Title: HAVE YOU played any game that you give a score OF 10.0
Post by: QuDDus on July 22, 2001, 06:02:14 AM
I don\'t think there is one game I have every played that did not think had flaws somewhere in the game. I don\'t think there is a game that we would ever truley give a perfect 10 too.

I don\'t think anything, ever, should get a 10.  Nothing is ever perfect.

A 10 to me would mean that the game is the best in its genre and it only has a few tiny flaws, not that it is perfect. That\'s not what a 10 means on any review site or magazine. I would have given Mario 64, and Zelda:OoT 10\'s. But I\'ve never given anything I\'ve reviewed a 10. Twisted Metal or SSX probably got the highest recent scores from me.

I say a 10 is a game all around that kicks ass. I mean the flaws are so tiny that you can\'t even tell. I mean it would really have to kick major ass. I have not played a game like that yet. Some have come close but not to a 10

I can\'t find any flaws in Unreal Tournament that I can find so far.

Super mario Bros 3, or Sonic 1. Old firstparty games ARE perfect.

Sonic 1 could be easily beaten in about 45 minutes though, so I don\'t think it is perfect. Would I have given it a 10 back in the day? Maybe so, but it\'s not perfect. SMB3 was pretty damn close, easily a 10, but I\'m sure I could find something to say it\'s not perfect.

games that get a ten from me are games I still play today, heavily.

Tetris (GB)
Sonic 3 (Genesis)
SMB3 (NES)
Virtual On: Cyber Troopers (SS)
Wonderboy 3 (SMS)
Phantasy Star 4 (Genesis)
Shenmue (DC)
VF2 (SS)
Street Fighter 3:3

I can\'t think of any more

Tetris is a good example. I\'d give it a 10, but of course its graphics and sound aren\'t perfect. But if any game has infinite replay, it\'s Tetris.

I think there are a lot of great games in the videogames history but I believe a game can´t get a 10 cause there are a perfect game, it´s my opinion... anyway if I had to put a TEN in a game, it would be FFVII.

Its not possible to give a game 10.0 points..
cuz 10.0 points means 100% perfect..

which no game IMO is..

No game is truely perfect, but that\'s why people have STANDARDS. Up to my standards, the following games I would give a ten.

Mario3
Mario World
Super Metroid
Mario 64
Goldeneye
Zelda:OOT

Super Metroid is the only game which required more than 1 second of thought to put in there. The rest just instantly came to mind.

No RPG deserves 10 because barely any of them have any replay value whatsoever(except PSO of course). When they end I quit playing because I have no desire to play it again.

It will take a lot of effort on a developers part to create a game that I believe is worth of a 10.0.  It has to be so incredibly fun and look so incredibly good that a 10.0 is so necessary that I would feel like an ass if I didn\'t give it that.  Maybe someday, a game I review will have that, but I don\'t see that happening... except wiht maybe rogue squadron 2.

I personally disagree. The SNES RPG Earthbound has a great amount of replay value (for me; I\'ve beaten it four times now). However, this doesn\'t apply to any other RPG I\'ve played, but I haven\'t played many other RPGs, so...

I personally only play RPG\'s once.

But some people fly through the game the first time, then play it a second time in order to see every detail, get every object, etc.

FFC has multiple endings, there\'s replay for ya.

But for me, 80 hours on a game (That\'s how long I take, I like to stop and smell the roses in my RPG\'s), and it\'s money well spent, no need for replay.

exactly!

In game reviews at ign and such, replay value should not be  included in the score that the rpg gets because 50 or 60 hours is plenty from a game and it should not need replay value:)

I agree with Aaron. A 10.0 means it is the best of its genre with very small flaws...

Tetris.
Mario 64.
Mario 3.
Street Fighter 2.

Few flaws.  In the computer world, one bug in 10 000 lines is well written.  (Windows 2000 has 42 mil. lines, that\'s 4 200 bugs.)

I don\'t know what the standards are for computer games, but "few bugs" isn\'t as great as you make it seem.

I simply never give a 10.0 \'cause there is always the chance of something new that could have surpassed something labeled 10.0, and you can\'t fairly give it it\'s proper make in margin.

Zelda: A Link to the Past deserves a 10 I think. I mean when it came out it was like the game that everyone played. Street Fighter 2 was awesome too.

Thanks LIC. Listen guys, nobody in the games industry says a 10 is perfect, not IGN, not EGM, not gamespot, not Sonyweb, not psx2central. Nobody does, so why would you argue the fact that it does. I guess that\'s what it could mean to you, but it doesn\'t mean it to the people giving out the scores, so that would just make you at odds with them. Couple that with the fact that different people like different games, and you should realize the scores are subjective. 10 is not a perfect game.

10 is not a perfect game because perfect doesn\'t exist in gaming. Perfect entertainment could be a phrase - but perfect game isn\'t possible. It fights against facts of reality.

There is no flawless product out there - but 10 is a margin of very great gaming-experience wich lasts long, and still impresses you and gives you something new after many years. 10 is a score only few games should achieve - and those games are old.

Well, I have a few I must give a 10, because I love them, have been playing them for about 8 years every now and then and they still make me smile and impress me with their gameplay.

Lemmings - an all out classic. Still the best puzzle-game I\'ve ever played - and I\'ve played many, as I am a puzzle-freak. Been playing it for 8 years and still haven\'t completed it. It is close \'tho, only few levels to go. And I have NEVER used a walktrough.

Super Mario World - some say the game is easy. I say the game is wonderful, great, perfect entertainment. It has a massive replay-value, and it really is going to take you some time to fully complete it.

Starfox - well, this was revolutionary at the time, and I miss those times when I was able to play this gem.

Three games thus far.
