Yep, I\'ve known that
I\'m still getting one..
but

1- EA said they are not including stats in Madden 2002 cause of t he tiny memory card
2- The Console Design
3- General game lineup
4- Purple color is main color
5- .. and now this

It’s that they want to keep the kids glued to Nintendo.  It doesn\'t mean that the kids market is all they are aiming for (although I believe it remains their main focus but, of course, that is a very debatable opinion).

Dammit, why am I so smart?

Kiddie is Japan sells, duh? Pokemon Gold and Silver sold 3 million each there and I believe Red and Blue sold the in the same area. The Japanese gaming market is totally different, damn shame none of you can pick up on that yet.

And do you expect Nintendo to advertise games like Luigi\'s Mansion and Smash Bros during "Hardcore Asian Porn Hour"? IDIOCY.

Once again, I am the voice of reasonning.

3- General game lineup

Click that and tell me with a straight face that the general line-up of games is kiddie.

5- .. and now this

Explained above.

God gave me a gift and I shall use it- commen sense.

Pokemon burned holes in wallets globally, not just in Japan. I don\'t see your point there.

No, but I expect Nintendo to air their first Gamecube ads on regular channels, not Pooh\'s Magical Adventure.

Nintendo of America has a brand new Market Man, of course I bet hes going to do a really good job marketing the cube in the US. Since hes knew, he will probably market RL, SSBM, and ED. And of course, THE CUBE.

Nintendo has a big association with kids. Why would they want to change there image.  Peep this I was watching a tv program and some one brought up kids and then they started talking about kids computers and how they love nintendo. And right there I said nintendo will never change parents associate there kids with nintendo. So I don\'t see nintendo marketing any different than they have in past. Sure a lot of die-hard nintendo fans who are tired of ppl calling nintedo a kiddy system feel nintendo will change, BUT business wise they have no reason to change so don\'t expect them too. They appeal  to a large market that they have on their own. They bring in big profits without wasting money going outside there business strategy. And with xbox and ps2 battling after the same market nintedo can just let the duke it out and pick up the scraps without spending one dime.

Plus there will tons of games that ppl consider very kiddie and basicly there is noway for them to get out of this image. And anyways it does them very good. It does not harm nintendo it just an easy mark for playstation fans to poke fun at.

I guess Pokemon was a bad example them the point I\'m trying to make is that supposed kiddie games sell just as well as supposed all around games. Then again, that happens in America and Europe too...hhhhmmmm....

Nintendo will always dominate the younger market and they\'ll always make games to contain it. But that certainly doesn\'t mean they won\'t make games for everyone. :)

I dodged the bullet pretty well there...

The thing is, that IS a regular channel in Japan. Like I said, they\'re different from us. And for god\'s sake these are just Nintendo\'s FIRST ads, you can\'t speculate that all of them will follw suit. You can but it would be pretty dumb...

I love Nintendo, but sometimes i think they let the old-timers down by catering too much to a niche market/segment... IMO.

The link says:

All that will be scaled back, according to EA, is data related to the game\'s Franchise Mode -- specifically the career statistic tracking for players won\'t be supported. This is because of the relatively miniscule amount of memory available in the standard GameCube Digicard -- roughly half a megabyte, or 512k. The PS2 version\'s Franchise Mode requires 1.3MBs of data for saves, which the Digicards obviously don\'t have. EA says it is still exploring the possibility of utilizing the added memory storage capacity of SD Cards, which GCN supports through the usage of an SD Digicard Adapter, an addition that Nintendo is expected to release later this year.

Where exactly were Chrono\'s facts not straight?  Sure they\'re looking into a possablilty, but Chrono was right.

stats overall and career stats are different.

By saying "stats" it makes it seem like it is a very unfinished game. Without like how many yards X player ran in the last game.

career stats are only useful for franchise mode junkies and heavy season mode users.

It doesn\'t sound as bad if you say it correctly and not make it seem worse than it already is.

Ugh. He said STATS, implying EVERY POSSIBLE STATISTIC would not be save.

Don\'t bother replying, your dead wrong here.

EDIT: OMG! Me and Altered almost said the exact same thing at the exact same time! The don\'t bother responding part especially... Weird...

So I can\'t even post to tell you guys that YOU\'RE RIGHT???

I see now, all I needed was a little clarifying.  Though I do think that the absence carrer statistics hurts the game.

Sorry, got a little confused.

no, I know when I am right.

When I am wrong, I have people out there that catch my mistakes, like Jumpman and datamage, thankfully, I hardly ever wrong.

you don\'t need to make agreement posts, we know when we are right. I have made several posts about this in the past, yet you are new and don\'t know that.

don\'t reply to this.

Yeah...Nintendo just ticks me off. They\'ve taken over everything, and they brought Pokemon into the world... It has taken 3 years, but my parents are finally calling my PlayStation a PlayStation and not Nintendo. My little cousins still say "can we play your Nintendo?" though...:( I\'ll never get a break...;) They\'re into the kiddie genre, but at least they\'re not harming anyone...or almost anyone...never mind.

I dont really think that it hurts the game. Sure stats can be fun to look at for awhile, but you get sick of them after awhile. Its the gameplay that matters

wHAT you must just be a casual nfl fan who only watches football when it is time for the superbowl. Because who in the hell is going to just play nfl madden just for the exhibition mode. The stats play the biggest part in the game. I am a die hard football fan and have been playing madden since the day it was started. I mean if stats don\'t matter to you in a nfl game then you must just not be true nfl fan.

Sure the gameplay is hell of important but I create my on qb and get out there make him the top qb in the game. But I have no reason to play if all I am going to have is exhibition mode because i like having all my players in the top percentage in the game.

Well me being a die hard football fan. Every single stat is important to me. As I often only play exhibition with just  friends. And who buys madden just for the exhibition mode??? I mean IT sucks if your player states are not all going to be there. And seeing how die hard nfl fans like me like creating there own teams and players. And racking up tons of stats with there players this will definently suck.  I will end up getting the game on ps2 anyways. So gcn problem won\'t even bother Me I doubt die hard football fans are going to get there nfl fix of gamecube anyways so this problem won\'t even matter.

You wanna put a little wager on something here?

I will bet my 1989 original Gameboy that when NFL2K2 comes out for Gamecube, it will have the franchise mode. I also bet that even though that will happen, Madden will still sell more. Sega just tries harder.

any takers?

I have 15 different fantasy football accounts on 4 different websites. I schedule my Fall classes around Monday night football and NCAA football. I have been playing since the age of 7-ish and I once bet $500 on the Super Bowl with a friend and lost badly.

BTW, I was just kidding about that "DON\'T BOTHER REPLYING" stuff.  I said it because everyone else kept saying it and I wanted to be cool. :(

Even though Japan may be a tad quirky to us, they can\'t be so different that college students watch pre-school fanfare. Yes, these are Nintendo\'s first ads; what will people think when they see it on shows like Rugrats?? For a company trying to rid themselves of the kiddy image, that won\'t help them much IMO. But I\'m hoping you\'re right, that latter GC ads will appeal to a more broader audience.

Nintendo isn\'t trying to rid themselves of their kiddy image( it\'s actually more of a "family company" imgae but nonetheless), that would be pure suicide. What they\'re trying to do is to gain some access to more of the older audience.

Nintendo ads are usually on most channels anyways. WWF shows usually have a lot of nintendo ads. Just one out of the many examples. Kids channels won\'t be the only channels that they advertise on.

Well  anyone who bought a dreamcast or has a friend or cousin, uncle, brother, or sister that has dreamcast knows that SEga makes the best sports games now..although madden might outsell nfl2k2 because of it\'s long history with fans...I think madden has sucked every since it left genesis if you ask me...And as for NBA live....I thought 99 was the best one they made on any playstation system so far...but it stills falls behind NBA2Kseries.
