We are the most efficent country anywhere. We stole everyone\'s resources..and became the number 1 country in the world....the american dollar is means more to other countries than it means to american...but yet a simple thing such as this is too hard................
Well the ppl of minosota got mad at jesse the body ventura because he was on jay leno and he asked him why does he drive a porshe boxer. And jesse said because he wants a depenable car.
Well he is telling the damn truth.....i mean these crappy piece of junk american cars....I have driven and had my share of crap in this america...now 40 or 50 years ago an american car meant something...now it isn\'t worth jack...I am looking FOR a quality used vehicles...so i look at pontiacs..I check out some grand prix...well first of grand prix are some of the stiffest cars you ever want to drive...second how can a 1998 poor quality stiff car cost 15K and retails new what 23K or 24 MSR?????? I mean it is the same with all the crappy american cars...now I was driving a 1999 aurora and I have to say I see why oldsmobile is being deleted from production bye GM that is one high priced horrible drving peace of crap.
Now if u get the luxery of getting a real decent american lets say a cadillac. Now those puppies drive good..I have driven just about ever american car...and have found them to be over marketed peaces of crap...but I am forced to drive them because I can\'t afford the import I want:mad:
Well these are the only good american cars I rank
corvette
firebird
camero
cadillac
lincoln , i know it is part of ford but it still makes good cars.
buick regal(drive goods and u can get good quality used supercharge v8 gs if you shop around.
Chrylser 300M
The most overrated american car is the FORD MUSTANG....ASK anybody that makes customs cars or likes or drive them.. the mustang is a joke the camero out performs it in everyway and it can\'t touch the firebird....IT is just a product of mass marketing.
Now american trucks...well americans have this on lock down..sorry but no japanese or europeans no anything about trucks and i don\'t ever expect those tiny japanese to ever make a good truck all there trucks are small...or have week engines in them. most european and japanese truck engines should be put in cars.
And I am not talking about honda...I mean I there are a lot of honda and hynda marks but those cars..I mean the civic can be customize to be something spectacular...but most of those cars are too small and more suited for the japanese market that is why..they don\'t hold a significant amount of the automotive market. and EVERTHING HYNDA LOOks like it should be shiped back to it\'s COUNTRY...even though I am upset with my countries cars..crap like those aren\'t better.

I really don\'t think America would be offended if you left.

   I bet they would miss all the tax dollars....I mean how else can they afford those nice toilet seats in the white house.

That\'s nice and all if you\'re really out for performance. But to be honest with you, an overwhelming majority of people look more towards stuff like repair histories and MPGs than they do at how fast the car hits 60.
I wouldn\'t want a supercharged ultra turbo car because I can barely afford to run my 93 Hyundai:(

I am also talkinga about dependability

My mom owned a Grand AM, for 13 years i believe,
and it was working great all that time, she spent about
$2000 on repairs over those years. I think they don\'t make American cars as they used to though. Although i like the Camaro, Viper, Corvette, and Firebird cars. ;)
I hate mazda, to replace a stupid muffler with some pipes, the price tag was $500  for what?????
-
You know the Ladas they drive in Russia (I think its a polish car..)
They are damn reliable..
I think american cars are pretty good.. Well we only have one.. :)
I think Germany and Japan makes the best cars though.
-
American cars for the MOST part suck...
Thats why I bought an Audi... Look at consumer reports.. They said the 300M was a shinny bucket of bolts, the ford explorer has been recalled so many times, the Cadillac Catera has so many design problems that they cancelled productoin after only a couple years..
looking at American cars with dependability in mind I could not justify buying one.. Why would you want too when there is nothing but bad press and bad reports on american cars..
I do not like American cars at all..Bigger is not always better, and that seems to be the mentality...

You must either not be a chick, or you have a small wee wee.

I wouldn\'t trade my Explorer for anything. I have grown quite attached to it and I haven\'t had a problem since I bought it.

explorers are the most unsafiest trucks on the highway. Out of all the trucks in it class it is the most at risk and it cost the most to insurance...
That is what was reported bye the insurances companies.

If you don\'t need something high powered and flashy, Saturns are very reliable. I have a 95 SL1, and I\'ve had no significant problems of any sort after 54,000 miles. Of course if you\'re looking for horsepower, you\'ll want to look elsewhere, but don\'t assume there are no reliable american cars. Based on repair and defect records, american cars are almost at parity with imports.
-
Forget about cars. I say we copy the Chinese and start riding bikes. :p
-
German cars all the way ! BMW, Mercedes, Audi , Volkswagen,
they\'re the best ! Go Europe. Germany builds the best Tanks as
well

America is good at many things but not the best in everything. The car manufacturing title for reliability goes to Japan or Germany imo. Who doesn\'t love the old 60\'s muscle cars though?

American cars are butt ugly pure and simple...
European cars are the best, there\'s no doubt that...

Not all of them are ugly IMO,

It doesn\'t matter who makes cars and who makes them. Nobody cares. Volkswagon was made by Hitler. You can\'t drive a whole day without seeing one Beetle.
-
The VW bug/beetle/whatever (the old one mind you) was so popular because of it\'s simplicity and low cost after the war. From a modern viewpoint it\'s an absolutely horrible car.
-
It is true that most American cars are trash. At least were, I believe the quality is increasing rapidly and many american cars can match up to their Japan and European counterparts.
Just look at Ford (a company I absolutely hate) Americans are figuring out that their cars suck, so Ford stops making the Escort (dubbed Deathscort by my brothers), the Contour, the Tempo, etc. The cars are trash, and Ford has been forced to improve the quality.
My brothers Honda went 318,000 Miles before we sold it, as it needed a new clutch cable. The only repairs we had done on it were new clutch and and some minor repairs. The car is probably still running today.
My pop\'s old VW Beetle went another 300+ thousand miles before dying, something you couldn\'t find in American cars.
But I think for the most part, Chevrolet and Chrysler (which you could say is German) are improving their cars. Making them more stylish (300M and Monte Carlo), more dependable, and more fun.
Also, note that the best car by Motor Trend or one of those magazines has been Corvette for the past 2 years. And QuDDuS is correct about Mustangs, they suck nuts. And haven\'t been good since they changed the body from the 64 and a half body. They are overrated, and more importantly, chick cars.
give me a 68 Corvette with a 454 or 502 any day over ANY import or any car for that matter. My other choices would be :
1979 280ZX
90\'s 300ZX
3000GT
Dodge Stealth
Corvette (any year)
Subaru WRX
93 Supra Twin Turbo (FLIES)

As far as quality and dependability go, I rank:
1. Toyota/Lexus
2. Honda/Acura
3. Mercedes Benz
4. Volkswagon/Audi
5. Jaguar
Ok, I dislike Fords main line but you have to give Lincoln some credit. The Navigator may suck up gas and run into problems often, but I would not decline the offer. Would you rather have an Audi A4 or a Lincoln Navigator. Now the new Ford Explorers have been having problems, but it\'s not too distant cousin the Mountaineer hasn\'t reported problems. Well that\'s my speech.

OK guys if I were to trade in my Explorer for a dependable 4x4 that looks nice and will last what would I pick?
What do you guys think of Jeep? When it comes to SUVs.
-
i hate mustang drivers....when im riding in the corvette they always rev there engine and pass me as if there car is faster...mustangs are gay

You do realize that Jaguar is also a Ford company now too don\'t you.

i like the pathfinders.....or if you got money to burn...the lincoln navigator is nice...i havent seen the new jeep liberty yet though
-
and go with an AWD car.. You can\'t go off roading, but it will put to shame a 4WD truck on the road anyday..
I did own a Nissan Pathfinder, a 2000 year model. It was nice, they are great trucks, but I am so glad I own a car again...
-
Thats the thing, I don\'t like AWD cars. I\'ve been into SUVs since I was a young buck. I was thinking about getting a Pathfinder too because I have heard so many good things about it. That and my Explorer decided to breakdown for no inexplicable reason except that it hates me like a retarded red-headed step child with one eye and two teeth.

Hey you forgot VOLVO and SAAB :D
