Title: What would you name the PS3?
Post by: ajoh432 on July 30, 2001, 09:35:50 PM: Make up a creative name for the PS3? Because I hope we never have to see the PS9! I\'ll start this one out..... This one just popped in my head..... it might be wrong..... PlayPak or PP! lol..... Okay you guys just start to think of ones.

Post by: M4 on July 31, 2001, 06:09:16 AM: Technically "The Station" would cover all of those things. Just because something has a feature doesn\'t mean that it\'s required for it to be in it\'s name; no past console has said directly that it\'s a "Game Machine" in it\'s name or anything.

Actually, a couple have somehting like "Computer Entertainment System." But enough arguing over what the name shall be. The title of the thread os "What would you name the PS3." Sorry that I started debating. But it makes you think about how fun it would be if SONY had a big campaign and let us vote on comsumer-submitted names. Then PS3 would be "The games system you named, and would add a personal attachment to the machine, giving them more of a reason to buy it. (Oh gawd, I\'ve slipped into business mode!)

Who knows though, Sega and Nintendo have/had different names for thier console, and they did fine for the most part. :alien:

Actually, the PS was never officaly known as a "PSX". Sony would always refer to it as the Playstation or "PS". At one time they considered naming it "PSX" before it was released. The name was just cooler then the simple "PS" and therefor it stuck with the masses. At least, that is how I understand the history of it.

And if they called it simply the "P3" , Intel may have a lawsuit.

At one point they had the name GScube.

Sure it\'s not PS3, but it does have something to do with PS3. It\'s a prototype of what developers could use for PS3.

NOBODY cares. posts counts are not reflective of repect believe it or not. I have like a 4 or 5 post per day average and many people (with open minds) respect me and my opinions. Right now, I think the only people who respect you are the spammers and newbies.

Real respect from me and many others who appear to have lives will be earned by posting reasonable, sensible, NEEDFUL posts.

I am sorry if you are offended, but someone had to say it and I haven\'t been known to censor myself.

I even respect Jumpman a tad now, even though we hardly ever agree and hardly ever argue with eachother in a nice manner.

I mostly post my opinion. Rarely do I spam. I\'m sorry that you don\'t think my opinions are not reasonable, sensible, or needful. I happen to like to share my opinions.

I really do think you could have PM\'d this to me, or at least started a "Hey, let\'s bash Troglodyte" thread, instead of completely streaming off topic here.

I find it ironic that the two people I most disagree with at this forum say this. Hmmmm, afraid of opposition? Or is it other peoples opinions?
