R&B star Aaliyah is now dead. She was really hot. She died in a plane crash. There\'s stories of it on cnn.com, yahoo, lots of other sites if anyone wants to look into it
-
Aaliyah killed in plane crash (http://www.cnn.com/2001/SHOWBIZ/Music/08/26/bahamas.crash.ap/index.html)
I didn\'t believe it the first time I read it... This is very unfortunate...
-
Damn. The only R&B I liked. She was very talented actress and singer..
Bummer.
-
Whoa?!?!? I thought she was pretty hot.And that Dr. Dolittle beat stuck in my head for months!
that\'s too bad, she was really coming out, starring in movies and such!
Eric Jacob
-
That is very unfortunate. Why do the good ones die young? Why didn\'t that waste of flesh Eminem die instead?
-
WHYDOES SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN. I LOVED AALIYAH AND HER MUSIC. THIS IS SO SAD. THIS IS A SAD TIME IN HIP HOP.
-
I can\'t beleve this happen to Aaliyah! I like all her songs and movies. WTF the piloit was thinking, Crash on the end of the runway? Aaliyah Japan animation. Click here: http://idirector.media.ibeam.com/real/virg001/Aaliyah/Video/japanimation_cut_56.ram

Why do u have to be so anal. I mean if you where not goig to say anything good why did you even bother to reply. Nobody needs these anal commet blasting all over the place.
It is not that she is better than anyone else sir. It is the fact that she was a star and ppl loved her music. And liked her as a ENTERTAINER.
This has nothing to do with her being better than you or I. I WAS A big AALIYAH FAN. And I know thousands die everyday and may they RIP.
-
It is very sad. She was very talented and was only just becomng well known.
Imagine if this happened to the likes of Madonna or Mariah Carey.
Tragedy.

That is mean man. People actually look up to her. People like her music. I am one of those people.
R.I.P. AALIYAH :(
-
Wow, that was unexpected. :(
I wasn\'t a fan, but it\'s always shocking to hear about celebrity deaths. But I also think Luke\'s on to something - many people die every day. And each one of those deaths are a tragedy too.

i respect that but this thread was not about everyone else it was about aaliyah.
-
It\'s quite ironic that I read this newsbit from \'aintitcool.com\'.
I wasn\'t a great fan of her, but this comes so quickly that it shocked me.
She was hot, and talented.
But now, may she rest in peace.
[ Luke, this has nothing to do with those 1000 people dying every day, this is just to respect her memory. If you want to respect the memory of those 1000 lost, pray ]
-
Wrong, Samwise!
1 death is a tragedy.
a million deaths is a statistic.
don\'t you know your history?
Eric Jacob
-
Well, not that I care all that much about the thousands of people that die everyday - I don\'t know them personally. But to their families their death is a tragedy.
BTW, what is that movie where someone says something in the lines of "kill 1 man and you\'re a murderer, kill 1000 and you\'re a hero"? Perhaps my memory is just flawed.
-
Damn, that came out of the blue,
too bad, i liked her as an actress.
-
Not a real big fan but it sucks to see a young women that was on her way and suddenly dies.
R.I.P Aaliyah.

-
I can\'t believe it!!!
I really, really like her music... This makes me pretty sad :(
-
That is so sad :( I was never a big fan of her music but I did like some of her music. I remember her appearances on MTV, MTV Music Awards, MTV New Years Party. She was a very good person and actress. Its sad that bad things happen to good people. :(
-
:(
Why can\'t N\'Sync die in a plane crash instead?

Get out of my head will you!!!
That is exactly what I was thinking. She is a singer/actress. Wow. What makes her any more important in life then the plumber down the street who died. At least he can fix my house. What\'s she going to do?
Oh wait, I\'m sure she was a great humanitarian like Princess Di.
Don\'t get me wrong, it sucks to die so young, but I think I am over it. Yep, I\'m over it. I\'m going to go get me a nutty bar.
-
Wasn\'t she supposed to be in the new Matrix movie?
But I don\'t really give a flying fudge about this.
Imagine if this happened to the likes of Madonna or Mariah Carey.
The world be a better place :D j/k

Yes some of you are right about the other people you die in the world everyday, but some are not tragedies many people die of old age too, people who have lived long full lives, IMO that is not a tragedy. The death of aliyah is a tragedy because she was well know but mostly because it was simply that, a tragedy. when someone dies young in a freak accident it is know as a tragedy.
-
Every day you can see reports of ppl who die, just switch on the
tv news bulletin. These days it\'s alot of deaths from conflicts like
Israel and Palestinia, also in Macedonia. Maybe another day an earthquake will cause deaths in some 3rd world country, who knows. These are all cases in which you know ppl died. You can do something with that knowledge. Anything, like praying for their soul, or throw it out of your head like a \'throw away plot from an fps. etc. My point is that these ppl I do not know personally. Maybe I know what they stood and fought for.
In the case of Aaliyah I know she made music, which in turn brought fans happiness. Being a musician, these ppl won\'t hear new music from her and she was known public : so that makes this case imo a celebrity death. I think it is valid to make notice of that, respect that and thus also this thread.
btw. to some of you : what if it was Kojima san or Miyamoto san in that plane ? Would you say \'so what\' ?

It isn\'t in my opinion that she was better than anyone, it was the simple fact when your famous people pay more attenion which includes death. There is no way someone can mourn everyone that dies nor do they have some reason to. They feel, with stars they have a reason to because they have bonded with that star via music or whatever. Now the fans of that person, have nothing to look foward to . No new music. No new movies and so on. Well, that isn\'t exactly true. Elvis had more albums come out after his death.......
1 death is a tragedy.
a million deaths is a statistic.
Damn you. I was goin\' to say that!
Imagine if this happened to the likes of Madonna or Mariah Carey.
You forgot to add Britney Spears, N\'Sync and others in that...Oh wait..You mean it would be a tragedy? Damn, sorry. I thought you meant it would be a good thing.
;)
-
damn...i talked so much **** about her because shes starring in the new lestat movie..\'the queen of the damned\' which i think will blow.....but its still pretty messed up to hear tragic news like this.
-
Wasn\'t Aaliyah in the Matrix2? And if she was, when is the movie coming out. It will be the last time we\'ll get to see her. So sad :(
-
GET PISSED AT ME IF YOU WANT TO PEOPLE.

may the other 8 ppl rest in peace. But I didn\'t bye there cd\'s and records. And I didn\'t go see them star in movies.
-
She was supposed to be in Matrix 2 and 3, they havent started filming them yet I think.......I think they even moved Matrix back to 2002 now maybe it was 2003.........
:hat:ScottyJ:hat:

This is tragic, IMO she was the best RnB artist out. I still listen to her song One in a Million every day. I can\'t get enough of her voice. It\'s sad to see her die. Luke\'s right about her. She might be a celebirty, but what makes her more important then 1000 people that die everyday?
*Goes to pray*
Sorry guys, i feel sad after hearing about this:(
Oh well.
-
I thought her music was total crap, like all r\'n\'b IMO, but she was nice looking though.
-
That sucks......
How come I see everyone using this face - :( When you should be using this face - :crying:?
Just wondering:D

EXACTLY MY POINT!

I feel sad!:( She was a really cool singer and really hot too! well that was unexpected...RIP AALIYAH!!!:crying:
-
Sad news this is indeed. Not only is it a tragady for everyone that was close to her and loved her, its also a sad day for the RnB community. Now Lauryn Hill is the only good female artist left

LMGDFAO!!!!
I\'m sorry, I know that\'s mean, but that was DAMN FUNNY!! I literally fell out of my chair when I saw that!!
Oh yeah, regarding Aaliyah, that is really a shame, I was pretty shocked. I really liked her music and she was just starting to blow up. She just released an album and she was going to be in part 2 and 3 of the matrix.
My condolences to her family and friends.
-
She was casted for The Matrix 2 and a third sequel. They didn\'t start filming though, so she won\'t be in any of \'em. :(

The matrix is done..they are just in post production now. They filmed both movies back to back as one huge movie then split it into 2 and 3.

First off I am very sad :( that she died. Her music was great and she was one of the more talented pop female singers we had.
When I heard the new I was upset that she had died but my thoughts had also gone out to the other people who died in that crash. Why they did not mention their names as well upset me a little, and it still does.. But she is the one that had an impact on peoples lives.
Music is a very powerfull and personal thing for a lot of people.. So many memories go along with music that for people its an intergral part of our memories. I for one loved her music and it saddens me to know that she is not producing music anymore. And when I hear her music it will now make me sad when I think about what has happen. A lot of the good memories I had have been replaced with sorrow..
So for all you pricks out there who don\'t understand the power of music and the impact that people in the media have on our lives go do something else with your miserable selves.. I know that people die everyday.. And so is the story of life.. That was actually what I said to my GF.. This is what life is... People die.. But to say whoopy doo daa, other people die too so whats so important about her.. ?? A lot of things which you appearantly can\'t understand... peace
-
the argument im making doesnt even have anything to do with her.
everytime a celebrity dies we have to hear about it for months.
Aaliya has been the lead story on the news everyday sense she died here. THATS WHAT PISSES ME OFF. Our society eats this kinda thing up. It makes some people feel like they are "compasionate" cause they can mourn Aaliya, but then they sit and watch the discovery channel and watch about all the mass-genocide in WW2 and think "wow, thats really interesting"
a little kid got shot while he was riding his big wheel in chcago yesterday. But they didnt even mention it because they were too busy getting "fan reaction" about Aaliyah. 3 damn days later, its still all i see in every paper and every 9:00 news.
like i said sorry if you guys dont see where im coming from. Im not a cold hearted person. this is just one thing that bothers me.
-
i know its such a shock..my uncle said it today...i couldnt believe it when i heard
-
I think there was a headline in The Onion once a long time ago, "5,000 Brown People Die Somewhere"
This was a satire to draw attention to the fact that people in the western world don\'t care as much about mass tragedies that happen in the third world. Basically if you don\'t know the person who died, you don\'t care as much. Many people think they knew Aaliyah because they saw her on television and heard her music. That\'s the only reason her death is treated as more important than the other 8 people on the plane and the other 1,000 people who died that day.
The same thing is done by Aaliyah\'s record label itself. Here\'s their statement: "Blackground is devestated by the loss of our Queen. The example she showed young people will be sorely missed and we hope her short time on earth will be an inspiration to young people all over the world. We are equally distraught by the passing of our Blackground family members Gina Smith and Kevin Wallace. Their hard work and dedication were an invaluable contribution to the success of Aaliyah and Blackground. Our prayers go out to all the families."
They\'re saying: Aaliyah\'s death is really important, the deaths of two of our other employees are sort of important, and the deaths of the other people on the plane are not nearly as important to us. Nothing wrong here, it\'s just human nature.

I still think thats messed up!!!

and you know who that is quoted from, Clip?
The great statician, Joseph Stalin, who killed, I mean, provided millions of people to be part of a statistic!
Yay for communism!

my opinoin as far as this goes is aaliyah didnt give a sh*t if i live or die so i dont give a sh*t if she lives or dies
i u start to care about people who dont care about u, u will lead a sad, sad life
"dont greive people who dont greive u, dont love people who dont love u" - Ian Britton

The reason why we care more about Aaliyah\'s death than some other who died the same day, is because we feel we knew her somehow! We saw her many times on tv, her videos etc, heard her songs on the radio..... That\'s why I\'m pretty shocked to hear the news. I don\'t feel as bad for the other people on the plane, because I had never even seen those people. It\'s not like I\'m devastated or anything, I can imagine feeling this sad over the death of some friend\'s friend who I didn\'t know personally.

I don\'t give a **** if you die either.. Has no impact on my life.. But her death did have an impact on my life...
No a dramatic impact, but an impact just that same.. Its not that I think I knew her, but her music did play a part in my life. I love music, most every type of music.. Music is intertwined with my memories and the events in my life.
For example, when I heard one of her particular songs it reminded me of a time when I used to drive around with my GF and have a good time with her. But now that memory has been replaced with sorrow because of her passing away.. It makes me sad now when I hear her music. I thought a lot of her music was great and she was one of the few pop singers that I liked. Her music actually meant something to me.. Not like the garbage that N-Sync, and Brittney Spears produce. Aaliyah to me was a much better musician then a lot of people out there... So her passing, from a my music stand point is uppsetting.
All this talk about how other people are important too, well thats true, but she is dead and she did have an impact on our lives if you like it or not. Joe Smoe whol died yesterday, who had no impact in my life is not important to me.. Sorry but, if he had no impact on my life then I have no feelings to extend to him.. I am sad when anyone dies, and I don\'t wish bad on anyone, but they just don\'t have the same affect as to someone that I used to listen sing, and have an intergral part of my memories..
If you kids just can\'t understand that then don\'t respond with childish remarks...:clown:
