Title: REAL wrestling
Post by: Halberto on August 14, 2001, 11:06:34 AM
I started wrestling this year and OMG, there is no doubt in my mind it is the toughest school sport. Just on the first day I had to run 5 laps arouns the track, carry my friend(30 lbs. more than me!) on my back up a 45* hill 4 times in 100* weather, and have one hour of constant weight lifting.

Am I gonna be buff. ;)

thats nothing compared to football. 9:30 untill 4:45. we get there jog a mile, strecth, stance and starts, ABC\'s, team time, stations, conditioning, then 11 on 11. then lunch then we lift for bout hour, another jog, hit the sled, strecthing, conditioning, team time then 11 on 11 and then the first string of O- linemen do 35 updowns. our coach tells us that it makes us tougher.

Its hard work. But its worth it.

When I did crew it was awfly hard. We got there and stretched than ran 2 miles came back lifted weights the sprinted then ran perimiters and then if possible we went out on the boat and rowed for a while which is a hell of a lot harder then it looks.

I don\'t think the first day can compare to a full day. From everyone that I know in sports tell me wrestling pushes you more than the others. People were throwing up ON THE FIRST DAY.

I have seen some runners before and it\'s amazing that people can run that much.  I am too fat to be in Cross Country.

today i got the s*** beat out of me in a scrimage. my nose was bleedin and my fingers are all cut up. but i made the plays. I died today. Im a freshi and the coach is startin me as a right offensive gaurd, He says im one tough SOB. All of those of u who dont apreciate football its the toughest thing. Charging full speed at another guy and haveing him do the same at u then colidineing takes alot out of u. when we do gassers we sprint up and down the football field anywhere from 4-8 times. thats hard. Its also a psycological game. u have to attack like a rabid dog and convince the other man that u r better than him. 6 hours of practice is rough. I think that u have to be one tough motta fkucer to make the cut. a wrestler who is a sophmore insinsts that football is harder. u have to last the whole game. a wrestling match only lasts bout what 15 minutes(not sure so dont harp me about it).

I think it depends on the school. My school is known for state champs. My coach has 3 state champ rings, while our football has none! Anyway its the same here, a lot of people think wrestling is 2x harder. And wrestling hurts just as bad. imagine being thrown to the ground, put in submissions,etc... They are both full contact. Just depends on the school.
