Well, maybe...it\'s an exciting rumor!
http://xbox.ign.com/news/37107.html
Could you imagine what that would do for software sales? 35$ for Munch, DOA3, Halo, JGRF, SSX Tricky, Madden...
I think it would drive sales of the Xbox itself through the roof, and up some more! I just can\'t get over that, 35$ for an Xbox game.
It would cause more impulse buying for sure, for me anyway. When I got my DC back on 9/9/99, I was looking for one game to get that day (I bought 5 more later that week). I came across Soul Calibur and it was 34.99$, I picked it up and didn\'t think twice.
I hope this and the early release turn out to be true...

considering the markup value of video games, i consider this unlikely

It may be just for launch games to get the system moving along. Then they will introduce the hideous price of 49.99 that plagues all the PS2 games.

Hey, it\'s better than the 59.99 price that N64 games had. :)
This rumor doesn\'t make a lot of sense though. Why would they release a console for $300, and sell the games for only $35? It would be smarter to sell the system for $200 and sell the games for the same price as the NGC games. That way people would not get scared off by the steep $300 price tag, and Microsoft would still be making just about the same amount of money.
-
There were like 5 games that were 60 bucks, come on. It won\'t stay at $35.
-
I guess it\'ll be fine for MS, but how will the dev\'s make money?? I doubt this is true.
-
I don\'t get it...
Microsoft is already losing money on each system...
and they are planning to lose money on softwares too? Where is the profit coming from? huh?
-
yea for real i highly doubt any of that to be true
as it is just not making sense to lose money on the system and then to mark games lower they need to be 35 is too low - maybe 40-45 just to be a step under the competition[ps2] thats already out and it would give them an edge - a 35 price tag may bring lots of people but it might scare away some of the smaller devs

Yeah this is just a weak and unlikely. Because this would be totally ass backwards to sell the games at a low price and system at high..and anyways they where mostly talking about Ms games and not third party games...because developers have to turn a profit on games so the rumor was meant to be about Microsofts games...I don\'t know how third parties got pulled into this rumor..anyways it is false and would make no sense business wise so I totally agree with you ironfist

There is no way in Hell Microsoft will charge less than $50 for anything they sell. Mousepads included
-
I think it\'s time we let another OS shine in the limelight... preferably Linux!!!
Microsoft can Kiss my Royal ASS!!!

No it makes Perfect Sense to sell the games LOW and the Console high. Why do you think the sales of DVD players continue to increase as the price of DVD movies drop? Remember the XBox has a DVD player, thus $35 game would help Xbox sales. Because the price is closer to the price of DVDs. Some DVD\'s do infact cost $35 (depending on where you buy)

Haha Emp:)
The Xgames could be $10 for all I care:p

I think the sales of DVD players are increasing because the price of DVD players are going down, and because it is now a less risky thing to invest your money into. A couple years ago, nobody knew how long the DVD media would stick around. DVD players are not selling better because the DVDs are getting cheaper IMO.
It wouldn\'t make any sense to sell the console high and the games low. The Xbox being $100 more than the NGC is already scaring off a lot of the casual gamers (and the casual gamer\'s parents ;)). If they charged only $200 for it and charged $50 per game, or even $55 per game, Microsoft would sell a lot more consoles IMO.

Then install Linux and quit b*tching about it. Or install 2k which is an excellent OS.

Why are you lot being like this, surly it is a better thing for us all if the game are $35,i couldnt give a **** if microsoft is losing money,it makes no difference to me,and i really hope that the games are $35 that means i can buy more games for the system.
Also it is about time the games came down in price, surly the developers have more chance of selling more games at a less price, and if perants see the game at $35 dollars then they are going to go with that, because in the long run you will be saving more money. :D
Just a thought so what do you all think?
