rounded down, 8 + 5 + 1 = 14. That\'s 3 more horses, divide one to each.

The other solution (uses a "double meaning" of words):
One half = two and one over = 3
One third = three and one over = 4
One ninth = nine and one over = 10
Total: 17

8 1/2, 5 2/3, 1 8/9(since Tro took the easyway ;)
Now you have about half of a horse left. Now take that hourse and cut the the half into three more peices to give .17 to each one. Now you take the whole horses and keep them, and sell the rest off for beef:D
