All I can say is that Sony has no reason to worry. A closer look at the games running (and not FMV like at E3) reveals that GC games are not much better looking than PS2\'s. I mean SSX looks way better than 1080 Snowboarding. The cell-shaded Zelda looks weird, Herdy Gerdy looks just as good. The new Mario game only just manages to look better than Mario 64!
PS2 all the way!

Console debate?
-
All of those games you commented on are no where near complete; they will greatly improve in all areas, including graphics, by the time they are released.
Also, Sony never really had to worry about Nintendo stealing their thunder anyway. Both companies are targetting two separate age groups, so they should be able to coexist without much problems, much like the PSX and N64 did.

Since 1080 2 is so obviously early in development it\'s pretty hard to compare the two.

NOT EVEN CLOSE. I really dislike the style that the next Zelda is going in, but Herdy Gerdy cannot compare to the recent Zelda shots. Everything looks 100% cartoony unlike Herdy Gerdy. I\'m very impressed but yet very disapointed.
The new Mario game only just manages to look better than Mario 64!
Any credibility you had just flew out the window. Kudos.

I\'m very disappointed with what was being shown at Spaceworld.
Not very impressive IMO, and I too, think that Herdy Gerdy almost as good, if not as good, as Zelda...
-
The way this thread is turning out, it will either be moved to the console debate forum, or closed. I\'m guessing the later.
I\'m not really impressed with what Nintendo has shown IMO. However, its early, and things could change.

Is Spaceworld still going on?

Ok then, don\'t believe me, I just found this from Gamespot
"Read our impressions of the first Mario game for the GameCube.
At its pre-Space World press conference today, Nintendo showed a brief video clip of the sequel to Super Mario 64, Mario Sunshine (working title) for the GameCube. The game seems to be early in development, as many of the textures looked like they were pulled directly from Super Mario 64"
Sorry for stating the truth

Here is a free impression of Space er, i mean fruityworld 2001
It was an eye opener, a controversial display of software. ;)

You have obviously never seen the thing in action- it looks gorgeous. How long has Gamespot been anti-Nintendo again? I wouldn\'t take any of their information as fact. Every other Nintendo site says it looks great. :)

I have the mariocd.wmv vid right here, its 4.31MB, and doesn\'t look that impressive. Jak & Daxter woops it IMO. I also have the Zelda one, man the game looks pants. I admit the old style Zelda looked good, even on the N64. But the new cel-shaded one look so cack
-
Jak&Dexter does not woop it IMO. It may have a SMALL egde though. All J&K has going on for it is a highly colourful look and high polygon count. By E3 or when ever the new shots are released, Mario will have J&D smoked. Bleh, the 2000 SW Zelda demo has it smoked. :(

Well at least there\'s some good news, the GC comes in black too! So if I do get one, it won\'t look out of place next to my PS2. Black also looks more grown up. I just wish the DirectXbox didn\'t have the huge green cross of slime running through it.
-
Ohh and by next E3 we will probably seeing screens of Jak & Daxter 2 :D
-
That\'s if they make a J&K2, which I really can\'t see happening.
-
Naughty Dog have already said that they will make a sequel if Jak & Daxter is popluar (which it will be)
-
That remains to be seen, but it looks too colourful for the PS2 crowd. Klonoa 2, despite from being a great game IMO, did poorly. Rayman 2 did poorly...platformers just don\'t really do well on Sony systems(except Crash, but without marketing those games would of sold like crap). Sometimes great games go unoticed...
-
J&D is Sony\'s main platformer. Believe me, it will have good marketing.
-
:surprised
-
Can someone post some pics of this new zelda?
-
I want Jak and Daxter alot more than I want Mario on Gamecube:) Alot of my friend do to .It\'s more impressive than Mario so far.I\'m sure Sony won\'t mess up Jak and Daxter,It\'ll have plenty of marketing .:)

I agree GAMES, Mario looks fun, but the graphics aren\'t so hot.:thepimp:

Well who said gamecube\'s games where suppose to be better looking than ps2 games? I expect the games to be on par. Nintendo has never boasted about the great graphical magic in gamecube compared to all the other next gen systems.
-
bah, you guys and your graphics make me wanna throw-up, how can u talk about graphics when the games arent even near completion and the video captures from spaceworld are recorded from what looks like IMO the video quality of a personal camcorder. Just keep your biased coments to yourself until you see the full, completed game running infront of you on a decent television.

Lets take a trip back in history..to spring TGS where not even nearly completed xbox pics where showed...and the talk around here was xbox graphic suck....and how unimpressive xbox games where...
I agree the graphics should not even be discussed because the games are not finished...but as history shows here...ppl are going to bash games no matter what. Just check out these old comments made about xbox...I mean it was just starting to see light and it was already being bash. It is just a common trend that will not change.
