Title: LOL. I just talked to a Doctor in Computerologi.
Post by: Bossieman on August 18, 2001, 08:56:31 AM
I have a friend that is a doctor in computerologi. We talked about computerchips and graphic-cards about a week ago.
I asked him about proccessorspeeds and stuff like that, What is proccessorspeed? How do you now how fast a proccessor is.

It is not about the specs at all!! Speed  depends on many thing, How the chip is programed, what kind of motherboard you have what kind of memories you use, software , it depends on the motherboard and the overall construction of the PC.
The only way to find out the speed of a proccessor is to give it a challenge. Solve this equation, calculate different things. Specs doesnt mean much. Give the proccessor a task, take the time and compare it with other proccessors, the only way.
He also said that the GF3 card will in theory never be optimised. There is some serious bottlenecks on todays PC:s
Slow memories, bad written software and very bad motherboards.
