ok I was supposed to buy a 1984 berlinetta a few weeks ago but I decided to wait a bit longer and see what else I could find, it was the best decision i made because last friday i found a car that\'s 20x better, iIfound a 1987 V6 2.8 liter Camaro with a white ext. and a red int. it\'s in perfect condition, body has 0 dents, and doesnt need any repairing exept the supporters that hold up the hatchback need replacing & the AC, thats about it so now I want to make my first car look awesome :) I am asking all those car junkies what I can do to soup up, beef up my car with, here is what i am already going to do:
1.I am willing to spend about 150 on a car stereo because i dont really care for the flashy ones, I already have one in mind, it\'s an Aiwa and here is a pic of it.
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aiwa.com%2FCatalog00%2Fimages%2F00%2FCDCX217_L.jpg&hash=84445fb3235d14cef5bdc44425abc5d2c29fffc1)
it only cost 139.00 with free installation at my local circuit city. it looks a lot cooler in person and you can change the lcd color from red to blue but since i have a red int. i will match perfectly.
as for speakers I need advice on some 4x6 and 6x9 that are good quality but aren\'t worth 200 bucks each :)
as for beefing up my car I am planning on getting a Magna flow exaust, K&N air filter and a cold air intake wich will give me about 50 more HP for my car :)
later in time I am going to add some ground effects etc. so what can you guys recommend and prefer, I am willing to hear everyone out, I want my car to kick ass, I know since it\'s a V6 it not gonna be as fast as a Z28 but it will have better gas mileage and cost less on my insurance wich is alreayd going to cost me about 220 bucks a month! but with my discount i apply for it will be about 120

the first mod you will need to do to make it cool, unknown, is get rid of it!
no matter how hard you try, you won\'t make a mid-80\'s camaro look nice, it will always look white trash, especially a white one.
My advice, sell it and save money to get my dream car, a 68 Camaro. With a 454 or 502 Big Block. The rumble alone will make every car for miles leak fuel.

my Grandma had a 1969 Camaro but i didn\'t like it ti looks small and was cramped up inside, i love the 80\'s camaro\'s because they are big, beefy, and roomy inside :) hehe plus im getting this car for a steal, it in such good conditiona nd it has rims, only for 2,200 bucks i looke din the KBB and it\'s worth about 3,700 as the lowest asking price, the guy told me he wouldn\'t even be sellign it if he wasn\'t moving, he is selling it becaus he is moving to another state byt he end of the month and need ot get rid of it before the deadline
if it wasn\'t for my girfriend i wouldnt be gettign this car because she wrote downt he no. for me, i owe it all to her :)
oh and i lov ethe way the 80\'s camaro\'s look

remember, its all opinion.
and that car is a great deal. i would buy that car in a flash. i WOULD NOT get undercarrage neon lights. they just make you look stupid. you mak want to black out your headlights or just make the taillights all clear white..
your beffing idea is a good choice. a good intake would be nice and a nice big throaty exhaust pipe would kick.
best buy sells great speakers for under 100$ (i think they are the size you are talking about.)
the steryo system looks unbelieveable. get it.
and if you have money, later, well change the paintjob, or get the z28 orange racing stripes down the middle of it...
ill be watching this thread to add my info unknown..
p.s- you gettin better at Rogue spear?
-
man, whatever you do dont get one of those decals that have calvin taking a leak on a ford symbol. I HATE THOSE THINGS!
-
...i cant see a 80\'s camaro with a ground effects kit...

oh just so everyoen knows, i think you misunderstood when i said ground effects, i meant the fiber glass bottom\'s that go on the sides of the car, like the Camaro Z28 or RS, they have nice ones, but my is all bland.. i was gonna had those bottom\'s, thats why i called them ground effect, i am also planning on blacking out the back lights :), clear just wouldn\'t look good on a Camaro, i am also gonna add flood light\'s to the front also, it\'ll make it look more stocky.
oh and im stoped playing RS, i uninstalled everyon PC game i had :)
and just so everyoen knows i am going to take a pic f my car the second i get it and wash it, ill post them here :)

About the car itself: I would recommend getting one as recent as possible. I\'m too young to drive, but common sense says that newer is better.

If you add the color yellow anywhere on your car you get about 15hp for it...
If its a ricer you can get all the way up to 50hp depending on where you put the color yellow..

If you want better quality stereo and plan on powering your speakers from the in-dash receiver, get a Pioneer CD receiver with the MOSFET 50 chip inside. I did comparisons between these models and more expensive decks from other brand names on the same speakers. The Pioneers sounded better in each case.
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fpix.crutchfield.com%2Fproducts%2F2000%2F130%2Fh130DEH2300dmt.jpeg&hash=4ed0d18ffd2066ad6049d5c6d6a6f9a29ae5c746)
There are better models with the M50 chip, but this one can be found for around $150. I have a Pio DEH-2000 and am glad I made the choice to buy it over the other more flashier/brighter ones with their lower quality amps.
As for speakers, I recommend Infinity (Kappa or Reference) or Polk Audios for the price range you\'re looking for. Always shoot for 3-way speakers when getting 6x9\'s. This means there are 3 components to the speaker: the woofer/mid-range, the tweeter, and the super-tweeter. They\'re better quality and have nicer imaging over standard 2-way\'s.
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fpix.crutchfield.com%2Fproducts%2F2001%2F108%2Fl1086933i.jpeg&hash=cb8103c4dc2b02c1deea9a0953f66d263402be1e)
And do you plan to install yourself or let a company do it for you? If you buy your stuff from Crutchfield (http://www.crutchfield.com) they\'ll send you any and all adapters you need for free, this includes the wiring harness & detailed illustrated insturctions on installation. Plus you get lifetime support over the phone, save a good chunk of money, and learn some valuable lessons about your car.
If you must get it done for you, DO NOT get it done at Best Buy (http://bestbuysux.org). They might have some deals going on for installation but the people they have working there are complete morons. The installers over at Circuit City always knew their stuff and weren\'t high-school drop-outs that could barely speak English. Oh and CC\'s installers are usually IASCAA certifed and take trips to various cities to attend seminars on how to install the latest gear...
edit- Sub was right, those Pioneer speakers cost $100 for the pair. If CC is charging you for each one then you\'re getting ripped off. sweet man thanks a grip for the info, i didn\'t know that it was 100 for both because on the box cover\'s for speakers they only show a pic of one speaker, not a pair.
i am also planning on buying my stuff at Circuit city and also plan on having my friend install every single thing in my Car, he installed systems in his expedition, his ford contour and here is it, his 89 V8 Camaro RS, in other words he knows exactly how and what to do to install a radio and speakers in ym system :)
i just found out that my Camaro has Tuned Port Fuel Injectors wich use an MAF "mass air flow" system wich explains why my car sounds mean and accelerates fast for a V6 :), it also means that my car required 2 square shaped air filters instead of just 1 round 1, since im buying K&N air filters they are going to cost me 28.00 bucks each but they are totally worth it.
for those of you who dont kno wwhat a K&N air filter is, its the best airfilter out on the market seeing ha show it will be the only airfilter you will ever use for the rest of your cars life because it ha sa 1,000,000 mile warranty, yep this filter last your cars entier life as long as you clean it after every 3,000 miles or somehting, it allows more air in to theengien t make it pump faster giving more horse power :)
god i love my car

no you wouldn\'t because it\'s a one million mile warranty, not a one hundred thousand mile warranty

then to make the car sweeter than it already is you pour sugar in the gas tank :)
