Do you remember this game?? (If the pic doesn´t appear is a problem of the CVG server)
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.computerandvideogames.com%2Fnews%2F08_01%2F3212%2F6.jpg&hash=b4616a2740c4a2f7557235b469d6012aba8c7846)
As you know, some weeks ago I posted 6 screens of this game. People began to chat about the realtime or not of the screens. Now CVG has got an interview with the developers. Here you are it:
Those shots were too good to be true? Not according to Fox. Forget Ripley: whacking xenomorphic killing machines enters an entirely new phase
Aliens: Colonial Marines, if these screens are anything to go by, is going to be one of the best looking games you’re going to play in the next six months. PlayStation 2 exclusive, EA’s title follows events in the classic sci-fi horror series after the all-action, acid blood-splattering events in Aliens. Ripley survived. The Queen is dead. Long live the Queen? Don’t bet your maiden aunt.
You’re in charge of a squad of die-hard marines in the depths of space. Throw in formation tactics and some of the most revered fictional weaponry ever created and the formula is firmly set for pant-wetting thrills.
CVG got the chance to quiz Chris Miller from Fox and Jack Mamais from developer CheckSix on the first-person action-chiller that could potentially send the rest of the crowd to bed without any supper.
CVG: Can you give us an overview of the story of the game? Are you adhering rigidly to the Aliens universe or throwing in a few surprises of your own?
Colonial Marines team: You’re a marine who\'s assigned to a search and rescue detail. A troop of marines went to investigate a situation on LV426. More than 17 days after their last transmission, your detail is being sent in to find out what went wrong.
We are sticking very close to the Aliens movie series, and staying very true to the franchise. We will, however, be introducing and revealing some new alien species and some of the darker secrets of Weyland-Yutani. Our interest is to expand the lore of the universe without revealing too many secrets of the entire Alien story arc.
CVG: How do the command features work and what are they? How have you used the Dualshock 2 to implement them?
Colonial Marines team: The player will be able to control the formations and facing of the squad. Every button on the dual shock has been designed to be used in ACM.
CVG: You get to take on the alien threat over five environments. Can you tell us what they are and how they fit into the game\'s plot?
Colonial Marines team: The five environments of the game include a Weyland-Yutani corporate mining world, the Sulaco from the movie Aliens, a gigantic trashed Salvage Ship, a Weyland-Yutani Secret Research station and a unknown planet that has been infested with a Xenomorph horde. The missions slowly reveal a plot that Weyland-Yutani is trying to harvest Xenomorphs for use as biogenic weapons. The plot also attempts to clarify what happened at the beginning of Alien 3 (the alien eggs aboard the Sulaco) and gives a glimpse into a much more dangerous universe.
CVG: The recently released screens of the game look amazing. Are they really taken from the actually running code?
Colonial Marines team: Yes they are, and the screens you have seen are actually older! We look much better now. :bounce: :bounce:
CVG: The game is mission-based. How important was it for you to build a story into the game instead of working on a pure shooter such as AvP2?
Colonial Marines team: ACM was built around the story. We felt
more like we were almost working on the sequel to Aliens.

Thanx a lot Falcon4. I didn´t wanna put a #2000 thread in the Off Topic cause admins doesn´t like that kinda threads. Thank you.

Cool pictures. Wow! The game looks impressive. I wish you could choose to be a Marine or and Alien like Alien Vs. Predator. A game like that on the PS2 and Xbox would be cool with the graphics we have now expect what\'s to come in the future. Anyway thanx for the info Adan.
-
You see...PS2 can\'t do any good graphics...just like everyone\'s been saying. I\'ll just believe what everyone tells me and believe that PS2 sucks... Thanks for the info, man. This is the best news I\'ve heard in a while...;)
Now...hopefully, this game will have a solid framerate...
-
I do believe i posted pictures of that game first, but because i am not one of the "WELL KNOW PEOPLE" around here, people dont bother to say **** in your threads!
p.s good to see that the graphics are getting better, still dont believe that things will be that smooth on the straight lines issue!

I don\'t want to sound like a jaded old cynic, and I\'ve read the above statement from the developers that this is screenshots from the actual game, but it just looks unbelievably good!
Damn it all!!!!!! I\'ll take their comments to heart!!! The PS2 is fast becoming phoenix-like, and it\'s graphical wings are billowing in style. This black monolith is really taking giant leaps, and how I\'d love to see the sneer fall from the most jaded of cynics out there.
Or.....those shots ARE too good to be true, and we\'ll all be laughed at. :(
And the developer states that those are old shots, and it now looks even better!!!!
Droooool.................

if they were fake, I\'d have to find some way to hurt the developers...

Hmmm...well, this game looks f***ing fantastic. If those are real in-game shots, then this game will just be amazing...and if if comes from EA, I believe that it will run just fine. When does this one come out?

Your welcome.
I really hate that Fall: "To Be Announced" crud. I wanna know the date NOW!!! ;) Oh well. Hopefully the company will be nice and let us have a sneak peek with some movies...

dude where\'s this post or are you talking a few weeks ago
I\'ve been waiting for confirmation tha the screens are in game.
Actually the movie shown off that had little AI in it proved the graphics were for real, I just wanted more details
Hopefully the gameplay and storyline will match the graphics. Such a waste to have a pretty game that play ****ty
but the game surpasses almost all PS2 games in graphical quality

Heres\'a movie from Gamespot...the same one posted above, only it\'s a link directly to the FTP source ;) This means you can use those speed programs to get it faster. I got that 16 meg movie in 4 minutes...:D

oh, and multiplayer would be nice (especially as Hudson)
i like Hudson...greatest character in a movie...ever
-
Thanx for the movies... I didn´t know there was...
-
Wow. Them pics rock. About time too. These are the type of graphics I want from my PS2. :)

Forget it. According to the developer\'s comments above, Hudson\'s already dead at the time this story takes place. I was just thinking, if one of the environments is the Sulaco, you will probably end up walking by Ripley, Newt and Hicks in their freezers. I\'m looking forward to whatever explanation they present for the events between Aliens & Alien3. The scene sequence during the titles of Alien3 is very stylish and disturbing, but not everything is explained properly.
-
Well, if this is what the game will look in the end, then I have to say, its one of the most impressive looking PS2 game! Amazing. Now, I only hope its followed by good gameplay. If that is the case, then we have one spectacular game! :bounce:
Though I still have doubts (since this screenshot looks so amazing).
-
See these graphics are the reason I bought a ps2! Looks too good to be true.... I think these graphics look better than the MGS2 demo!:surprised

bleh, at least just as a bonus multiplayer character, reliving his final battle swearing his nut off, ohh, that would rock
does that mean Hicks could be playable? Damn, the possibilities with these games are endless

i dont know man...maybe for instant visual impact, but when you take into account all the nifty stuff that happens in MGS2, breaking bottles, food, rain drops bouncing off Snake etc...its pretty tough to beat (except for J&D :))

I can agree with you there.... I forgot about the beautiful rain effects and nifty stuff you figure out!:D

It seems like this game is goingo to have such good graphics cause its going to be a you aim and shoot game.
Like super paintball for genesis.
Remember that game?
Cause I dont see a Weapon, and the perpesctive they are giving you with that aiming reticle up is just awkward.
Hopefully its a fully controllable game.
Otherwise its like sewer shark, and that game sucked.
-
Well its a First Person Shooter, and in the interview they talk about the many differnt weapons the game will have
Probably just haven\'t added the weapons in yet
But if the game is like Sewer Shark then your right BIG SUCK
