Yesterday I got the Toshiba 20" Flat TV and connected it to the PS2 using the Sony component video cable. I must say it\'s a totally new experience. There is so much detail in the graphics of these games that can\'t be seen on a plain TV with the standard AV connector. You can get this TV from BestBuy right now for $299.99, it\'s well worth it!
Thanks,

I\'d rather stick with my 59 16:9 inch HDTV.:D

My 47\' 16:9 TV rocks... But the toshiba is nice as well
16:9 is the only way to fly:nerd:

Who\'s got the biggest... er um... :D :) :D
My Toshiba 65" RPTV looks very nice indeed with the PS2. If you haven\'t played GT3 in 16:9 mode, you haven\'t played. Nuff said.

"35 Toshiba with S-Video cables and surround sound.
Now thats a new experiance, can\'t do without ss.

$299? I can use the $$$ I get back from the govt for it! YES! can I hook it up to cable TV (I have Digital) also?
-
20"??? That\'s all??? That sucks. I have a 19" right now, which is why I\'m looking forward to a new 50"...:D I have to pay for it (or help out), though...
-
I\'d like a new TV but a 20" is kind of small.

And mine is a 19", as you can see why I\'m getting a larger one...

I went to best buy to check out the tv and I like it...I got the 14" one tho due to the limited space.....they were all out so I ordered it on-line I should have it in the next 2-5 days, for $200 +S&H and Taxes that isnt too bad.

When will hdtv get to 65 khz for horizontal scan lines? I been wondering because their highest resolution, 1080 is interlaced, if it double the speed or (power), then it can go 1080p @ 60 hz/frames. I know computer monitors had already went higher than that, like 1200p + @ 75 hz/frames.
I just can\'t seem to understand why can\'t hdtv go progressive at 1080 mode at 60hz since computer monitors can go higher without any hazzle. You know, i really hate interlaced and if they can make 1080p, then make it go 30hz or stick with 720p @ 60hz. I prefer lower resolution that give precise and smooth frame. Like MPEG 1 vs. VHS, although VHS is better, I think MPEG is better thanks to progressive picture.
Last but not least, does anybody know when 1080 mode will be progressive scan at 60hz? Thanks.:D

30in Sony Trinitron w/ Svid
Sony DB-930 Receiver (Aluminium front)
B&W 602 s2\'s (fr)
B&W 601 s2\'s (rr)
B&W CC6 s2 (ct)
I have this equpiment mainly for DVD\'s, games consoles do not show off expensive HT equipment well, it looks good but not half as good a DVD image or CD sound.
You probably wouldn\'t notice much quality increase over an anverage tv with a standard 2 ch audio setup. Size of tv matters with games and I think games are more suited to 4:3, my tv does the \'squeeze\' but I still use 4:3, most arcade games have 4:3 screens anyway.
I just don\'t think it wise to spend shed loaadsa money on HT equipment JUST for gaming, game image and sound is far inferior to other sources (although the PS2 outputs 48kHz which is higher than CD, the sound is still not up to much, game sound never is)
Infact sometimes a good audio setup can detract from the enjoyment slightly, remember my post on the sound in GT3 distorting?
Better speakers reveal more flaws in the source.
The best thing you can do to improve your gaming experience I think is:
First ditch composite input, use svid or component (RGB scart too)
Second get a larger screen, it doesn\'t have to be the latest and most expensive flat screen contrary what people will tell you
Plug the PS2 into an external amp with some speakers, here again console sound is not exactly reaching audiophile proportions it\'s usually very compressed sounding, so it doesn\'t need to be mega bucks.
The alternative, get into Home Theater (like me) then you will have a kickass HT setup MORE than worthy of any games machine

KillaX - You\'ll love it - I was going to get the 14" too but they only had the 20".
Others - I wish I had $8000.00 for that huge 16:9 plasma model!
Besides, it\'d look kinda weird in my tiny apt, hehe.

It\'s harder for a 65" HDTV to do 1080p than a 19" monitor. The scan gun would have to be super fast to cover 65 inches while 19" is not really much of a problem.
We won\'t see 1080p for a looooooonng time at home. 1080p is used as an archival format for production studios, and they won\'t release them due to piracy concerns. I say just enjoy what\'s available now and wait till the next format arises. Still, a 1080p movie for the home sounds good to me! :)
