Your totally right. I never thought about a 3D game while maintaining 2D gaming approach. That would be absolutely perfect for the next Metroid. Hopefully Nintendo would dump Retro altogether and take the project themselves...
****, that level brought back some classic Super Metroid memories...

Strider 2 did that and it turned out great. Same could happen for Metriod if Nintendo would get a clue..
