Just wanted to say what\'s up.
I\'m a former Nintendo nut that just recently got a ps2, and wanted to check out the place.
Talk to ya later
-
Welcome to PSX2 Central! Congrats on your new PS2. :D
-
Uh-oh. You should have waited for the GameCube. You just wasted a handful of dough. PS2 sucks. No really it does.
heh (J/K!)
-
Welcome to the forum guy... GC? :) Seeing the SpaceWorld...
-
Welcome to the boards dude, good choice about the ps2. Have fun with it, and if your in trouble just ask us! :nerd:
-
Welcome to the forums. Just go read the Newbies come here thread(which you probably have done already) and that will tell ya what and what not to do.
-
welcome aboard sonny...
good timing to get a ps2...theres a big lineup of games due out for it in the next few months...
hope you enjoy your stay.
-
Cool. I read it already, thanks Bladez. This place seems pretty cool :)
But ya, I was going to buy a gamecube, but after spaceworld with zelda, and the apparent lack (AGAIN) of third-party support, it was time for me to move on. I was probably the biggest nintendo fan you had ever met. My lifelong dream was actually to work at nintendo of america, after I finish school in 3 more years. But, I simply can\'t give my money to a corporation that won\'t give me my games. I missed a good FIVE years of really awesome gaming on the playstation, just so I could fulfill my biases, despite expensive cartridges, crappy third party games, NO third party support, way too many 3d platformers, no variety in software, and the majority of their games being for anyone under the age of 12. I was hoping that gamecube would be the next super nintendo, and that nintendo would cut the crap and get back to the awesome days where they had a huge library of cool stuff and didn\'t give a crap about whether mature games would hurt their image or not (remember the "play it loud" marketing campaign? That ruled!).
But alas, it was not meant to be, as nintendo has showed that they are truly set on just sticking with the little kids after completely screwing up one of their key franchises, being zelda. It\'s so funny that Nintendo is still stupid enough to continue going this route. The average american videogamer is probably between the ages of 16 and 35. And Sony clearly has this market locked up, as well as the majority of market share and higher sales numbers. You would think that Nintendo would learn from this, but once again they MUST do what THEY want to do instead of what the consumer wants. What dumbasses. Their backwards corporate philosophy will always set that company behind everyone else.
The videogame market has evolved this generation, and nintendo has de-evolved. I don\'t even consider them a part of the electronic entertainment industry, but rather, a toy company. It\'s too bad because in doing that, they are alienating thousands and thousands of hardcore nintendo fans that stuck with them during the n64, hoping for something better with the gamecube. It was only about a few weeks ago that I finally knew that Nintendo may continue to make kids games, but that I have to finally grow up and graduate to a system made by a company that is pushing the boundaries of the industry, in terms of unique content, and mainstream acceptance. And furthermore, welcomes my needs and desires as a gamer and a fan of this industry with open arms, instead of closed doors.
That company is sony, and that platform, is the playstation2.
That\'s all my ranting for now. Sorry :)

Hey Sempuukyaku, were you expecting Nintendo to show off their 3rd party at SpaceWorld? It\'s completely their show. I\'m surprised that you thought of it for a second.
Just to show you a glimpse of Nintendo drastically improved 3rd party list, take a look at the launch titles. 2 First party games, 8 3rd party games. And it can only get better over time. :)
-
good stuff...i share youre feelings, only difference being that i said F U to nintendo the day i returned my n64....
i thought theyd change with the gamecube but didnt so i buried them....
however, i dont believe the average videogame age starts at 16 considering that i got my atari when i was 4 and my coleco when i was 5....but back then, people over 20 didnt care much for videogames like they do now....so its not smart to forget this age group and only focus on the toddlers....
ofcourse you know, you prolly just declared war with all the nintendo swallowers of this forum...good luck.

Well I did think of it, considering the fact that spaceworld was only 3 WEEKS BEFORE THE JAPANESE LAUNCH. You would\'ve thought that Nintendo would\'ve pulled all the stop and had just a complete unveiling, but no, that would make too much sense.
Also, it\'s funny how, with the exception of sonic adventure 2, all of those third party games announced will be going straight to playstation2 (soul calibur 2, dead to rights, rune, etc).

The Japanese got what they wanted. Rune the RPG, Smash Bros which is insanely popular in Japan, Mario, Zelda(the Japanese will adore the design, the rest of thw world on the other hand), Star Fox, Luigi\'s Mansion, Monkey Ball(will be popular) and Wave Race. It\'s not about having a vast amount of 3rd parties, it was about impressing the Japanese public, which they did.

Deads To Rights is now Xbox exclusive thanks to MS\'s wallet. We don\'t know where SC2 is going first, and Rune, the one you saw at SpaceWorld, is not the same thing as that crappy game that was just released. Besides, Nintendo doesn\'t and never will rely on 3rd parties like MS and Sony does. They can make a system survive just with 1st and 2nd parties alone.

They only survive because of their stupid kiddy franchises man, get to grips with it. Pokemon owns the market.
Oh and I still can\'t believe that Namco could just make DTR an exclusive to xbox when they\'ve already been making the game for the ps2.. When did Sony know about this?
-
Yeah, that\'s what I was wondering about too. We\'ll have to get the word from IGNps2 tomorrow.

Welcome to the boards, Sempuu - you\'re currently facing one great nintend-fan from past, a nintendo-fan that used to love super-nintendo, and even nintendo 64, a nintend-fan that used to love those crappy cartridges and pricy prices, a nintendo-fan whom spent all his money to games and magazines.
But now you\'re facing a more matured gamer, who has lost his faith towards Nintendo.
A more matured gamer who chose Ps2 and is living happily with the choice.
A more matured gamer who will definetely buy GameCube if it proves to be something better than N64 game-wise.
but if and only.
-
welcome to the boards, and dont hink that this is just a pro sony biased board. it is actually quite equal.
there are many great guys that are here that you can meet, so stick around, and youll be hooked, its fun.
-
welcome to the forums...youll ove it here.....as you can tell by name and pic i love liverpool fc and football

Then explain why Goldeneye easily out-sold Metal Gear Solid and pratically every other PSX game besides FF7 and 8 and maybe the first Crash(then the series took a nose dive when people found out how much it sucked). They may be stupid to a fanboy like you, but a vast amount of people love them.
You have just proven to be a major fanboy by saying something so insanely biased and retarded. Take a bow.

You may be perfectly right, well kinda, but stop startin ****, there was no need to insult him like that, shut the hell up and nicely point out these things, but then again Goldeneye was only one game, so your point wasnt proven totally either

I LOVE YOU ALL!

tsk tsk, I wasnt being a **** about it, i just meant shut up if you dont have anything to add to this thread, i know my post dont but im trying to set you straight but thats kinda useless to try to do
-
yeah stick w/ ps2 dude, nintendo tends to reach out for the younger audiences. i have a friend thats 15, says hes gonna get game cube, i\'ve been trying to talk him out of it:alien:
-
Who cares what audience they reach to? They are still one of, if not the best, game developers ever. Zelda looked childish, but it was still very challenging. Some of you need to get off your high horses.
-
i just came to this sight recently to
i gave up scea polls because everybody was talking about the
system wars. relax people!!!
