:)
As he begins to play the game, we marvel at how slick it all looks, even though many elements have yet to be implemented. It runs at a constant 60 fps, with zero pop-up and a tremendously detailed models and environments. Very nice. Ward rants about the vehicles in the game: “The types of car you drive are super mini cars, muscle cars, saloon cars and pick-up trucks. Later on in the game you earn a secret vehicle which is a bus – a bit like the one out of Speed

So, apart from the fact Criterion makes Renderware – a ready-built in-game engine to assist PS2 developers – why is Burnout only heading to Sony console? “We’ve thought about it but right now the deal with Acclaim is just for PS2,” he says. Furthermore his company has had a good relationship with Sony for a long time as a result of Renderware. “It’s a machine we have to target, and we’re really excited about PS2. It’s a big opportunity for us to capitalise on our early experiences with the hardware."

Hmmm.. I always have these mixed feelings when I see
the product of middleware programs like Criterion\'s. It
looks nice but somehow a little voice in my head says I\'m
not completely overwhelmed. Yeah they talk of course about
their familiar being with PS2 hardware and the assistense of
Renderware, but the screens look like a standard-ized engine.
I don\'t know how WRC 2001 is made but that looks definately like
a custom made PS2 engine taking all advantages of the hardware and, maybe the most important aspect, creates it\'s own
visual style.
I mean this game looks nice and all with the motion blur and all but it looks so \'cut n past the fx\'. Now imo PS2 games should be better than that.
