I\'ve read about the serial numbers going all the way up to 70004 on US PS2\'s. I just got mine three days ago and have a 70001. Just wondering if anyone with a newer model has noticed any differences? What version of the software do you have? My 70001 has the following:
Browser: 1.20
CD Player: 1.20
PlayStation Driver: 1.10
DVD Player: 1.30U
Also, does anyone know if all of this software is ROM, or is stored in FLASH ROM or something similar, allowing for future updates?
Thanks

Console: SCPH-30001
Browser: 1.10
CD Player: 1.10
PlayStation Driver: 1.10
DVD Player: 1.10U

SPCH-30001 (launch Day)
I was the last person on the first list.......when I called the night before hey said I might not get it....so I went to get the games and controller...and my memory card (which they had none of at launch (Bastards)), when i got there I gave them my name and low and behold I was the last person on the list!
Browser - 1.20
CD player- 1.20
PS Driver - 1.10
DVD Player -1.20U
Maybe I some how got an upgrade on one of my disks I bought or rented...cant remeber what it was when i got it......I think this is what It was. I have only had one small probalem...I think it slightly burned Timesplitters............but nothing since (Knocking on wood)

Sorry, I\'m retarded. I have the 30001 too, not some super advanced 70001. Anyway...

HEY HEY HEY now!
What the heck is going on here? I got mine shortly after launch, and all of my specs are lower!!!!!
Is there a way to increase them? (Like KillaX suggested.)
If so, how?
If anything has been improved on I want it! (Although I haven\'t had any problems yet *knock on wood*.)

I heard in the future the games will auto-upgrade your drivers...might be wrong.........I think those were the numbers I had out of box come to think of it. MAybe Dark Cloud upgraded it.........since it is a sony game.......you never know

Nope, not Dark Cloud. . . I have that.
I wonder what it can be? I\'m gonna go do a little digging.
UPDATE: Boy am I tiered! I hardly found any info.!
But here:
"Driver Issues
In an attempt to prevent the viewing of foreign DVDs in the Playstation 2, Sony has released an updated DVD driver, version 1.01. It looks like this new driver may block the use of the tricks below, so people with the newer 1.01 driver will have to "downgrade" to the older version before attempting to view foreign DVDs. "
So basically the updates don\'t speed up the system or anything, just prevent hackers. But I still want to upgrade mine!
