Title: My Dog has died
Post by: ddaryl on July 18, 2001, 06:44:43 PM
Well let me tell you how incredibly shocked we we\'re to have this happen

My dog was 6 1/2 year old. She was or appeared to be extremely healthy until Sunday night where she started to look like she caught a bug.

On Monday she was still mopin around and laying in corners, When I asked her ""whats the matter girl""  Her eye would look up and her tag would wag and thump the ground

Like always she just loved to be near us and her us talk to her.

On Tuesday we got a Vet appointment, she was just as un energetic as she was the day before. The vet suspected internal bleedin (GOD NO !!!!!) and we  had to choices surgery or put her down.

I friggin love my dog more then majority of humans out there, she was every bit a part of my family as any of my family so I opted for Surgery which would have been $1200.00 but a small price to pay for 6 - 10 years more of "Whupper Love" (Whupper was my dogs nickname, her real name was Cala)

The Doctor told us he suspected a tumor had starting bleeding and her blood count was so low she would have died in a day.

The Doctor also said he lets us know if he could if it was Benign or Malignant tumor

20 minutes later we get a call, and it can\'t be good if in 20 minutes ya get a call when surgery is being performed.

The cancer had infested her insides and spread to the liver.

We had no choice,

Last week we had a beautiful healthy dog or so we thought and all of sudden she\'s cancer sick and dying. (I\'m choking back tears as I type)

SHE WAS AN AWESOME CREATURE

My best friend always at the door whenever I or we came home, always full of love and fun.

I want to throw up because she was too good, and too young to die the so soon. I want my dog back !!!!!!

I\'ll miss her, but I will move on to a new puppy. We are going to check out Golden Retriever puppies on Saturday. The "Whupper" would have wanted it this way, and we need a new warm loving heart to fill up our lives. The kind only a dog can fulfill.

I do miss her and tonight will be my 1st night coming home from work with no dog thier for the obligatory 5 minute I\'m glad to see you too scratch.

It will be very emotional and tough

I had a cat that i loved more than anything in the world. I had to have him put to sleep when he was very young because of cancer.

I feel ya man. Hang in there. Theres nothing like losing a pet you love.

DDaryl I feel you on this one. My dog is also 6 yrs old. Hese my patna, I remember doing a lot of stuff with him when I was little. He is like a brother to me. My dog also had a similar problem but we took care of it in time. He had a little wart on his left arm i noticed it when I played with him outside. I told my mom and she set an appointment and we took him in 1 week later. He had a little tumor on his had that could have developed into cancer. When I found out he had a tumor my heart was beaten fast, having someone close to you and then all of a sudden you start knowing that they are going to die depresses you. Surgery costed $300.00 and I went to pick him up when they finished, he looked faded but was still alive. I dont want my dog to die, but Life goes on, just think about how happy your dog was that you gave him a home.

I feel your pain man. I don\'t really like dogs, but I was raised with a german shepard named "Jezzebel". We was raised together, and when she had puppies she would come and make me sit with her durin\' birth. She protected them and I.  Then one day, we found a tumor. We went to the vet, had it removed. She seemed fine. Then three months later, I walked outside and she was dead. :(
She was eight years old. I still miss her. Afterwards, my mother got rid of all the dogs we had, because that was the only one I liked and she knew I was "upset" , "jealous" that her dogs got to live (I was 13 when she died).

I refuse to buy another dog. No other dog could live up to her. She was like a sister to me.

Thats the way i feel.

No dog could live up to Cala, She was special

but I also know that this isn\'t necessarily true, and time heals all wounds.

I\'m a dog guy. I have a Cat and he\'s very cool. and Fish even though I\'m not emotionally attached to the phish

but Dogs just have a type of love that can\'t be duplicated, and I need that type of affection in my world

I have had a dog to. It was a golden/chocolate lab mix. That dog kicked ass. It was around 15 when it died because it\'s body was infested with tumors. Now I have a $600 Pembroke Welsh Corgi. The queen of englad perfers these dogs.

I currently have a cat, a bird, and a dog that I like quite a bit.. and I certainly fear for the future. I hope they live a long time :\\

I\'ve lost 3 dogs and about 5 cats to similar circumstances, ddaryl.  I know how you feel.  Try not to worry though, because things will get easier.  Just don\'t forget her.

see i totally agree there

cats are fine but they will never show this kinda love - cats don\'t come to the door when you get home unless they are hungry or want attention - then when they get what they want they just leave

dogs will always want to be near you - its like you protect them and they tryt o do the same - dogs are like babies in my mind and when someone hurts them or one dies it sucks because they have so much to give to us all

While I guess in a physical sense, such as dogs coming to the door (and jumping on you and knocking you over, in the case of my pet german shepard/something much smaller than a german shepard mix), they are more loving, I really don\'t classify them on the same level as birds (at least in my experience). My pet bird, though constricted to it\'s cage, is very loyal to me, very lovable when I take it out of it\'s cage and stuff, very talkative.. I dunno. Dogs are certainly loving creatures, expecially my pet golden retriever, and the same applies to cats, though to a lesser extent.. but I doubt that anything could really live up to my pet bird.

That\'s just me though, obviously everyone\'s preferences on this subject differ.

I  understand your feelings completely, ddaryl. I am sorry for your loss, but I have experienced the same... about year and a month ago.

We had this lovely chihuahua ( I have posted a pic of him here, but it\'s ages ago and perhaps you don\'t remember ), named Leevi. You know, chihuahua\'s usually live over 10 years. He was my best friend, and I loved him a lot - he was a family member, and as valued as others.

He ran away two times, because he was a wild spirit, and just wanted to sniff around the world. But both times it was me who found it from the "big city" surrounding us - why I said \'big city\' is that it was big for our dog.

But then, last spring my dog ran away, it was the second time. He was lost for about half an hour, and we were in panic. There is so many ways a small dog can be lost in a city, and killed under a car. But no, he didn\'t die, and I found him. Lucky me. If I just had known he only had about month to live...

Month later my dog got strange. He just stood in corners and shook. So we took him to the vet, and the vet said there was some problems with his anal and his stomach was flushed. Afterwards he seemed ok, and the vet said he should just rest and lay down. Well, we went to bed too, it was late night, with Leevi\'s little bed next to us. But when we woke up, a shock awaited us. Our dogs back-legs were paralyzed. He couldn\'t move them, he had to move with his two front-feet, and it was painful to watch. We cried and cried, and then called my grand-dad for advice - his dogs had had the same operations done to them as well. He replied that the dog can\'t walk for few days after the operation - but he didn\'t know the real state of our dog. So the next day we took him to the vet. The vet couldn\'t know what to do with him - she just said the situation was quite hopeless.

But then we heard about this miracle-vet, who had healed cats and dogs near death. We took him there. He x-rayed him, and found no problems - just gave him some medicine and said everything would be okay. In two days he\'d be fine. But no. Then we found this vet who places animal\'s disjointed bones back to their places. We took Leevi to him, and he found out it was one of his back-bones wich had been disjointed, and the bone was pressing a nerve, \'thus making the legs paralyzed. So, he fixed the problem and gave our dog two days time to heal. If he wouldn\'t heal, there was nothing to do. So, the friday of the week, we took our beloved dog, 2 years old, to a vet to put him out.

The saddest day of my life. A dog wich should\'ve lived for 15 years died at the age of 2. I was so jealous to my friends whose dog lived, and I constantly thought why our dog had to die so young...

We will never take a chihuahua anymore. Later on a vet said that our dog had had extra-weak back-bones. A natural problem. Did he fell from a sofa during the night? Or was it a natural event? We may never know.

R.I.P. Leevi. We will meet again...
*sniff* :(

I also just lost a dog on June 30 to cancer, she was a 10 year old golden retriever.  Last week sometime one of our kittens disappeared too, I\'m guessing our neighbor did something with it.  The sick bastard already killed one of our cats, hung it in our garage.

I\'ve seen our two dogs and three cats get put to sleep. It hurts. Especially if they\'re young and should have lived for years to come. But even though you miss them the pain will fade - believe me. We don\'t have any animals now though, and I don\'t know if I\'ll ever get pets again. I might, I just don\'t know... there\'s nothing worse than seeing someone/something you love die. I\'m not sure I want to go through it again.

That reminds me of my old neighbor.. though it\'s a very different story, it reminds me of them.

They basically had around 30 cats, were never home, supposedly just left the toilet bowl up and left bags of food lying around for them. They were in terrible condition.. the people who lived there wanted to keep the cats for some reason, though. I recall my parents contemplating calling due to animal abuse several times.

This was 3 moves ago, I wasn\'t too old at the time, but old enough to remember it.

ddaryl,

Thanks alot for making me cry at work;). I empathize with you seriously. I was there when my family dog was put down. I watched as the lethal injection was made, I held her(Sandy) head as she closed her eyes for the last time. I nearly died.

Now I have two of my own. A Lab mix, and a Lab/Doberman (7&2 yrs old). I dread the day when they will go, but the love and comfort they provide makes it all worthwhile.

My condolences

Cyg.

Yes, samwise, I know. You eventually get over it - and I hope you fastest recoveries, ddaryl. Your dog is not alone.

I have gone trough the sorrow, and I have survived from the pain. But I still can\'t watch live video of him without bringing a tear into my eye...

I still miss you Leevi... but we shall see each other again... but not yet. Not yet.

:crying: .This is so upsetting. I haven\'t had a dog or anything but i\'ve had hampsters which i\'ve really got attactched too. I think its bad for any animal to die.

As for that sick bastard who hung inteq\'s cat, he deserves to be hung in someones garage. Thats just inhuman.

ddaryl.. Yeah its very sad when you loose one of your pets..

I lost one of my cats a year ago..
She was 16 years old.. Got cancer in the liver..

She was just like your dog. Avoding us, sleeping all the time. Staying in the darker areas.

She used to be "round" not fat but pretty big. When we took her to the vet, she was so thin..

I remember that she started to throw-up alot before she died..
So she couldent eat.. And had no energy to walk back inside.
It was summer so she sleept outside..

Ive also lost a bird.. The coolest bird you could ever own.. He only had one eye..

I got one cat left. Her son :)
He\'s 16 this year and looks very healthy..

I hope he has a long life cuz I love him..

I feel for you ddaryl.. This brings tears to my eyes.. :(

But cats also have that "certain kind of love" but it\'s rare. I had  one like that. Didn\'t sleep for days since it felt so weird it wasn\'t sleeping by my pillow. It still does :(

I feel the worst to come will happen when my pug dies, but shes only 3 so its pretty far away. :eyemouth:

Vivi, I know. Cats who really show emotions and actually like humans, are rare. But we had one, one wonderful cat. It was pitch-black, and we named her Cinderella. The finnish translation to that name suited our cat very well.

Cinderella loved to be around people. She always came to sit on my lap, to sleep there, and she always searched for company. She wasn\'t a wild cat, she never enjoyed being outside - she was always in with us. She had this wise look to her. She was very close to me.

She was wise. We could leave her for few days alone. One time we forgot to leave papers for her to do her things, but she had opened the WC-door and pood straight to the toilet and peed to the hand-washer.

But when she was 6, she gave birth to 5 kitties. 3 of them died, 2 survived. Then, I don\'t know what, but she started to moan a lot. It wasn\'t the actual reason why we gave her away - my little-sister got allergic to cats. She started to have symptoms - some say that to some the allergia might develop, if too much time is spent around cats. Well, we gave her away. I just hope she\'s still alive and living up to the life she deserves.

I loved that cat :(

Ddaryl, we can never take chihuahua anymore. They\'re really weak, and small, that\'s one reason. Second reason is, that we\'re still emotionally attached to Leevi. He was something SO unique, so cute and so personal that we won\'t find a better chihuahua ever.
