RUMOR: XBox GPU speed drop to 233 MHz
Found this on Beyond3D\'s console forum.

"CTW has been informed by an Xbox development source that the NVIDIA-manufactured graphics processor in the console will now run at 233Mhz, not 250Mhz as was previously announced. This is the second drop in speed for the chip, which was originally set to run at 300Mhz, and is being blamed on ensuring manufacturing consistency."

I don\'t know if this is true(i doubt it), but if it is, it\'s not exactly good, is it?
It\'s a small drop, 17 Mhz, but it all adds up. If this keeps up it might drop down to the power of ps2. Just kidding....

Thats bad... Really bad.. Sence its only 4 months left.. Developers might get angry..

I think MS rushed out the specs, not to mention the dev kits...

But they keep changing it all the time.. Very bad..
They havent even started production.

The only change that comes to mind since the Xbox was first shown is a 2gig upgrade on the hard drive which doens\'t effect anyone. They finished the plants quite some time ago so the likelyhood of them not having started to build the consoles is extremely low.

If they were going to delay, they would not annouce a delay till the last minute so they can blame it on something. Well.. at least that would be what makes sense. the N64 when it was delayed, it was normally right before the expected date. People forget that MS is a delay addict.. they are historic delayers. Alot of their products were delayed. Their interactive TV product was delayed 8 months! let alone their OS\'s etc.

about the CPU problem, I think that rumor is false, I read it on the ign.xbox forums, they comfirmed it was a communication error.. someone mistaking 250 mhz with 233 mhz

The fanboys of the ignxbox forum are of a differnt breed, don\'t belive a word they say... even the VIPs that go there.
