First of all I\'m not sure if Sonic Adv. 2 is an exclusive to GC/DC but if it is why do Sega only release it up against Mario on the cube? It would be more reasonable to put it on PS2 and say, VF4 to the cube, since that one has to compete against Tekken4. I think it would be more money wise to release VF4 on the cube wich lacks a decent fighter (except SC2;)) and make the Sonic game for PS2 wich lacks good platform games.. (and really needs a \'mascot franchise\' (sp?) game) Just my two cents tho\'...

It\'s all about who the developers think each console is targeted at. Sonic will sell very well on the NGC because a lot of younger people will own a NGC. VF4 will sell well on the PS2 because a lot of older people own a PS2. I want a Sonic on the PS2, but the developers want money, and they think they will make more money if it is launched on the NGC. I agree with them.
I also think that developers were not sure about the NGC at first. They weren\'t sure who the target audience of it was going to be. Now I think they are realizing that Nintendo is going back to targetting all ages, which is why we are seeing games like SC2 going to the NGC.
-
Why does sony need a Mascot? They have been working well without one so far.
-
I have to agree with IronFist, Sonic is going to the NGC because Nintendo has always target younger people. But with the number of PS2 out there I think Sega will also release a PS2 version of it.
-
I wouldn\'t doubt a PS2 version to be announced at TGS, I also wouldn\'t doubt an Xbox version either.
Sonic Team can be quoted saying they want Sonic on all consoles. Sega doesn\'t mean to isolate any games to just one audience. I\'m sure we\'ll eventually see VF4 on GC and Xbox after the contract is up (and depending how well the game is received). And I bet Phantasy Star Online will find itself on every platform also.
Sega Kicks Ass...now where is my NiGHTS 2?!?!?!?!
-
If Sega needs money I don´t know why it isn´t going to launch its Sonic for PS2...

Mario on the Cube won\'t come out until sometime next year, my guess would be the Spring season. Sonic on the other hand is probably coming out before the year ends on NGC. It\'s officially listed as a playable game at SpaceWorld, it also only took Sonic Team a month to port over PSOV2 to NGC, I don\'t see why it can\'t be released by the end of the year or atleast sometimes in January. It\'s not going to have any competition from Mario, Sonic Team knows their respected franchise has nowhere near the fanbase of the Mario franchise.
Link for SA2 being playable at SpaecWorld. http://nintensity.com/news/gamecube.cgi?id=998450567
It wouldn\'t be more reasonable to put it on the PS2 because it\'s a game which is more popular and well known with the younger audience. Simple as that. Besides, GameCube just seems perfect for Sonic. Every Nintendo fan in existence knows about Sonic and now that they\'ll be able to play him on their console.

WORD
Mascotts are retarded and I don\'t want to see one every time I turn on my PS2.

I want a mascot,I thought Jak and Daxter would be Mascots kind of like Crash was.

That wouldn\'t be as cool...since I know more older people own the PS2, as opposed to many children owning the original. I gave mine to my little cousin for his birthday and the first game he got was, you guessed it, Crash bandicoot... I don\'t want PS2 to have a mascot...unless the mascot is really bad-a**...:D

Jak and Daxter will blow SA2 clear out of the water IMO and it will be here for Christmas
Then there is insomniacs platformer which Sony is keeping on wraps for now. Insomniac was the original makers of Spyro who has been bought out I do believe or liscensed as a 2nd party one or the other to provide exclusive content to the PS2
both games are newer and fresher then anything Sonic.
IMO The Cube can have SOnic
NOW if Sega would like to develope a completely new platformer then I say bring it to the PS2 but no Sonic ports thank you
just my Opinion so don\'t go off telling me how great you think SOnic is cause I liek Sonic but not that much

Now I know you said don\'t do it, but I have too.
You can\'t compare Jak and Dexter to Sonic. There is just no way.
Sonic is all about speed, his levels are built to get a maximum speed and pull off combos. Creating a high that Jak and Dexter simply will not match, and for good reason.
Jak and Dexter will be a pure platform game. There will be timed jumps, puzzles, big levels that require alot of exploration (all that stuff that makes a platform game). You would be better off comparing this game to Banjo-kazooie or even Mario. But you simply can\'t compare anything to Sonic. It\'s its\' own game.
By the way, there is no way a Sonic port could hurt. The game is fantastic.
-
[slaps Ginko around some for insubordination]
I agree a port of Sonic to the PS2 wouldn\'t hurt nothing. I guess I prefer the ND Style of platform play over Sonic by a margin
Just my personal preference.
but I honestly want Sega to make a new Plaformer/franchise. Something that is new and fresh and full of Sega\'s goodness.
-
Here\'s a good way to make you think.
Compare Ridge Racer to Gran Turismo...
Can\'t do it huh?? That\'s what I\'m trying to point out...
-
[Kicks Ddaryl in the face, and runs]
Anyway, Sega will surely get something going soon. They have over 80 titles planned to go around from now through March 2003.
They can\'t all be sequels and rehashes. Come on, it\'s Sega.
Makers of Crazy Taxi, Jet Grind Radio, NiGHTS, Chu Chu Rocket, Shen Mue, Panzer Dragoon, Ecco if you needed reminding...
-
arcade racer vs: Driving simulator
hows that
don\'t get me wrong Ginko. I like Sonic, but no matter what happens I probably would pass up on any PS2 Sonic for other games
I really want to see some original stuff from Sega, and I actually wish Sony would invest or purchase some exclusive stuff from one or 2 of Sega\'s dev houses
-
You kinda missed the point~
Both are racing games, but they both have something the other just can\'t give. Same with Sonic and J&D. Both adventure/platform, but very different goals in mind when they were in developement.
See, I don\'t understand the whole exclusive thing. I know that some games would help drive sales and attention, but it just isn\'t right. I\'m actually suprised that Sega allowed VF4 to be exclusive for a whole year, and kinda pissed. Same with Jet Grind and Panzer being Xbox only. Everyone should get to play those games.
Monkey Ball, Space Channel 5, Floigan Bros., Samba De Amigo, Skies of Arcadia, Fighting Vipers.
Sega cranks out the goods all the time, I\'m sure they have a few suprises ready for 2002...
-
Well in that argument I have to say you kinda missed my point
Sonic just doesn\'t do enough for me to the point where I prefer to play the other over it. What Sonic offers is not enough to make me want to play it or have it on the system. Others want it and thats fine,
as for exclusive , it doesn\'t matter, but if Sony is going to invest into Sega for something original then its goes without saying it would be exclusive
At this point Sega just doesn\'t seem intereted at all at making newer original content for any system. Its a money thing for them at this point.
There is nothing coming from Sega to the PS2 that I\'m really interested in. PSO will be cool when ever it gets here after that not much
-
I completely understand the personal preference thing. Here\'s mine. I love racing games. I like the arcade style miles more than a simulation. I would pass up any GT game for Daytona, Sega Rally, Super GT Racing, Ridge Racer. There...
But anyway, I think Panzer Dragoon 4 will be exclusive to Xbox. I\'m sure MS paid for that one big time. Same goes for Jet Grind Radio.
As for, "At this point Sega just doesn\'t seem intereted at all at making newer original content for any system. Its a money thing for them at this point."
WTF are you talking about? In the past two years they have created Crazy Taxi, Shenmue, Jet Grind Radio, Space Channel 5, Seaman, Samba De Amigo, Ogga Bogga, Sega GT, Out Trigger, Floigan Bros...That\'s more original content than any other company you can come up with.
What exactly makes you think that they\'re gonna stop with new original content now? I would think that without the restriction of one system, they would be able to imagine and create alot more...

They have made a lot of new stuff, but right now, all they are doing is porting their games to make a little more money. That is what ddaryl is talking about. Yes, they will have new stuff in the future, but right now, they are just trying to milk the games that are already made for all they\'re worth by porting them to other consoles.

Ogga Booga, Floigan Bros., Monkey Ball, Out Trigger...all new(some not out yet) and for DC, GC, and where ever else they decide to put them.
Then you have PSOnline 2, Virtua Striker 3, Virtua Fighter4, the 2K series, Crazy Taxi Next, House of the Dead 3, Panzer Dragoon 4, Jet Grind Radio Future, Shenmue 3. Some of those titles won\'t even touch DC...making my point they are not just working off of ports.
